I see that this Tuesday, November 2, is election time in your state.  Unfortunately, the current governor evidently is not running for reelection as I didn't see his name listed.  That is one person I'd really like to see shown the door.

However, there is a Democrat  running for governor.  If you are tired of the Democrats running roughshod over your Confederate heritage, perhaps it is time to do something about it.

And, evidently all members of the House of Delegates are also up for election and/or reelection.  

After the local voting on removal of Confederate monuments earlier this year, there is little chance the Democrats will put it up for a people's vote anymore, so here's your chance to head them off at the pass.

My Thoughts on the Lee Statue in Sad R-- Part 1: Now Take Down the Pedestal with All That BLM Desecration On It

I am very glad to see that statue is down and I'm hoping the pedestal is down by now as well.  However, I now understand a new time capsule has been buried at the pedestal's cornerstone so I am not sure that it will not be taken down at this time.

What the city of Sad R. allowed done to that pedestal is an extremely sad thing.  I am disgusted by it.

At least the statue was not removed at the top of the pedestal under cover of the night as seems to be the case with most Confederate statues.  Something about why criminal activity tends to take place at night instead of the daylight.

That construction worker who incited onlookers to cheer should be fired, but, since he works for the black man whose company took it down, he will probably receive a big bonus.  Of course, the Team Henry Enterprises Co. was created to take down other Confederate statues just a few days before that happened.  Devon Henry is a close friend and big contributor to Sad R.'s mayor, who is also a black man.  I always thought there was something funny about all that.

Between Sad R.'s mayor and Sad V.'s governor (a white man), both of whom are Democrats, that poor state and city are going right down the tubes.  I would move there just to vote against them, but at present the city and whole state is on my boycott list.  So, sadly that won't happen.

But, what surprises me is that I am sure there are a lot of people living in Virginia who are proud of their Confederate heritage, perhaps even a majority of them.  This last November during elections, out  of six places where statue removal was placed on the ballot, all six places voted no.  Of course, now Democrats and their black allies sure won't be placing anything up to the will of the people anymore.

Statue of Lee Comes Down in Sad V.-- Part 2: A Sad Day in U.S. History

"Any remnant like this that glorifies the lost cause of the Civil War, it needs to come down," said Gov. Ralph Northam, who called it, "hopefully a new day, a new era in Virginia.  The Democrat said the statue represented "more than 400 years of history that we should not be proud of."

No arrests were reported and there was no sign of counterprotest.  Workers used a power saw to cut the statue in two, so it can be hauled under highway overpasses to an undisclosed state-owned facility until a decision can be made about its future.

The job was overseen by Team Henry Enterprises led by Devon Henry, a black executive who faced death threats after his company's role in removing other Confederate statues was made public last year.

Statue of Robert E. Lee Comes Down in Virginia (Or Is It Sad Va.?)

A crowd erupted in cheers and song Wednesday as workers hoisted one of the nation's largest Confederate monuments off a pedestal of Gen. Robert E. Lee towered over Virginia's capital city for more than a century.  Richmond was also the capital of the Confederacy.

This was a magnificent example of public art.  See the painting of the statue on its dedication back in the late1800s.  Again, I just don't see how people could have lived with the statue over a hundred years before some of them realized they were offended by it?

The statue was lowered to the ground just before 9 am (How about that?  A statue removed during the daytime instead of the dead of the night.) after a construction worker who strapped harnesses around Lee and his horse lifted his arms in the air and counted, "Three, two, one!" to jubilant shouts from hundreds of people.

A work crew began cutting it into pieces.

Believe me, there are many of us who are quite less than jubilant over this affront to our heritage.

General Lee Statue to Come Down This Week in Sad R.-- FINALLY

This is jumping ahead a bit as this is current news and I am just up to August 26 in this blog.

But, I read today that the huge statue of Robert E. Lee in Sad R. is FINALLY coming down.  I wish it had been taken down soon after the state of Sad V and Sad R allowed BLM and their white minions to do their hate crimes to it last summer.

Every time I see a picture of what it looks like now, I see red and just can't believe this hate crime was allowed (even encouraged) to take place.  It certainly reflects poorly on Sad T. and its state.

Hopefully Democrats and BLM will pay for its removal and also restoration.  Now there should be plans as to where it should go.  All costs to move and replace it should also be paid for by those who want it gone.

**  Alabama ranks third in nation for number of Confederate symbols removed in 2020.  (That has to be embarrassing.  Again, the racist group SPLC has the numbers and says that  12 were removed.  In case you're wondering, Sad V. led the pack with 71 thanks to their sad gov and mayor.    N.C. was second with 24.  The states of embarrassment.)

University of Virginia Removing George Rogers Clark Statue and Making Other Steps At Confederadication-- Part 1

A very interesting article about an institution of higher learning taking steps to erase history.

The University of Virginia on Friday announced it would remove a statue that depicts the subjugation of Native American people and rename  several other campus landmarks and buildings named after slave holders.

They will move the controversial statue honoring George Rogers Clark to an off-campus location.  He was a hero of the American Revolution whose actions helped secure the Northwest Territories (today's Midwest) for the United States.  He made attacks on Indians and the statue hails him as the "Conqueror of the Northwest" and features Indian people braced for subjugation.

They will also be renaming the education school, dropping the name of J.L.M. Curry, a Confederate leader and slaveholder, who advocated for free public education but opposed integrated schools.  They will also be removing the name Henry Malcom Withers m another Confederate leader and slaveholder from the Withers-Brown Hall of the UVA Law School.

