Are these UDC members the white supremacists who put up all those racist monuments BLM has warned us about? How about those Confederate veterans above them? Some mighty desperate and despicable folks if you ask me.

Confederate Statues to a Black Museum? I Think Not

MAY 13, 2022

**  Black History Museum saving Confederate statues.  (Sad R.  The five Confederate statues taken from Monument Avenue are going to a black museum.   I sure don't agree with this move.  They should have gone to UDC or SCV.)

**  Confederate Memorial Day event  Saturday.  (Gaffney, South Carolina)

****************************
MAY 14, 2022

**  Today they are the Mavericks, but UT-Arlington once celebrated Texas' Confederate past.  (University of Texas at Arlington.  They were the Rebels.)

****************************

MAY 16, 2022

How about that, no items for yesterday.  That is so pleasant.  Like I said before, as soon as these attacks on the Confederacy end, so will this blog.  I have way too many already.  Of course, with the murders that took place in Buffalo Saturday, I imagine they will be increasing.

Confederadication: Jacksonville, Maryland, Belle Boyd's Grave, Boy Scouts, Fort Bragg and Monumentless Avenue in Sad R.

SEPTEMBER 15, 2021

**  Rally calls for removal of Confederate monuments in Jacksonville.  (Florida.  About two dozen people.  That is one huge rally.)

**  Last Confederate monument  on Md. public land set to come down.  (Maryland.  The Talbot Boys monument.  This was in the Washington Post.  Do you suppose they are happy about this?)

**  Confederate spy's grave still stands.  (Kilburn City, (Wisconsin Dells) Wisconsin   Belle Boyd's grave site.  The writer, a college student seems to be a real Confederate hater.)

**  Scout official:  Confederate flags flown by  troop in Peach Days parade an honest mistake.  (Utah.  Boy Scouts)

**  Public suggest renaming Fort Bragg after Union General Edward Bragg.  (Like I said, a good idea.)

**  2020-21:  When Confederate monuments came down from Monument Avenue in Richmond.  (Now it's Monumentless Avenue in Sad R.  Too bad the Blacks didn't just make their own avenue to honor their people.)

A.P. Hill, Tuskegee, Texas, Capsule, Arthur Ashe, Flag

SEPTEMBER 12, 2021

**  City reaches agreement with family of A.P. Hill to relocate  former Confederate general's remains, monument.  (Sad R.  It will be removed to  Fairview Cemetery in Culpepper.  A better way to do this sort of thing than Sad R. usually does.  Of course, all sorts of BLM/NAACP obscenities on it.)

**  Suit filed over Confederate  statue in mostly black Tuskegee.  (Alabama)

**  Confederate  memorial statue to be returned  to museum grounds.  (Greenville, Texas)

**  New capsule  installed  within pedestal  where Confederate General Robert E. Lee statue stood.  (Sad R.  They gave up looking for the original one.  I was hoping that the pedestal would also be taken down.  What Sad R. did to  it is a shame.)

****************************

SEPTEMBER 13, 2021

**  Black man's statue is the last statue standing on historic street in former capital of the Confederacy.  (Sad R.  The statue is  of tennis great Arthur Ashe.  I'd like to see it also moved to somewhere else and no statues be allowed on Monument Avenue.)

**  Plane pulls Confederate flag over Richmond raceway.  (Sad R.)

Civil War II: Iowa, US Capitol, Louisiana, Richmond, California and Maryland

JULY 2, 2021

**  Iowa Congressional delegation split on purging Confederate, white supremacist  statues from US Capitol.  (Guess who voted to do away with them>)

**  Settlement not reached in lawsuit to remove  Confederate Gen. Alfred Mouton.  (Louisiana)

**  Editorial:  Move, don't destroy Confederate statues.

**  Looking back:  Stonewall Jackson  statue removed from Richmond's  Monument Avenue one year.  (And the really sad thing is that new statues  (and only of black people) will be put up in their place.

