Central Camera to Reopen After BLM Looted and Burned It-- Part 3: Owner Not Angry at People Who Destroyed It

The 72-year-old Don Flesch, owner of Central Camera, quickly earned praise on social media for keeping his cool as BLM looted and then burned his place of business.  He further refused to be angry at the people who destroyed it.

"What good does anger have, and what good does thinking about what's gone?" he said.  "I'm angry about what's tied to the legacy of this poor guy, Mr. Floyd ... that there were riots that destroyed things in his name.  That's not in his name.  That bothered me quite a bit and it still does."

Since that night, several Central Camera employees occasionally have been setting up a tent outside the ruined store to sell merchandise.  But a lack of people in the Loop, because so many companies have people working from home as well as the numerous businesses looted and destroyed by the BLMers, have hurt sales.  Flesch wonders how many of his 17 furloughed workers he'll be able to call back.

And, still many media outlets just refer to those nights as demonstrations and not riots and none of them uses the term BLM when mentioning what happened.

The Southern Poverty Law Center  (SPLC) says it was named after George Pickett, the Confederate general.  It might have been named for a local landowner by the name of Pickett.  Now, of course, there are people who want the name changed because of Confederadiaction.)

**  (By the way,since the SPLC is so big into lists, when are they going to come out with a list of all cities where BLM "protest" marches took place since George Floyd was murdered.  I would also like to know in how many was there rioting, looting and arson and the estimated amounts of damage.  Come on, it's just one more list and after all, you are the experts on those lists.)

**  Colin Powell:  We need to rename Confederate-named bases 'as quickly as we can.'  (Like I said, I am also of that belief.  That's alright, Colin, everybody is entitled to their own opinion.  I'd still support you for president.)

Help, I Can't Keep Up

Bring back those good old days in April, in the early stages of the coronavirus, when all these incessant attacks on all things Confederate by the new Tyranny of the Blacks took a vacation.

I only had to write four blog entries that month about this mess.

Now, I find it impossible to keep up with the affronts that you see everywhere.  I have to wonder if there is one single Confederate statue anywhere which hasn't had a hate crime committed against it.

If the attacks would stop, this blog would also stop.

But, I don't think it will last much longer because I am fairly sure that by the end of this year, maybe before, every single Confederate statue, memorial, name, flag and everything else will be gone as we have an updated version of November 9-10. 1938.

The Floyd Tragedy Has Caused Open Season on Confederate Memorials

That much enjoyed respite that we had when the Confederate-haters took a break during the coronavirus pandemic has come to an end.  Part of this is due to the relaxing of the restrictions that were emplaced for it, but the biggest thing has been the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.

So many Confederate monuments had hate crimes committed against them (and not vandalism as the media likes to call it) and then we had the situation in Birmingham, Alabama with that city's mayor who needs to be arrested and then the college professor who sent out directions on how to topple obelisks to rioters.

What is wrong with that city?

Too bad, I was enjoying not having to do this blog, but looks like that time is over.

About That Memphis Thing With Nathan Bedford Forrest-- Part 1

From the May 12, 2020, Fox 13 News (Memphis, Tn.)  Remains of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest to be removed from Health Sciences Park" by Greg Coy.

Surprisingly, the news segment just said he was a Confederate general and that he was a former slave trader.  Probably the first time I've ever seen a news article not mentioning that he was a founder of the KKK.  I was shocked.

The remains if Confederate general and former slave trader Nathan Bedford Forrest  and his wife will leave Memphis for good.  Exactly when is not known because of the COVID-19 situation.

His family and supporters and the group that operates the park have reached an agreement.  The lawsuit about his remains is over.  A spokesman for Forrest's family has told Fox News that the bodies will be taken to a place near to where the general was born.

This argument in Memphis has been extremely divisive.

His remains and those of his wife were buried in what is now known as Health Sciences Park in 1904, not in the cemetery as was directed by his will.  The park was known as Forrest Park until recently.

Charlottesville's Further Confederate Statue "Vandalism"

And, I put quotation marks around "vandalism" because it is NOT vandalism, but a Hate Crime.

The words "The Pandemic" were spray-painted on the bases of both the statue honoring Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.  Arrows directed up from the words to the statue.

Last year the Lee statue was  also "vandalized" twice.  Once with the words "Impeach Trump" and the other with "This Is Racist."

So now, they're blaming the coronavirus on Confederates.

Black Woman Offended by Confederate Flag Face Mask in Utah

From ABC 4 Utah ABC  "Walmart responds after customer raises concern about employee wearing face mask with confederate flag" by Rosie Nguyen.  (Hey, ABC, it's Confederate, not confederate.)

And now, another Confederate flag face mask story, this time in Harrisville, Utah.  A black woman was offended.  This after the Michigan legislator also wore one that caused a ruckus.

Evidently, those Confederate-haters have now taken the battle from the flags, to the statues and memorials to face masks in these "V" Days.

Of course, the employee was made to change the face mask.  No word as to their being fired for the affront.

About Those Protesters At the Michigan State Capitol

While watching video from last night and pictures taken yesterday, I would say there just might be a bigger problem at the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing than some guy wearing a Confederate face mask.

