About That Statue in the Churchyard in N.C., SCV's Giant Flag, Maryland and Arizona
JULY 5, 2020
** Church near Charlotte demands immediate removal of Confederate statue. (Cornelius, N.C. Apparently this is a primarily white church. The statue was built in 1909. Wonder how come it took them so long to figure out they didn't like it, or was it a George Floyd thing? It was already "vandalized" in 2015. Looking at pictures of the monument I see it has been "vandalized" and an article from July 7 said that three people were caught and arrested for vandalizing it. I didn't think "vandalizing" Confederate monuments was a criminal act anymore.)
** Sons of Confederate Veterans raise a massive Confederate flag along NC highway. It is a 20-by-30 foot flag on an 80-foot pole in Burke County and can easily be seen from I-40.
** Meeting in the middle: Local residents suggest removing Confederate monument. (El Dorado, Az. Union County)
** A Confederate statue is toppled in rural Maryland, then quietly stored away.
** Lilly Kofler: A 'monumental' swing in public opinion on the future of Confederate monuments. (No kidding. It won't be long before they are all down. Then the "protesters" will start going after other statues and monuments.)