******************************

JULY 3, 2021

**  Community demands firing of employees who had Confederate flag in Elk Grove Unified School District van.  (California.  My question is this.  Does community here refer to Blacks and their white minions or the whole community.  Also, had it been a Black Lives Matter flag in the van, would that have been a problem?)

**  Talbot officials  ask court  to dismiss lawsuit seeking removal of Confederate monument.  (Maryland)

Talking About Monumentless Avenue in Sad R. How Do You Get to be an Activist? Those Pesky Confederate Face Masks (It's a Health Issue, You Know)

JANUARY 22, 2021

**  Name of Virginia's Camp Pendleton will be changed from that of Confederate general:  new recommendation due next month.  (Evidently a state owned base.)

**  Activists promise to continue fight against 'Talbot Boys' Confederate monument.  (Maryland.  I'd still like to know how you get to be an activist, usually referred to as a community activist.  Do you have to attend college and get a degree in Activism?)

**  Parents outraged  over student's Confederate  flag face mask demand action.  (Oakville, Missouri.  Nothing was said about wearing BLM masks.  Those are more than a bit offensive to many.  You mean you'd rather put a person's life in danger during the virus than be offended by that flag?)

**  After deadly US Capitol riot, Texas lawmakers  find renewed hope to remove Confederate symbols.  (No Confederate veterans took part in the attack on the Capitol.  They are all dead, guys.)

**  Commissioners seek dismissal of Gaston County Confederate monument lawsuit.  (North Carolina)

**  Valentine Museum's survey  says 64% of Richmonders believe museums should acquire Confederate monuments from Monument Avenue.  (Sad R.  The problem is that the Valentine Museum has been taken over by the other side. Also, the name of Monument Avenue should be changed.  I kind of like Monumentless Avenue myself, but any other name will do.  And, no monuments of any sort should be allowed on it or near it.  That means the Arthur Ashe statue also needs to be moved.)

The Washington Post Surprises Again. Whose a White Racist? Can You Believe Sad R. Again?

DECEMBER 14, 2020

**  Compared with today's GOP,  the 1860 secessionists were softies.  (Wow, can you believe that the Washington Post would print something like this?)

**  Public school to strip name of Confederate general who advocated for black suffrage.  (Charlotte, N..C.  Rufus Barringer.  Was he the first activists for you-know-who?  Current activists thought the name Barringer Academic Center was named for Osmond Barringer.  Read history before open mouth.)

The school district renamed Zebulon B. Vance High School as the new Julius L. Chambers High School.  Chambers was a black man and worthy of having his name on the school  But, why does EVERYTHING now have to be named after a black person?

*******************************

DECEMBER 15, 2020

**  Confederate monuments are falling.  Here's what might take their place.  (National Geographic.  Virginia governor wants Lee statue gone and more diverse statues  (meaning Black) put up in their place on Monument Avenue.  Bug surprise there.  I tell you, that Sad R. mayor and Va. governor!!)    I do support removing the Lee statue, but not until it is cleansed and repaired from the hate crimes committed against if by the BLMers and their ilk.  What is up there now makes Sad R. look like a junkyard.

Personally I think the name of the avenue should be changed (but not to black person, personally I like Monumentless Avenue) and the remaining monument of Arthur Ashe removed as well as that statue by the art museum adjacent to it.  These two can be moved elsewhere in Sad R.  No statues should be put there in the future.  Maybe playgrounds are public gardens.

Confederadication: Name That School. Monumentless Avenue in Sad R., A New Home After the Dead of the Night.

NOVEMBER 10, 2020

**  Abilene ISD (Independent School District) asks community to rank names  for Confederate schools.  (Texas.  These are schools with Confederate names that are going to be changed.  They have a list of 12 names to replace the names of Lee, Jackson and Johnston schools.  I imagine these are all black names.  Hopefully some are not of activists but are of blacks who have succeeded on their own.)

