Are these UDC members the white supremacists who put up all those racist monuments BLM has warned us about? How about those Confederate veterans above them? Some mighty desperate and despicable folks if you ask me.

A Hot Time in Texas These Days: And, You'd Think They Would Have Bigger Fish to Fry

JANUARY 20, 2023

**  Fate of c(C)onfederate statue outside Bell County Courthouse is still up in the air, years later.  (Belton, Texas)

**  Texas still silently celebrates Confederate Heroes day.  (So?)

**  Opinion:  Confederate Day honors  traitors  who fought for slavery.  (Someone who obviously doesn't know the whole story.)

Wearing a Confederate Uniform Is Definitely Not a Crime Even If It Offends Certain Folks

AUGUST 28, 2022

**  It is unbelievable how many articles are out there about Doug Mastriano who is running for Pennsylvania governor and in the past wore a Confederate uniform.  Big whoop.  What's so bad about that?

**  Some Pennsylvania Republicans defend Mastriano for posing in Confederate uniform.  (So who is going to be offended?  WWMs, BLMers, NAACPers and SPLCers.)

**  The photo in question was taken in 2013-2014 and others were also in battle clothes from different eras.

AUGUST 29, 2022

**  Mayor speaks about racist letters spread in Enfield just days  after Confederate monument bulldozed.  (North Carolina.  What the mayor had done to the monument was nothing short of racism.)

**   Military commission recommends dropping Confederate names at West Point.

AUGUST 26, 2022

**  Counties with more slaves in 1860 have higher gun ownership.

**  Doug Mastriano wore a Confederate Army uniform in an Army War College faculty photo. (He is a candidate for Pennsylvania governor.  And, Trump backed.  So?)

AUGUST 27, 2022

**  Removing Confederate monuments in Jacksonville:  Funding may be renamed.  (Again, complete costs should be paid by those who want them removed.

A Virginia County Votes to Let Confederate Statue Remain

MAY 21, 2022

**  Charlotte Co.  votes to not relocate Confederate monument.  (Virginia.  The County Board of Supervisors voted 5-2 to leave it.  Finally, some politicians with backbone.  Better not let certain groups know about this.)

**  Shenandoah considers restoring Confederate school names.  (Virginia)

**  Supreme Court takes up right to sue over removal of Confederate monuments.  (Georgia)

I tell you, Virginia is starting to impress me with the way some are standing up against this onslaught.  I may have to cancel my boycott of that state.  (Not that they would care anyway.)

The Second Civil War: Two Time Capsules, Politics As Usual in Sad R. Storage at the Wastewater Plant

JANUARY 4, 2022

**  Two time capsules found at removed Confederate statue base.  (Sad R.)

****************************

JANUARY 5, 2022

**  Finishing the job:  Contractor who helped remove  Richmond's Confederate statues tapped for pedestal removal.  (Sad R.  Team  Henry Enterprises.  I seem to remember that this company is headed up by a big supporter of the black Richmond.  He has given money to the mayor's campaigns and is a black man as well.  Politics as usual?)

**  Robert E. Lee statue to exit Richmond's wastewater plant.  (As a further slap in the face, Richmond's mayor ordered it and others to be kept at the city's wastewater plant.  And, now will be turning it over to a black museum.  What a guy!)

Well, Maybe There's Hope for Virginia After All

I was quite interested in the Virginia elections this past Tuesday.  The Democrats controlled the state government and things these last two years have almost been worse for those of us with Confederate heritage than when we had Union armies marching all over the state and destroying most everything they could get their hands on.

In other words, the Democrats had to go.

The Republican candidates for governor, lt.gov, and attorney general all won.  Plus, it appears the Republicans have taken control back in the House of Delegates.

So, maybe there is some hope for that state.

I do not know if there was any voting by counties or towns about removal of Confederate statues, but doubt that there were.  After the voting the last time, those that hate all things Confederate would not dare to put it up to a vote of the people.  They know they would lose.

No More 'Hey Reb!' at UNLV, Who 'Attacked' Confederate Statue in Louisiana? Confederate Flags.

JANUARY 22, 2021

**  County commissioners vote to remove controversial Confederate monument, put it in storage.  (Gwinnett County, Georgia.  No big surprise, as I predicted the other day, about them voting to remove it.  Again, it should have been put to a vote by the people, not just politicians afraid of BLM coming to their homes.  What we need is some politicians with a backbone.  The monument was only controversial because Blacks did like it.)

**  UNLV drops  'Hey Reb!' mascot over perceived Confederate ties.  (University of Nevada Las Vegas. They will, however, keep the name Rebels.  Sorry guys, the word Rebel connotes Confederate more than your "Hey Reb!" guy.)

**  Confederate statue in Louisiana damaged, nose missing.  (Lafayette, Louisiana.  Statue of General Alfred Mouton.  Authorities not sure who did it, but I have a probably culprit in mind.  And, this is NOT vandalism, but a HATE CRIME.)

**  Is removing Confederate monuments, changing sports teams names just a distraction?

**  Rocklin student  disciplines for displaying  Confederate flag at school sparks debate.  (Rocklin, California.  What happens if a student has a BLN flag?)

If a Black Person Is Against Everything Confederate, Could That Be Considered Racism? Texas, Georgia, Louisiana and Confederate

JANUARY 20, 2021

**  What is Confederate Heroes Day  and why do Texans still celebrate it?

**  Gwinnett County  to vote today on removing Confederate  monument in Lawrenceville.  (Georgia.  Unfortunately it will be the county board of commissioners who vote on it which means they will vote to remove it.  These questions should always be up to the voters to decide, not a bunch of politicians.  You know how they are.)

**  Well, here is the answer to the above question.  Gwinnett County Board votes to remove Confederate monument to storage.  (Now, that is a huge surprise.)

**  Representative  working to remove Confederate monuments from Texas Capitol grounds. (Hispanic representative.)

**  Months after council vote, Confederate monument  removed outside old Plaquemine courthouse.  (Louisiana)

**  After a year of racial reckoning, black lawmakers  believe they can finally eliminate  Confederate Heroes Day in Texas.  (Is this racism?)

Renaming Those Roads in Va. Statues Removed and Changed

JANUARY 14, 2021

**  Plan underway to rename three roads with Confederate ties.  (Montgomery County, Maryland.  Jubal Early Court, J.E.B. Stuart Road and J.E.B. Stuart Court.)

**  Northampton County votes to remove Confederate monument.  (Virginia, of course.  This was not a vote by the people, but by the Board of Supervisors.  They probably knew that if they put it up for a public vote, they'd lose.  One of these days, hopefully, politicians will grow a backbone.)

**  Proposal would replace a Confederate statue with John Lewis.  (Georgia's statue at the Capitol.  John Lewis was a black Congressman, Civil Rights proponent who served for  33 years and died in 2020.  I could agree with this change (Alexander Stephens is the one there now).  However, I hope not every Confederate statue removed from there will be replaced by a black person.)

**  Walton County supervisors silent on Confederate flag and monument.  (Florida)

**  Confederate statues falling after George Floyd killing.
