**  Sculpture a tribute to US Colored Troops liberation of Wilmington.  (Wilmington, North Carolina.  This is a good one to  put up as many USCT regiments were involved in the capture of the city.  However, Wilmington was not liberated.  It was captured.  Also, to put  up a statue to Blacks when you're taking down statues to whites.  I just don't know.)

You can never have too many historical statues or markers in my book.

**  Westford  schools may remove  'grey' from mascot's name, rebrand with students' help.  (Westford, Massachusetts.  How far will they go?  Come On, Man.)

**  Tuskegee city council man Johnny Ford focused on removal of Confederate statue.  (Alabama.  He actually should be focused on his defense as he should have been arrested for the crime he did to that statue.  But, since he is Black he will get away with it.  I wonder what they would have done had it been a white person doing something like he did to a black statue?)

**  22 Alabama on SPLC's list of US schools  honoring Confederate  leaders.  (Our good friends at the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) again.  Wonder if they are racist?  Hey, most Confederates were white people.  And, we're STILL waiting on SPLC's list of how many BLM "peaceful demonstrations" in 2020 became looting and burning orgies and damage figures.)

**  Before dawn Sunday, Wilmington begins  removing Confederate monument pedestals.  (Wilmington, North Carolina.  Why do they move so many Confederate statues and now pedestals during the wee hours of the night.  Is it because they are doing something bad.  Hopefully the folks who don't want them there are paying for it.)

**  Now that the Forrest bust has been removed, what Confederate symbols might be next?  (Nashville Public Radio.    Wonder what this fine institution had to say about the removal of the Farragut and Gleaves busts?  I still would like to know why they were removed.  Hey, Farragut was Union for crying out loud!)

(Of course, NPR is very liberal and Democrat.)

**  City finds simple way out  with Confederate monument settlement.  (Wilmington, N.C..  The UDC will take them.  Hopefully, part of the deal involves the city paying all costs for removal, including putting them up elsewhere.  Even better, let those folks who want them gone put their money where their mouths are and pay for it themselves.)

**  Fact Check--  D.C.  officer Michael  Fanone was not pictured carrying a confederate (Confederate) flag at Capitol siege.  (Reuters Fact Check.  Hey, Reuters, how about checking to see if you capitalize Confederate?)

**  City Council votes to permanently remove two Confederate monuments from downtown Wilmington.  (North Carolina.  Shame on Wilmington.  Removed last year during the Days of Rage for "public safety."  They will be turned over to the UDC.  At least they are doing something right.  But, the UDC should be reimbursed for all expenses relating to relocation.  Hopefully, those who were offended by it will pay, not the city.)

**  The South must teach its children the truth.  (Imagine the New York Times saying something like that.)

**  Spirit of Confederacy statue removed from Sam Houston Park.  (Houston, Texas.  Taken down undercover of the night.  Sadly, will go to a black museum.  I wonder why so many Confederate statues are removed at night.  That's when the bad people come out or when you're doing some bad.)

**  Street name changed after residents vote for  something 'more equitable' for Missouri City.  (Texas.  At least this was put to a vote.  It should always be put to a vote on any removal or name change.)

You'd kind of think "They" might take a day off today.  But, NO!!!!

**  Confederate monuments at Park Service get a reprieve.  ("Those" people want all Confederate statues and markers at National Battlefields taken down.  Then, who were the "good guys" fighting?)

**  'Body Bags' of slaves latest weapon in Confederate flag fight.  (Marshall County, Alabama.  They represent slaves owned by John Marshall, the county's namesake.  Gets me to wondering.  How much work can you get out of a dead slave?  Probably not too much.  Why would Marshall kill his slaves.  Inquiring minds want to know.)

John Marshall was the U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice and owned 200 slaves during his lifetime.  Must have been a really bad man.

If Confederate Flags Mean Treason, Racism and White Supremacy, What Do BLM Symbols Mean To You? Oregon, Another College and Wilmington

**  Oregon bans Confederate flag, other hateful symbols from public schools.  (One Oregon representative says the Confederate flag "is the symbol of treason, racism and white supremacy.   Hopefully they will also include every BLM symbol as that means racism, rioting, arson, looting and hate crimes.) 

**  VCU board of visitors votes to remove  names of Confederate supporters from its campus.  Some 16 such names are on the hit list.  Of course Virginia Commonwealth University is in Sad R. which sort of explains it.  One of the names is the Tompkins-McCaw Library, named in part for Sally Tompkins.  And, we all know what a horrible person she was.)

**  Letter to the Editor Sept.19, 2020:  Confederate memorial at Louisa courthouse must go.

**  Rumor control:  No, Wilmington's Confederate statues aren't coming back up anytime soon.  (North Carolina.  They were removed for "public safety" three months ago undercover of the night.  By law, they now will need to be returned.  They won't.  Just as well, with BLM around, there would have to be 24-hour surveillance to prevent hate crimes being done to them.)

President Trump Visits Wilmington, N.C., Today to Honor the City as the First WW II Heritage City and the Veterans on the Japanese Official Surrender Anniversary

President Trump will be in Wilmington, North Carolina today for a ceremony on board the battleship USS North Carolina to mark the 75th anniversary of the Japanese surrender on board the battleship USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945.  This marked the official end of World War II.

Trump is also in Wilmington to present the city with America's first World War II Heritage City honor for all that went on there during the war.  About a dozen WW II veterans will also be in attendance.

I wonder if there is anyone still alive who actually witnessed the event on board the USS Missouri 75 years ago.

Of course, Wilmington used public safety as reason for the removal of two Confederate statues sometime back.

Let's hope certain groups will stand down for the event.

**  Protesters in Ridgefield, Vancouver,  rally in support of black lives.  (Canada.  Jefferson Davis Park has two markers for the Jefferson Davis Highway.  For Black Lives Matter and in honor of Dr. King's "I Have A Dream" speech.

