Are these UDC members the white supremacists who put up all those racist monuments BLM has warned us about? How about those Confederate veterans above them? Some mighty desperate and despicable folks if you ask me.

Well, Here Come the George Floyd and O.J. Military Bases. Vandalizing Confederate Statues Is a Hate Crime.

MARCH 3, 2021

**  A tiny NC   mountain town is addressing  its big Confederate past.  (Sylva, N.C.)

**  Texas voters' views  shifting on abortion, pot, gambling and Confederate monuments, poll finds.  (Half of them would leave Confederate monuments where they are, either as is, or with historical context.  I doubt that the BLM and their supporters are going to be too keen on having people vote on keeping the statues after what happened in Virginia in November.)

**  Commissioners tasked with scrubbing Confederate base names sworn-in at first meeting.  (Let's hope that not every renaming will be for a black person, but fear that is exactly what will happen in today's climate.  I can even foresee a George Floyd military base in our future.  Probably an O.J. one as well.)

*************************************************

MARCH 4, 2021

**  Confederate-era  statues vandalized  at Atlanta's historic Oakland Cemetery.  (I se BLM is getting a jump on the spring riot/hate crime season.  Again, that is not a simple case of vandalism when they do it, that is nothing short of hate crimes and should be prosecuted as that.)

**  Confederate  monument protests mirror St. Augustine's  Civil Rights struggle in new exhibit.  (Florida.  A very prejudiced artist.)

**  In Alabama, a vote to keep Confederate monument protections.  (A win for us of sorts.)

Michigan, Voting on Removal, St. Augustine and Washington & Lee University

OCTOBER 26, 2020

**  Protesters call for Confederate statue to be removed during Allendale Freedom March.  (Allendale, Michigan.  It is of a Confederate and a Union soldier standing back-to-back with a slave child at their feet.)

**  Six different ways to ask the Confederate statue question.  (Halifax, North Carolina.  Six different Virginia towns or counties will be voting on removal Nov. 3.  Takes a look at the wording of the questions.  And, the wording can be confusing.  Of course, it really doesn't matter, because if the vote goes to keep the monument, BLM will still protest and commit hate crimes against them.)

**  Protesters call for Mark Bailey's resignation outside of Flagler College.  (St. Augustine, Florida.  His crime?  He didn't want the Confederate statue removed.  Horrible.  Just horrible.  You need to know when you get on the "right" side.)

**  W&L survey about name change gets 14,000-plus responses.  (Washington & Lee University.  Lexington, Virginia.  Trying decide whether to remove Lee's name from the school.  Sadly, the article didn't mention how the voting went.

I Hope They Don't Change the Name.  Lee Was An Honorable Man.  --Old Secesh

Civil War II: Free Speech? Confederate Monuments Book. Statue Disposal, Arkansas and Mellon

 OCTOBER 4, 2020

**  Flying flag a right of free speech.

***********************************

OCTOBER 5, 2020

**  Penn Manor graduate pens book about Confederate monuments.  (We need all the books we can get now before they are all gone thanks to Confederadication.)

**  Letter to Editor:  Disappointed with Confederate name changes.

**  Jalane Schmidt column:  Seller beware  --  The moral risks of hazardous statue disposal.

**  Bailey 'saddened' by violence, hate at protest at Flagler College.  (St. Augustine, Florida.  He stood against removal of Confederate statue and came under fire by BLMers for it.  Sadly, these days, anyone opposing any part of Confederadication becomes one of the worst people who ever lived.)

**  Survey seeks  ideas from community on renaming school.  (Fort Smith, Arkansas.)

**  Mellon Foundation to spend $250 million to reimagine monuments.

Stone Mountain, Kentucky, St. Augustine, Texas and TV

OCTOBER 3, 2020

**  Stone Mountain Memorial Association cancels much-anticipated meeting.  (Georgia.  Of course, this is one of the flash-points of contention in these days of Confederadication.)

*********************************

October 4, 2020

**  Murray community members opposed to Confederate statue  invite UDC for discussion.    (Murray, Kentucky)

**  St. Augustine protest leads to arrests over Flagler College board member, Mark Bailey.  (Robert E. Lee Elementary School's name to be changed.  Many want its new name to be for Gloria E. Anzaldua.)