**  Richmond's Confederate Avenue now Laburnum Park Boulevard after city council renaming.  (Sad R.  I also would recommend that the name of Monument Avenue be changed to something other than a black name.  Perhaps Monumentless Avenue.  And, there should be no statues of anybody along it.  Move the Arthur Ashe statue somewhere else and the art museum's statue across the street.)

**  Fairfax Confederate statues removed,  set to be relocated.  (Virginia.  The John Quincy Marr Monument will go to the Stuart Mosby Historical Society and the  two cannons to the Manassas National Battlefield  Park.  Glad they found new places for the items.  Again, they were removed during the dead of the night.  Something about statue removals at night, you know.)

About the Stuart Monument. Twelve Down, 199 More to Go.

AUGUST 8, 2020

**  Marching home:  Confederate monument foe works with Stuart descendant to send statue to general's birthplace.  (Sad Richmond, Va.  Sad Richmond City Councilman Michael Jones, a black minister, is throwing his support to James E. B. Stuart of Richmond, the general's great-great grandson, in his attempt to move it to Patrick Co., Va.

The statue is covered in red paint and at one time even had a noose placed around its neck.  I thought BLMers didn't like nooses.  Oh well.  Here's hoping the statue gets moved to Patrick County.  Here's hoping that BLM doesn't go after it there.)

**  Despite Confederate monument  removals, debate over  effigies in Georgia still red-hot.   (Of the original 211 monuments in the state,  a dozen have been removed.  Contains a map showing where statues still stand and where they have been removed.  The article starts with the words "Georgia has exorcised some of its ghosts in recent years...."  How do you think the writer stands?)

Fort Robinson Has a Good Ring to It. Hey, Return the Armstrong Gun to Fort Fisher. What to Do With Those Sad Richmond Statues

AUGUST 4, 2020

**  Army should rename  Texas' Fort Hood for baseball pioneer Jackie Robinson.  (At first, I thought absolutely not.  But then I read that he had been an officer in the Army during World War II and had to battle segregation and racism there as well.  He is a very deserving man.  And, along with Colin Powell as a name for the Confederate bases, I'd support the change right away.  Otherwise, when they change the base names I would like any that will be renamed for Blacks to have a five year wait as tempers are too frayed right now.)

**  Gillibrand urges removal of Confederate symbols at West Point.  (Democrat New York senator and white woman.  Hey, Senator, how about removing that 150-pounder Armstrong cannon at West Point as it was a captured Confederate weapon.  I know a great place to send it to in North Carolina.)

************************************

August 5, 2020

**  Richmond City Council to accept offers for possession of Confederate monuments.  (Sad Richmond has decided not to put the statues up elsewhere in the city.  Now the only one remaining is of A.P. Hill.  Also there is the question of what to do with the pedestals they were on.

They should offer them to the SCV or UDC.  But the city, or better yet, the mayor or BLM, should pay for repairs and cleaning along with moving and new location expenses.  Personally, I would like every single thing to do with the Confederacy out of this place, especially since I don't think I'll ever even drive through there again.  Traffic is horrendous anyway and now the city has done this.   And, they should just turn the American Civil War Museum into an American Black Experience museum which is essentially what it is anyhow.)

Just have history books say that the Confederate capital was moved somewhere northward.  Don't even mention the name.

Even then, however, comes the problem of protecting them from BLM in their new locations.

It Is Time to Remove That Lee Statue in Sad Richmond. SCV Gets Monument in N.C.. Lee County in Mississippi Keeps Statue

AUGUST 3, 2020

**  On the Other hand:  Looking for the 'Lost Cause.'

**  Judge starts new injunction barring Lee statue removal.  (This refers to the Lee statue in Sad Richmond on the former Monument Avenue.  I am against this.  After what BLM has done to it with their hate crimes, it is an embarrassment.  It needs to come down sooner, not later.  If you have seen a recent picture of it, you will know what I'm talking about.

I know that certain people are ecstatic when they see their work on the statue.  All it does for me is makes me angrier and dislike those people even more.

