Are these UDC members the white supremacists who put up all those racist monuments BLM has warned us about? How about those Confederate veterans above them? Some mighty desperate and despicable folks if you ask me.

A Hot Time in Texas These Days: And, You'd Think They Would Have Bigger Fish to Fry

JANUARY 20, 2023

**  Fate of c(C)onfederate statue outside Bell County Courthouse is still up in the air, years later.  (Belton, Texas)

**  Texas still silently celebrates Confederate Heroes day.  (So?)

**  Opinion:  Confederate Day honors  traitors  who fought for slavery.  (Someone who obviously doesn't know the whole story.)

And, To Think There Are No Problems With Crime and Poverty That They Would Do Better Dealing With Than Some Statues.  --  Old Secesh

Confederadication: Now VCU? Renaming the Military and the Battle of Belton

JANUARY 9, 2023

**  VCU's  medical college depended on and profited from slavery, new report says.  (Virginia Commonwealth University is located in Sad R.  They too are anxious to have Confederadication.  I sure don't know what is wrong with Sad R.  Must be the water?)

JANUARY 10, 2023

**  U.S. military begins multi-million project renaming Army bases, Navy ships linked to the Confederacy.  (I still say this should be paid for by those who want the names removed.)

**  Battle for Belton Confederate statue removal carries to 2023.  (Texas)

Enslavers: A New WWM Word?

DECEMBER 31, 2022

**  Art at the Capitol honors 140 enslavers and 13 Confederates.  (U.S. Capitol.  Seventeen are depictions of Washington, 9 of Jefferson and 5 of Madison.  Also 15 depictions of Columbus.  Without these folks, I don't even know that we would have a country here.

**  So, ENSLAVERS is the new WWM word for slaveowners.

JANUARY 1, 2022

**  West Point begins removal of Robert E. Lee, Confederate paraphernalia.  (PARAPHERNALIA?  Really.)

Enslavers?  Paraphernalia?  --Old ?

Candace Owens Defends Confederate Flag

From the December 21, 2022, Media Matters.

I had to look her up after seeing the video.  She is a black woman of a conservative bent.  So she definitely is opinionated.  However, what she had to say struck a cord with me because people whose ancestors, like mine, fought for the Confederacy, should not be made to feel ashamed of them.

She was incorrect on a few things she said, but overall made her point.

Here is what she said:

"I do not see a problem with people whose family members died fighting for that flag to be able to wave it high.  It is historical and the idea that your son or daughter went and marched in a war--  that people are so stupid they think they were fighting for slavery, those people who fought were piss-poor and never had a slave a single day in their life.

"They fought for the south and their sons signed up, went to war, and now they're told that even having a flag or having any pride for their relatives is something wrong and dirty and backwards and racist and associated with slavery.

"People are so ignorant about slavery and the numbers on slavery.  I mean, the idea that everyone had slaves in the south is so stupid.  It was incredibly uberwealthy.  It's be like people believing that everyone today has a yacht.

"I mean, it's just so--  I'm just going to stop ranting about it.  The answer is people should be allowed to keep their c(C)onfederate  flags and wave them because it represents an element of history."

Like I said, she made some good points.  A video accompanies the article.

High School, TCU, Scarlet Street? Fort Liberty and Luke

JULY 13, 2022

**  High school student dismantles Confederate flag defense.

**  TCU to research its history with racism, slavery and the Confederacy.  (Texas Christian University)

**  14 Confederate street names  changed with Fairfax  City Council vote.  (Virginia  One was Scarlet Circle.  I fail to see what that has to do with the Confederacy.  Maybe Scarlett O'Hara?  Also changed was Traveler Street.  Lee's horse?  Of course, most likely they'll all be renamed for black people.)

**  Debate  about Confederate flag at center of funding request in Georgetown.  (Delaware)

**  Fort Liberty:  Divided  views on changing Fort Bragg's name.

**  Luke Combs apologizes for Confederate for Confederate flag use:  'I am  now sware of how painful that image can be.'  (He is a big country star.  Where's he been hiding?  Country Music continues its sell-out.)

JUNE 2, 2022

There were a whole lot of articles about the Kentucky Confederate statue being removed and the CMA  banning Confederate imagery.

**  Shenandoah County School Board votes against c(C)onfederate school name survey.  (Woodstock, Virginia.  They will vote on restoring the names of Stonewall Jackson High School and  Ashby-Lee Elementary at next month's board meeting.)

JUNE 3, 2022

**  Students suspected of flying  of flying Confederate flag at Maryland school.  (La Plata, Maryland)

**  Tappahannock to remove Confederate figure.  (Essex County, Virginia.  The town council voted for removal. Of course, it was not put up for a people vote.)

**  Comedian stunned after asking a man in a Confederate  flag shirt if he is pro-slavery.  (Duh.  slavery was abolished with the 13th Amendment in 1865.  Looks like the comedian didn't do too well in history class in school.)

Sad R.'s Remover, Full Reckoning, Groundbreaking and South Carolina

MARCH 1, 2022

**  Business owner who removed Confederate monuments speaks publicly for the first time. (Sad R.'s monuments.  This man made a lot of money doing this and was a big supporter of the mayor.)

**  Fully reckoning with the legacy of American slavery requires more than the removing of Confederate monuments.  (I agree with this.  The complete true story must be told.)

**  Groundbreaking planned on private park in Bentonville for relocated Confederate monument.  (Arkansas)

**********************************

MARCH 2, 2022

**  South Carolina Senate votes to remove Confederate holiday.  (Also Juneteenth proposed as new state holiday.  Of course, replace a Confederate holiday with a black one.  Real surprising.)