**  'Antebellum'  uses violent images to tell insulting story.   (TV show.)

Is Something Wrong With the Water in Virginia? Alabama, Robert E. Lee Painting, Virginia, Book, St. Augustine and U.S. Capitol

OCTOBER 3, 2020

**  Charges dropped for man who opposed court's Confederate image.  (Louisa, Virginia.  A Virginia judge tossed a capital murder case out for black defendant.  Robert E. Lee painting in the courtroom.  Ridiculous, but, hey, it's Virginia.  Still believe there must be something wrong with the water in that state.  Way too much craziness happening there with all that Confederadication.)

**  Lowndes County to pay fine for Confederate statue removal.  (Haynesville, Alabama.  It will cost them $25,000 since it was illegally removed.  Now, who goes to jail?)

**  'Down Along with That Devil's Bones' dives into Confederate memorial debate.  (This is the name of a new book about statues of Nathan Bedford Forrest.  Great name for a book.  Focuses on statues of Forrest in Nashville, Memphis, Selma, Alabama and Murfreesboro.)

**  City bids "Bon Voyage" to 1879 Confederate veterans memorial.  (St. Augustine, Florida)

**  Williams:  'Lost Cause, Potential Future':  The reimagining of Richmond's Confederate monuments.  (Sad R.)

**  Which Virginian will replace Lee statue at U.S. Capitol?  Public hearing to be held.  (Unfortunately, I am sure it will be replaced by a black person.  Rubbing salt into the wound.)

Confederate Memorial Moved, Then Attacked in Florida. Kentucky, St. Augustine, Florida, Mississippi and North Carolina

SEPTEMBER 24, 2020

**  Committee expected to meet  to discuss moving Davies County Confederate monument.  (Kentucky)

********************************

SEPTEMBER 25, 2020

**  St. Augustine Confederate  memorial settles into new home.  (Florida.  Was moved to Trout Creek Fish Camp.

**  Retire MS flag with Confederate emblem still flies at some George Co. buildings.  (Mississippi)

**  Group continues to ask  county to remove Confederate statue.  (Catwaba County, North Carolina)

********************************

SEPTEMBER 26, 2020

**  Confederate memorial set on fire, vandalized at Trout Creek Fish Camp.  (Florida.  It was in place just 24 hours before  it was attacked.  Wonder who might have attacked it?  This monument was erected in 1872 in honor of 42 Confederate soldiers and stood in St. Augustine before Confederadication set in. Again, this is not vandalism.  It is a hate crime.)

What Is to Become of the Key West Mallory Square Sunset Celebration?: Florida, Alabama

 SEPTEMBER 11, 2020

**  Trout Creek Fish Camp preps for arrival of Confederate monument.  (Florida.  Arrival of Loring monument from St. Augustine.)

**  In Key West, there's a push to rename -- not tear down -- Confederate monument.

**  Of course, there is the sunset celebration that takes place every night at Mallory Square which is named after Confederate Secretary of Navy Stephen Mallory.  Will it become the Tubman or Douglass Square since most everything now will have to be named after Blacks?

**  Third protest over Confederate monument  and flag takes place in Albertville.  (Alabama.  Tensions were hot.)

**  Fla removing Confederate monuments, symbols faster than almost any other state.  (And they used the Been verified site, not that infamous list put out by the SPLC.  Only California, Maryland and Oklahoma have removed more in recent years.  Florida has removed 30% of its monuments, including 11 since Floyd's death and 57 still remain.)

**  Military survey shows support for Biden, removal of Confederate names from bases.

**  NAACP leaders again ask  county to remove Confederate monument.  (Hickory, North Carolina  Wonder whose side they are on?)

**  Mississippi protesters rally at Confederate monument.  (Oxford)

 SEPTEMBER 8, 2020

**  Crews continue to work on removing St. Augustine Confederate monument.  (Florida)

**  Man detained in Collierville town square where counter-protesters confront Confederate marker  sit-in. (Tennessee.  The park it is in has already had its name changed from Confederate Park.  The detained man knocked a cell phone out of the hand of someone filming him.)