Sad Richmond has removed eleven monuments from the former avenue and other sites around the city.  That Sad Mayor is a real piece of work.  A black man by the way.)

******************************

AUGUST 4, 2020

**  Gaston Co. commissioners support  relocation of Confederate monument.  (North Carolina.  It will be gifted to the local SCV camp.  The county has set aside $200,000 for its relocation and the SCV has six months  to find a location and move it.  I still say that public money should not be used to move the statue.  The money should come from those who want it moved.)

**  Lee County confederate monument  to remain.  (Tupelo, Mississippi.  For some reason the radio station who had the news didn't know Confederate is a proper name and should be capitalized.  This is sure going to rile BLM.)

It Is Good to See the SCV and UDC Taking Charge of the Monuments.  --Old Secesh

Civil War II: South Carolina, Where Will Statues Go?, Richmond Again, Louisiana and St. Augustine

AUGUST 2, 2020

**  5 arrested as protesters in Greenville call for Confederate monument removal.  (South Carolina.  Tempers flared on both sides.)

**  Confederate reckoning:  The search for new homes  for South's monuments.  (One thing for sure, they must be placed where BLMers and their white minions can not get at them to commit their hate crimes.)

**  Police:  2 assaulted officers near Confederate statue.  (Richmond, Va.)

**  Mayor-president asks  judge to allow city-parish to remove Confederate General Mouton monument.  (Lafayette, Louisiana.)

**  Judge dismisses St. Augustine Confederate memorial lawsuit.  (Florida.  Lawsuit sought to prevent Confederate monument removal.)

**  Opinion:  Repeal Florida laws honoring Confederate flags, holidays.

The Second Civil War: Sad Richmond Again, Arkansas, Facebook and Evanston

AUGUST 1, 2020

**  Police:  2 assaulted officers near Confederate statue.  (Richmond, Va.  Police were breaking up an illegal encampment by the Robert E. Lee statue and while doing it, were attacked and two were arrested.  It didn't say if it was BLM or pro-Confederate people.  My guess is that they were BLMers. I'm kind of surprised as I thought the BLMers had impunity for any of their actions in Richmond.)

(Let's hurry up and remove the Lee statue.  It is an eyesore and reflects badly on sad Richmond.  Maybe they should think about cleaning all the obscenity off it.  Thanks BLM.)

**  A closer look:  The future of Confederate monuments in Arkansas.  (In Arkansas, there are still 60  remaining Confederate monuments/symbols of 64 still standing.

States with highest remaining percentages of Confederate monuments:

South Carolina, 98%
Arkansas,  96%
West Virginia/Mississippi, 95%
Georgia, 94%

**  Confederate groups are thriving on Facebook.  What does that mean  for the platform?  (Does not like Confederate groups on Facebook.)

**  Protest calls out white silence  after Confederate  flag towel displayed at Evanston beach.  (Illinois.  The protesters had all sorts of offensive BLM signs.)

The Second Civil War: Lt. John Fox, Virginia of Course and Monument Avenue

JULY 28, 2020

**  Here's an idea:  Rename one of the bases named after a Confederate general for Lt. John Fox.  (A deserving name for an Army base.  But, please, when renaming Army bases, do not rename one for a black person for at least five years.  The wounds are still too deep.  Also, let the people who want bases renamed, pay for the costs of renaming.

Lt. John Fox would be a good name for a base, just not right away.  I wrote about him in my Tattooed On Your Soul: World War II blog.)

**  Petition hopes to remove Confederate statue outside  Halifax Co. courthouse.  (Virginia.  Photos of it do not appear to have BLM trappings.

I noticed that all the monuments taken down in Virginia still had all the obscenities and BLM markings on them.  They should have been cleaned before dismantling.)

Here's a Novel Idea. Let the Voters Decide on Statue Fate!!