**  Confederate statues would be removed from national parks in Gettysburg, elsewhere under Minn.  lawmaker's bill.  (U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum, D. Minnesota.  Imagine a Democrat doing something like this?)

**  Virginia Supreme Court gives Richmond green light  to remove city-owned  Confederate statues.  (There you go, Sad R.  Get that Lee statue down immediately.  You should be embarrassed at what you let BLM do to it.  Shows your class.  Since Sad Richmond is so gung-ho to remove all connection it has to the Confederacy, I am already crossing out the name of that city in all my books.

Last night, I was reading a book about the bread riots that took place in that city and just substituted the word "Sad" whenever the "R" word came up.  I doubt that I will ever go there again.)

**  Laura topples Confederate statue  after parish votes to keep it.  ((Lake Charles, Louisiana.  BLM extremely mad that they didn't get to do it.  But even Mother Nature seems to be against us.  A lot of Confederate markers in Wilmington, N.C. have recently been knocked down by hurricanes.)

**  By the way, congratulations to Wilmington, N.C., for becoming the country's first World War II Heritage City.

**  People hurl racist epithets at protesters outside Confederate  memorial in Clark County.  (Washington. The protesters here are BLMers and their white minions.   I see that BLM got a taste of language much like they give everyone else.  They didn't appreciate it.  Sorry guys.  At least none of their homes or businesses were looted and torched.  Sad to see defenders sinking to BLM level.)

The State of Confederate Statues in North Carolina-- Part 4

McClatchy News additional Confederate monuments taken down:

**  GREENSBORO (1):  A Confederate monument at a city-owned cemetery was "toppled" during the Fourth of July weekend.

**  WINSTON-SALEM (1):  The city removed a Confederate statue downtown March 12 citing public safety concerns because of protests for and against it at the site the preceding months.

**  CLINTON (1):  A statue outside of the Sampson County Courthouse was removed July 12 just hours after being "toppled."  "Toppled" means a hate crime was committed against it.

**  GRANVILLE COUNTY (1):  A Confederate statue was removed  June 24 after a "credible threat was made to remove it."

**  ROCKY MOUNT (1):  The city started to remove the Battle Park Confederate statue on June 29, the same day an apparent noose was found on a nearby tree.

**  VANCE COUNTY (1):  A Confederate statue was removed  from outside a county office building in July  and taken to an undisclosed site.

**  WILMINGTON (2):  On June 25, the city announced that two Confederate statues had been removed undercover of the night.

All so sad.  But,if removal and safekeeping will keep the BLMers and their white minions from doing their hateful stuff to them, I support that.

The State of Confederate Statues in North Carolina-- Part 1

From the August 15, Greensboro (NC) News & Record  "Dozens of Confederate symbols have been removed since May.  How many in North Carolina?"  Raleigh News & Observer.

I started this in the previous post.

In North Carolina, those magnificent list-makers at the Southern Poverty Law Center say that ten Confederate symbols were removed and three others were relocated from places where they've stood for decades.  But another source, McClatchy News says the number is  at least 19 Confederate statues coming down this year.

N.C. state law requires that  the N.C. Historical Commission has to give approval for these removals.  But there are exceptions, including one for  potential dangers like a statue "toppling" over on a rioter or a potential clash between statue-haters and statue-defenders.

In Salisbury, a protester threw a rock at a building near where the Confederate Fame statue was and a counter-protester was accused of firing a shot into the air.

Wilmington removed two statues because of public safety.

Leaders in several state communities have taken down Confederate statues and protesters have removed  monuments from the State Capitol grounds in Raleigh.

Next post will be a list from SPLC of N.C. removals.

**  Letter:  Don't stop with Confederate monuments.  (Wants all offensive monuments removed, including Columbus and Pilgrims.  The Washington and Jefferson monuments should be renamed.  And Mt. Rushmore should have Washington and Jefferson removed or altered.  A photo accompanied this of the removal of the Confederate statue at Libby Hill in Sad Richmond.  There was hardly a spot on it not covered with hate crimes.

**  US Army seeks to remove 'divisive symbols' from military bases.

**  You can't claim memorials should come down if you don't know anything about them.

**  The affair at Elk Creek.  (Battle of Honey Springs in Oklahoma.  Wow, real Civil War history.  Not this revisionist/BLM stuff.)

**  Kentucky  county votes to keep  Lee statue at courthouse.  (Calloway County.  Wow, how did this happen?  How'd a group of politicians develop a backbone?)

**  Raptors, Rattlers or Royals?   Richland students can have a say  in name of new mascot.  Texas.  The old Confederate one has been removed.  They were the Richland Rebels.  Also changed are the Richland flag that looked like a Confederate flag, the dance team named  the Dixie Belles and the spirit team named Johnny Reb.

**  Racial reckoning  draws in namesakes of Virginia Tech's past.  (At least seven campus facilities honor men who  at one time or another owned slaves, served in the Confederacy or espoused white supremacist views.

Priceton is going to remove Woodrow Wilson's name from a college and a public policy school because of his racist policies.

**  Ole Miss basketball player who transferred to  Iowa State 'proud not to represent' Confederate flag.  (A lot of loyalty with him.  Don't worry, Iowa State does not have a Confederate flag, nor the state either.)

**  38 descendants of Confederate  soldiers sue St. Augustine over removal of Confederate monument.

**  In Wilmington neighborhood, division over streets named after KKK  grand wizard,  Confederate generals.  (North Carolina.  In Pine Valley neighborhood, there are at least 17 streets named after generals in the Confederate Army, including Nathan Forrest.)

**  The Confederate monuments are down in Wilmington --for how long we don't know.  (North Carolina)