AUGUST 26, 2020

AUGUST 24, 2020

**  Protesters and counter-protesters  argue over Confederate, black slave boy statue in Allendale.  (Michigan)

**  One activist working for change in Jackson.  (Mississippi)

**  GOP lawmaker's  celebration of KKK leader forces  racial reckoning in Alabama.

**************************************

AUGUST 25, 2020

**  UF has Confederate statue removed from St. Augustine before dawn.  (That UF would be the University of Florida.  Again, why do so many Confederate statues get removed at night?  Are they ashamed to be doing what they are doing?

But, upon further reading, this was done at the request of the general's descendants.  Confederate General William Loring is also buried under the monument and will be disinterred and moved as well. I will be writing about the general in my Saw the Elephant: Civil War blog.)

The Second Civil War: Charlottesville/Albemarle County, Va. Vies With Richmond for Sad. Taking 'Em Down

AUGUST 15, 2020

**  Pro Confederate monument protest to take place in Augusta.  (Georgia)

**  Albemarle County bans Confederate imagery from school dress code.  (Charlottesville is in Albemarle County, so this is no big surprise.  Let's just hope this ban will also include offensive clothing like BLM.  If not, I hope someone makes it an issue.)

The schools are also changing the names of schools.  At least one school's name will be changed despite a long career of education because of a man's opposing integration.  Just because you oppose integration this does not automatically make you a bad person.

**  Confederate symbols tracked since Floyd's death.

**************************************

AUGUST 16, 2020

**  One place Confederate battle flags are still allowed in military: tattoos.

**  Giles County juries deliberate  in a room dedicated to the Confederacy.  A black man doesn't like it.  (Tennessee)

**  More than fifty Confederate symbols moved, taken down in wake of George Floyd's death, study says.

Guess Whose Side NAACP Is On? Even Wisconsin: Florida, Alabama, Virginia and Tattoos

AUGUST 15, 2020

**  Confederate monument in Plaza de  la Constitucion to be removed in two weeks.  (St. Augustine, Florida)

**  Stevens Point schools explicitly ban Confederate flags, Nazi swastikas and other symbols  as part of updated policies.    (Wisconsin.  Did they also ban anything with BLM on it?  Equally offensive and stands for rioting, hate crimes, arson, attacks on police and looting.)

**  Huntsville City Council over Confederate monument dispute.  (Alabama.  The statue has been hit by a hate crime by BLM and is covered in red paint.  The city, in a show of class declines to clean it.)

**  Surry County Board of Supervisors to relocate Confederate monument.  (Virginia)

**  One place Confederate battle flags are still allowed in the military:  Tattoos.

**  Judge:  NC county can't ban all protests around courthouse.  (Graham, North Carolina.  Alamance County NAACP brought forward a lawsuit to allow protests.  That means BLM will get to riot and commit hate crimes.

Please, Take Down the Lee Statue in Sad Richmond. Beware 'Historical Context Opinions.'

AUGUST 11, 2020

**  It's Time for us to change  the course of history.  (About a Confederate monument in Galveston, Texas.)

**   Williamson County may form committee to discuss removal of Confederate statues.  (Texas)

**  St. Augustine passes motion to move Confederate monument.  (Florida)

**  Construction crews removing the base of Confederate monument in front of courthouse.  (Durham, N.C.  The statue was toppled by BLMers and their white minions in August 2017 after the Charlottesville, Va. confrontation.  What was left was removed for public safety.)

**  Virginia judge grants new  injunction against removal of Confederate statue.  (The Lee statue in Sad Richmond will remain up for at least another 90 days.  This should be a great embarrassment to the city the way it allowed it to be desecrated.  I wish it was down now.  It hurts to see it standing there covered with all that obscenity and all those BLM hate crimes.  You know that in most U.S. places, if you even "vandalize" a public monument, you'd get arrested.  However, it seems to be okay to do that in Sad Richmond.)