JULY 18, 2020

**  Pentagon sidesteps  Trump to ban Confederate flags.

**  Charles City County to ask voters to weigh in on Confederate monument.  Virginia.  They will ask for a vote from residents.  This IS THE WAY Statue removals should happen!!  It should not be left up to local governing bodies controlled by Blacks and/or with spineless white people.  I see BLM has already been to the monument.  Know how I know?

I am of then belief, that city and county officials in the South are afraid to have the people vote on the statues because they will possibly vote to keep them, despite Blacks voting all in favor of removing them.)

**  Confederate flag flown over NASCAR race.  Again.  (The SCV had a flag flown by plane over the Talladega Speedway and now the Bristol one.  Bubba reported he thought he had seen a cloud shaped like a noose and protested, wants FBI investigation.)

I Don't Think Democrats Like Confederates. Let Those Who Want Confederate Statues Gone Pay For Removal.

JULY 17, 2020

**  Democrats target Confederate  monuments in spending bill.   (House Democrats are attempting to get rid of Confederate monuments and memorials from National Park Service land.  Would this apply to these on NPS battlefields?  We've certainly come a long way from when the South was solid Democrat, sometimes referred to as "Yellow Dog Democrats."   Republicans were the "enemy" back then.  Remember the part of Lincoln and Reconstruction?)

**  Our view:  Confederate monument should not be a symbol of Gaston County.  (Gaston Gazette Editorial.  North Carolina.  Has this monument been desecrated by BLM yet?)

**  Fund grows to help pay for Confederate statues' removal.  (Sad Richmond, Va.  Estimates to remove the statues on Monument Avenue are estimated o exceed $1.8 million and a group is trying to raise the money privately so as not to hurt city coffers.  So far, they've raised about $25,000.  Long way to go but I agree with costs being paid privately even if this is the mayor's football.  You don't like it?  Put your money where your mouth is.)

**  What the Redskins name and Confederate statues have in common.  (Interesting article from Politico.)

About Sad Richmond, It's Sad Mayor and Those Monuments-- Part 2: What Do You Do With a Mayor Who Purposely Destroys Part of His City?

"It should be noted in 2018, the Monument Avenue Commission held a citywide vote about what to do with the statues.  The public overwhelmingly voted in every district to ADD to the Confederate monuments rather than to take them away.  City officials never acted upon this plan.  They should bear  responsibility for the current  mayhem and damage.

"Now Mayor Stoney, with his drastic destruction of Monument Avenue, can look forward to  a huge increase in crime in Richmond, as already seen in Memphis, New Orleans, and Baltimore after statue removals.

"Stoney previously encouraged the mostly white millennial  protesters to destroy the valuable Monument Avenue Beaux Arts sculptures by ordering the police to stand down, according to the police.  Since these protesters displayed such wild hatred of inanimate objects, the question becomes -- if these sculptures ever land in a museum, will the museum and their personnel  be safe from attacks?  The answer is 'no' until local politicians endorse arresting vandals.  Congress is complicit, with those who are history semi-literate, publicly encouraging the destruction of irreplaceable high priced public art.

"On July 1, 2020, the bronze General Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackson on Little Sorrell (his horse) by Frederick William Sievers on Monument Avenue was removed.  The avenue will soon be empty except for Lee, on state land and protected by a challenge from from an original benefactor, and Arthur Ashe.  Am allegorical statue of Confederate Navy officer Matthew Fontaine Maury, also by Sievers, from 1929, was also removed.  He created naval charts that are still in use today.

"No matter what contemporary sculptures  replace the fallen ones, tourism in Richmond will suffer.  As previously reported, it had been extremely high, with tourists coming from Europe and all over to see the avenue of spectacular monuments."

I, For One, Am Planning to Never Visit Richmond Again.  And, I Am A Big Civil War Buff.  I Might Not Even Visit Virginia For the Same Reason.  --Old Secesh

About Sad Richmond and Its Sad Mayor and Those Monuments-- Part 1

JULY 15, 2020

**  Opinion:  "Statues taken down should go to a museum"  but  will they be safe there and will any actually go there.

This is from a British site called Politicalite and makes some interesting points about Sad Richmond and its Sad Mayor.