You just have to wonder about those legislators there who have proposed a bill to ban any Confederate items (even if they might be considered a life-saving thing like a face mask in these days) of you-know-what).

Some of the protesters even had guns, far more likely to cause bodily harm than a face mask, even if it is part of a Confederate flag.  I was happy to see that there were no Confederate flags out there, however.  Wouldn't want to send those anti-Confederate folks into any kind of life-threatening shock.

Not to mention that at least half of the protesters were not practicing social distancing nor were they wearing face masks.

And, even if there was a Confederate flag out there, I don't think it would be so much as a racist statement, but much the same as the American Revolution "Don't Tread On Me" flags denoting people in rebellion.  I saw many of those.

Michigan Legislator Introduces Bill to Disallow Confederate Flags at State Capitol Grounds (No More Confederate Face Masks)

Senator Sylvia  Santana,(D-Detroit) introduced the bill,saying:

"The Confederate battle flag is viewed by many -- regardless of gender, ethnicity, or political affiliation --  as a symbol of hate and racism.  It represents a tragic time  in American history that led millions of Americans  to fight and die against  the oppression of slavery.

"Some claim it is a symbol of southern pride, however, Michigan's role as a stalwart member of the Union during the Civil War should preclude those in Michigan claiming southern pride.  A such, the display of a Confederate flag is an insult to the nearly 15,000 Michiganders who gave their lives to preserve the Union.

"This building and out Capitol grounds represent the values, morals, and conscious of Michiganders.  There simply  isn't the need to allow such a divisive  symbol to be used as a prop to knowingly, and purposefully , provoke anger and intimidation where we as legislators  are all working together for the common good of all Michiganders."

And, of course, we know what sparked her outrage this past week.  That horrible Confederate flag face mask.  However, in these days of the virus and regarding the shape of her district of Detroit, I think she has more on her plate than just someone wearing a Confederate face mask.

Ban Those Confederate Face Masks

Even with all this coronavirus stuff going on these days, the Confederate-haters still find time to attack our heritage.  (Although, I must say, the attacks have greatly lessened since mid-March which is why I stopped doing this blog on a near daily basis.)

One of the latest, was the Confederate (First National) flown along with an 1860s United States flag at the Kentucky courthouse that had to be taken down because of certain people's objections.  The two flags were put up to honor the dead on both sides during the war, especially since the state was so torn apart in the war.

Most recently, a Michigan legislator was attacked and condemned for wearing what appeared to be a Confederate flag face mask.  He took it off right away and said it wasn't a Confederate flag.  (I saw a picture of him wearing it and it was a Confederate flag.)

You mean, then, that the Confederate-haters would rather that we risk our lives or those of others around us than take the chance of offending them with that hated symbol?

Virginia Confederate-Haters Will Have to Wait Until July to Start Destroying History

I was very disappointed that Virginia's Democratic governor, even with the pandemic going full bore, would take the time to sign that bill to remove Confederate monuments.

But, at least those haters will have to wait until July 1, to start their desecrations.

So, SPLC, NAACP, BLM and all your white minions will have to put the celebration on hold until then.

Those of you who want the Confederate monuments to remain, have to make sure you vote the Democrats out of office in November.  Remember, the voting to remove the monuments went along party lines.  Democrats voted to remove, Republicans voted to keep.

And, I believe most Virginians don't want them removed.

Removal should be up to public referendum.

Virginia Grants Towns Permission to Remove Confederate Monuments

From the  April 112, 2010, WAMU Virginia.

Not even the coronavirus could stop Virginia from taking the final step to destroy its heritage and denigrate those who so valiantly defended their homes over 150 years ago.  It will be a feeding frenzy to bring down all the memorials and monuments.

The governor signed the bill this past Saturday, April 11, just one day before the Civil War began in 1861 and two days after it ended in 1865.

Both chambers of the state's legislative branch voted to to this along party lines.  Republicans voted against it.  Democrats voted for it.  Hopefully, those people in the state who want the statues to remain where they are (and I believe if they put it to a vote by the people and not the politician they would remain) will remember who voted to do what and vote overwhelmingly to at least get the Democrats out of office in November.  And, as soon as the the present governor's term ends in 2022, do the same for him.

I imagine those people in Charlottesville will be partying out in the streets over this.  No wait, at least they can't show their joy at destroying other people's heritage at this time.

Let's enjoy this moratorium.  At least one thing comes out of these days.  Those Confederate-attackers are too busy with "V" to go after the monuments and memorials.

NO NEW ATTACKS ON CONFEDERATE STATUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder what has happened to their vim and verve in their cause to destroy history?  Oh yes, the big "V".

**  There were some letters to the editor.

**  One of the letters was about someone supposedly a black Confederate soldier named Louis Napoleon Nelson.

**  The Baltimore Sun had an article about the "V" closing the Maryland General Assembly and the last time was when one-third of its members were arrested by Union troops in 1861 as being Southern sympathizers and imprisoned at Fort McHenry.  This effectively stopped a possible secession for the state.