**  Supervisors set to discuss Confederate monument  in special called Monday meeting.  (Halifax)

**  Gettysburg Confederate monuments to get new panels to offer more historical context.  (In front of each of the 12 Confederate state monuments.  I've seen a few of these "context" markers.  Lots and lots and lots of people's opinions and very anti-Confederate.  I'm against.  If they want to write on them that the war was fought partly because of slavery, I'd be alright with that.)

It Saddens Me to See What They've Done to That Impressive Statue.  (Just look at the picture of it at its dedication back in 1897 to the right of this.)  --Old Secesh

Alabama, Letters, Schools, St. Augustine and Sad Richmond

AUGUST 6, 2020

**  Alabama lawmaker who celebrated KKK leader faces arrest for theft.  (Forbes.   Will Dismukes.  Allegedly stole from his place of employment  between 2016 and 2018.  If he is guilty, he should also resign.  But reading the article I felt there was a definite slant to it.)

**  Letter:  Confederate soldiers were not patriots.

**  Letter to the Editor:  It's time to move on from the Confederacy.

**  What matters most in naming US bases.

AUGUST 7, 2020

**  Signs with Confederate school names go back up in Hanover County.  (Richmond Free Press.  A black newspaper.   Virginia)

**  St. Augustine's city manager  recommends site for Confederate monument.   (Florida)

**  City's Confederate monuments now up for disposal.  (Richmond Free Press by Jeremy Lazarus.  Besides the headline. the first paragraph went like this:  "Let the disposal begin.   The Richmond City Council  on Monday set in motion a plan to finally rid Richmond of most of the city-owned  statues and icons of Confederate  traitors. although  surprisingly, not at all."  I get the idea that Mr. Lazarus doesn't much like us.

Civil War II: South Carolina, Where Will Statues Go?, Richmond Again, Louisiana and St. Augustine

AUGUST 2, 2020

**  5 arrested as protesters in Greenville call for Confederate monument removal.  (South Carolina.  Tempers flared on both sides.)

**  Confederate reckoning:  The search for new homes  for South's monuments.  (One thing for sure, they must be placed where BLMers and their white minions can not get at them to commit their hate crimes.)

**  Police:  2 assaulted officers near Confederate statue.  (Richmond, Va.)

**  Mayor-president asks  judge to allow city-parish to remove Confederate General Mouton monument.  (Lafayette, Louisiana.)

**  Judge dismisses St. Augustine Confederate memorial lawsuit.  (Florida.  Lawsuit sought to prevent Confederate monument removal.)

Civil War II: Are We in the Midst of a Civil War? Even in Michigan, Protests Erupt in Violence in Texas, West Point

JULY 27, 2020

**  Protesters push for Confederate statue removal.  (Allendale Township, Michigan.)

**  Competing rallies meet in downtown St. Augustine over removal of Confederate monument.  (Florida)

**  Judge says Confederate monument will be removed after protest groups clash in Weatherford.  (Texas.  There was definitely the possibility of violence there.)

**  The history behind Confederate monuments in America.   (Channel 5 NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.  A very fair assessment of the history.  Not one-sided at all.  When I saw it was going to be a UNC-Greensboro professor talking about it, I wasn't sure, but he was fair.  Well worth watching.)

**  Violence breaks out between pro & anti Confederate demonstrators  Weatherford.  (Texas.  Several videos accompanied the article. Watch them.  There were idiots on both sides, but tempers are flaring on both sides, not just in Weatherford, but all over.)

**  Bill would require  renaming West Point dorm, roads, gate named for Confederate generals.  (Too bad.  These names were okay for so long, but now with BLM, not okay.)

**  Rick Roberts:  "These people  are trying to take your country away from you."  (WBAP AM News Talk.  Conservative view  point but says  the country is in the midst of a civil war and it is heating up.  Blames the Democrats and BLM.  Worth a listen.)

It Has to Stop.  Step 1:   Confederate Statues on Public Property Must Be Removed and in a Dignified Way (and No Protesters Partying  Over It.  Step 2:  The Deglorification of BLM and Revealing What It Really Is.  Maybe Rename Them the Brown Shirts.

This way, both sides get something.