The university also plans to rededicate or remove the Hume Memorial Wall, a Confederate memorial honoring Confederate soldier Frank Hume.

**   Proposed Niskayuna school district policy asserts 'black lives matter.'  (Schenectady, New York.  The policy also bans Confederate and Nazi imagery.  I can tell you another racist symbol to me is Black Lives Matter.  Not only that, but all too often BLM demonstrations end up with police confrontations, arson, rioting and looting.  If Confederate symbols are banned, so also should anything with BLM on it.)

**  UVA approves removal of controversial statue.  (Univ. of Virginia in Charlottesville.  Big surprise there.  Like college, like town.  The statue is of American Revolution hero George Rogers Clark.  They also are doing other things to remove the school's history.

**  Fort Smith alters proposed renaming policy.  (Arkansas.  Besides other name changes, also streets now, including Albert Pike Avenue.  They have already announced they will be renaming Albert Pike Elementary School.)

**  Protests continue over Confederate monument in Gaston County.  (North Carolina)

**  Unnamed Confederate soldier  statue to be moved from Albemarle County courthouse in Charlottesville.  (Virginia)

**  Virginia city renames  burial site of Confederate Gen. Stonewall Jackson.  (Lexington, Virginia.  The city council voted unanimously to change the name of Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery to Oak Grove Cemetery.  The article said he owned slaves and fought to defend the practice.  Sadly, I looked at many sites but could not find pictures of the city council to see how many are black people.  Their voting to change the name wouldn't be a racist thing, would it?)

**  Sad R. (the city formerly the Confederate capital and still Virginia capital) has removed  the most Confederate symbols  in the country since the killing of George Floyd.  Here's how it happened.  (This article cited the racist group Southern Poverty Law Center's Confederate hit list.  They still haven't made a new list of BLM "Peaceful protests" that became riots and looting, however.  Strange that such a list-making organization couldn't come up with this kind of list.)

**  New Mississippi flag  design to appear on November ballot after Confederate  emblem dropped.  (All questions about statue removal or whether Confederate flags should be displayed or school names should be decided by popular vote.  I for one would live with the decision of the people.  Unfortunately, those from the other side probably will not.)

**  Rally demands justice for those  charged after Portsmouth Confederate monument protest.  (If you watch the video of that night, you know this was an out-of-control mob of rioters and people committing hate crimes on that statue.  I would say that the very fact they are being charged shows there is some modicum of justice still left in the Sad State of Virginia.

Did You Hear the One About the Virginia Senator Charged With Two Felonies For What She Did at the Portsmouth Statue Hate Crime?

**  BREAKING:  Sen. Lucas charged with two felonies for June incident  at Portsmouth Confederate monument.   (Senator Louise Lucas, Democrat and a black woman.  Conspiracy to commit  a felony and injury to a monument in excess of $1,000.  Also warrants have been issued for a Portsmouth school board member, NAACP members and even members of the public defenders office.  I am shocked by this as I thought BLM had carte blanche to do whatever they want to Confederate statues, especially in a state like Virginia.  So, there is some law in the state after all.)

A video accompanies the article which shows BLM doing their BLM thing on that monument.  A real hate crime in other words.  Part of the video supposedly showed what the state senator did to get charged, but I didn't really see her doing anything wrong.  But just the fact that she was present when crimes were being committed and supporting the crimes is enough in my book to arrest her.

This is one video you need to watch.  I don't know why the police just stood by and watched, although I am glad they are now finally taking action.  Watch the whole video (which takes a minute to upload.  There is even a complete list of people charged so far.

The state governor, rather than being shocked and demanding her resignation, is supporting her.  But, then again, he is a Democrat and one of those white people who are pledged to BLM.  Plus, he is a committed supporter of Confederadication.

**  Liverpool, site of the last surrender in US Civil War, grapples with its Confederate links.  (A very interesting, but skewed account by a real Confederate-hater.  I'll be taking the non-hate stuff out and writing about it in my Civil War Navy blog.)

**  City removes Confederate  monument from Bicentennial Park in Williamsburg.  (Virginia)

**  Hit  'em where it hurts--  how economic  threats are a potent tool for changing people's minds about the Confederate flag.  (In other words, if you don't like Confederate flags or statues, boycott.  That is exactly what I do to any Southern city removing statues.  I don't go there anymore.  And, I'm thinking before long that I won't be able to go anywhere in the former Confederacy.  Oh well.  I may never be able to go to Virginia again.)

Renaming in Jacksonville, Letting the People Decide.

**  City Council votes to rename Hemming Park and Confederate Park.  (Jacksonville, Florida.  Hopefully SPLC got this information so they can add it to their Confederate "victims" list.    Hemmings Park was named after Charles C. Hemming in 1899 after he put up a large Confederate monument in the park.  The monument was taken down in June 2020.

Hemmings Park is now James Weldon Johnson Park, named after a Civil Rights activist and NAACP leader.  He deserves an honor, but this is a slap in the face to some.

**  Court orders referendum request on Confederate statue.  (Front Royal, Virginia.  Imagine voting on an issue like that.  Let the people have the say.  A surprising turn of events out of Sad Virginia.  Why are Blacks so afraid to let the people vote?  Do they think they will lose?  Even if the people vote to let the statue remain, BLM and their white minions will "topple' the statue after defacing it.  That's the BLM Way.)

**  Talbot County votes to keep Confederate monument for now. (Maryland.The Talbot Boys who served in the Confederate Army.  Some want it to be put to a vote of the people, in other words, a referendum.  That's the way to make this sort of decision.  It should not be left up to politicians, especially Democratic ones.  We know how they will vote.)