Civil War experts fear that the removed or "toppled" Confederate statues will not be removed to a museum but will be melted down.

"As to already downed  statues in Richmond, Mayor Levar Stoney (a black man)  only paid lip service to preserving them.  He used 'emergency powers' to start removing them, but he hasn't  disclosed where they are going.  He had previously announced  a new city ordinance giving him the power to do whatever he wants  with local statues."

As we now know, several of the monuments are now at Richmond's water treatment plant.  As far as we know, Mayor Stoney has not ordered then placed in the water to be treated.  All of them had damage and all sorts of profanity and graffiti all over them, compliments of the mayor and his BLM friends and their white minions.  The Lee statue still stands, but is so covered with graffiti and obscenity, it is an eyesore.  I tried putting a picture of what it now looks like in this blog, but had to take it down as it was just too sad.  Like I said, Sad Richmond, Sad Mayor.

More in the Next Post.  That Levar, Mighty Mayor Guy.  --Old Secesh

Civil War II: 'Silent Sentinel" To Be Removed and Vindicitrix Comes Down

**  Loudoun  officials vote to remove  'Silent Sentinel'  Confederate monument.

**  Confederate  monuments in Gettysburg spark debate among historians.  (After Confederate statues in cemeteries, they will be going after the ones at national and state battlefields.)

**  'Miss Confederacy'  statue removed as workers rid Richmond of Confederate icons.  (Known as the South's "Vindicatrix" from the remains of the Jefferson Davis monument on Monument Avenue.)

(The Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument was taken down earlier in  the day.  Like I said, it is an Confederate statue removal orgy.)

Richmond Takes Down a Confederate Memorial Not on Monument Row

JULY 9, 2020

**  House bill earmarks $1 million to rename Army bases honoring Confederate leaders.  (I still say that those who want the names changed should pay for it.)

**  Discussion continues over McKinney monument.  (Texas)

**  Richmond removes Confederate soldiers  and sailors statue.  (This one was not on Monument Avenue.  Of course, BLM had "vandalized" it and it was removed by Richmond's mayor on July 8.)

**  Gainesville, Granbury and Waxahachie are latest to  consider Confederate statues' fate.  (Texas)

**  Gov. Bill Lee calls for Nathan Bedford Forrest bust  to be relocated to museum.  (Tennessee)

The Confederacy Under Attack: Stuart, Pensacola, Trump, Schools, A "No" Vote!! and Democrats

JULY 8, 2020

**  Another Confederate statue in Richmond,Va., comes down along Monument Avenue.  (JEB Stuart   Evidently, the Lee statue is still up.)

**  City issues memorandum  recommending removal of Pensacola's Confederate  monument.  (Florida)

**  Trump turns clock back 155 years with Confederacy-inspired  election strategy.  (CNN   I just can't believe this news organization would say something like this.  Especially since the Democrats are really playing up to Blacks.)

**  Grand Ledge  school officials  to consider banning Confederate flag.  (Michigan  I wonder what they think about anything with BLM on it?  Some folks consider that rather offensive.)

**  Mississippi board votes 'no' on moving Confederate monument.  (Oxford  Lafayette County.  All white male board.  Hard to believe that in this post-Floyd era that something like this could happen.  Ole Miss is in Oxford and they have already removed their statue.)

**  Descendants weigh in on debate over Confederate symbols.  (ABC News   These are the descendants of Confederate generals.)

**  House Democrats  include removal of Confederate  statues in the funding bill.  (remove statues and busts of  those who served in the Confederacy or have "unambiguous  records of racial intolerance."   Some of this last group include Charles Aycock, John C. Calhoun, James Paul Clark and Roger B. Taney.)

(Since those who were in the Confederacy are in the capital, I would support removing them because they fought against the United States.)

**  Ohio has always had Confederate apologists.