Some Resistance to Confederadication Starting to Come Into Play, Arlington National Cemetery, Gettysburg and the "Dukes"

JULY 6, 2020

**  At Arlington Cemetery, a Confederate monument to the South and slavery still stands.  (Washington Post.  And guess what the Post wants done to it.  However, I don't recommend BLM and their white minions go there to desecrate it.  It would be bad for them.)

**  Crowd rallies to keep Confederate memorial in St. Augustine.  (Florida.  It is nice to see an occasional objection to the drive to take down everything Confederate.  They were peaceful and no attempt was made at "vandalizing" any nearby statues or markers that Blacks might hold dear. In other words, no TOPPLINGS, graffiti or swear words.  No hate crime committed here.)

**  Local activists take credit  for toppling Confederate monument.  (Seattle, Washington.  Erected by UDC in 1926.  It has been repeatedly "vandalized" and defaced in recent years.  Track these people down and arrest them.  But, wait, this is in Seattle where the mayor let the "activists" take over a part of his city.  I kind of doubt anything is going to happen to these persons who committed a hate crime.

**  The world's largest Confederate monument carved into Georgia rock face is fielding new calls for removal.  (Stone Mountain, Georgia.  Again, I am hoping authorities put it under strict guard before BLM and their white minions blow it up.)

**  Historians  assess 'troubling ' Confederate monuments at Gettysburg.  (A "historian" would not favor taking down those monuments.  Perhaps if they are BLMers or their white minions they would.)

**  Volo Auto Museum  meanin' no harm with Confederate flag car.  (Volo, Illinois.  About seven miles from us.  Believe it or not, there are people who want it out of there because of the you-know-what on the roof of it.)

**  NC group angered by removal  of statues  hangs giant Confederate flag.

**  Gettysburg reckons with Confederate symbols.  (After all the statues are gone from public places, BLM and the NAACP will be starting on Confederate monuments in Civil War battlefields.)

It Is Nice to Finally Start Seeing Some Resistance to This New Black Tryanny.  --Old Secesh

Demonstrators Demand Stone Mountain Confederate Carving Be Removed

JUNE 29, 2020

**  Mississippi Legislature  passes bill to eliminate the Confederate symbol from state flag.  (I still think they should have let the people decide on popular vote.)

**  Ole Miss basketball player who transferred to  Iowa State 'proud not to represent' Confederate flag.  (A lot of loyalty with him.  Don't worry, Iowa State does not have a Confederate flag, nor the state either.)

**  38 descendants of Confederate  soldiers sue St. Augustine over removal of Confederate monument.

**  In Wilmington neighborhood, division over streets named after KKK  grand wizard,  Confederate generals.  (North Carolina.  In Pine Valley neighborhood, there are at least 17 streets named after generals in the Confederate Army, including Nathan Forrest.)

**  The Confederate monuments are down in Wilmington --for how long we don't know.  (North Carolina)

**  Enid neighbors living the struggle over Confederate symbols.  (Oklahoma)

**  Demonstrators march on Stone Mountain demanding removal of Confederate carving.  (Georgia.  Hopefully the State of Georgia will put the Stone Mountain Carving under heavy surveillance before BLM and their white minions use explosives to bring it down.)

Keep BLM Away from Stone Mountain.  --Old Secesh

Geico, U.S. Capitol, Fort Bragg, Cal., Knoxville, St. Augustine and Schools

June 23, 2020

**  California city named for a Confederate general will not put name change on November ballot.  (Fort Bragg)

**  Confederate memorial in Knoxville's Fort Sanders neighborhood vandalized.  (Tennessee.  Of course, this is not "vandalizing" but a hate crime.)

**  Geico quietly takes down ad about referencing Civil War massacre of black troops.  (I haven't seen this one, but, it was in the Washington Post, so take this however you wish.  See next post for details.)

**  Dallas begins removing Pioneer Park Confederate monument.

**  'I'll teach my grandkids to hate you':  Confederate waving Missouri woman says in video.  (A Real Nut Case.)

**  Oldest US city hopes to move forward from Confederate past.  (Well, what about its Spanish past?)

**  Baptists and Walmart criticize rebel-themed Mississippi flag.

**  Hampton has a school named after a Confederate officer.  Leaders are investigating all of the district's namesakes.  (Virginia.  They're just figuring this out?)
