Are these UDC members the white supremacists who put up all those racist monuments BLM has warned us about? How about those Confederate veterans above them? Some mighty desperate and despicable folks if you ask me.

States with Most Confederate Memorials

DECEMBER 20, 2022

**  States with most Confederate memorials.  (73 Confederate monuments were removed or renamed in 2021.  There are still 723 of them left.   This has to really upset SPLC and the Washington Post.))

**  West Point commences remediation efforts.  (There are 13 Confederate assets and memorabilia that need to be removed.  Personally, I would like to see the Confederate Armstron cannon captured at Fort Fisher and on display at the Point's Trophy Point returned to the fort.  I could definitely live with that.  Hey, after all it is CONFEDERATE!!)

***************************

DECEMBER 21, 2022

**  West Point to remove monuments to Confederate alumni.

**  Another take on the Confederate flag flown at the Christmas parade.  (Greenville, Texas)

Parades and Renaming

NOVEMBER 11, 2022

**  Confederate flag controversy spurs changes to Return Day Parade.  (Delaware)

**  Democrats protest against Confederate  flag during Return Day parade.  (Delaware.  Imagine Democrats protesting agains Confederate flags?)

**  Tense night as Montgomery board renames Lee, Jeff Davis high schools.  (Alabama.  Again, if the majority of the students are Blacks in these schools I completely back renaming the schools.  Both are renamed for Blacks.  Why does all renaming have to be for black people?  Are Blacks the only ones who deserve schools to be renamed for?)

Boycotts, Unfulfilled Promises, Fort Hood and 75%

OCTOBER 18, 2022

**  Del. Dems urged to boycott Return Day parade carriages from  Confederate flag flying museum.  (Delaware.  How dumb.)

**  After unfulfilled promises, calls to remove  Greenville's Confederate statue stir again.  (South Carolina)

**  Five years on, what does the removal of  Confederate statues mean to the city?  (Virginia)

**  Fort Hood in Killeen to change name in 2024.  (Texas)

***************************

OCTOBER 19, 2022

**  Survey says 75% of Americans  say Confederate monuments should not remain.  (The dear old folks at SPLC again.  Wonder who they asked?)

Hate Crimes to Confederate Statues Continue and A Prom Dress, Really?

JULY 20, 2022

**  Confederate monument in Murray County defaced.  (Another hate crime.)

**********************************

JULY 21, 2022

**  King George's County Confederate monument may move in September.

**********************************

JULY 22, 2022

**  Jail officer swears her Confederate prom dress isn't racist.  (What does that have to do with the price of beans?)

**  Owensboro  Confederate statue update.

**  Chatsworth man charged with defacing Confederate veterans monument.  (I was shocked to hear that.  I thought that if you committed a hate crime on anything Confederate you'd be honored and feted as a hero.)

**  Sponsors continue to pull out of Faith 4th due to c(C)onfederate  imagery.

Confederates Were American Soldiers As Well. New York Times Doesn't Surprise. How to Take Care of a Flag Controversy

JULY 3, 2022

**  Sons of Confederate Veterans to participate in parade.  (Belton, Texas.  As it ought to be.  Their ancestors were American soldiers too.)

*************************

JULY 4, 2022

**  Army bases that honor  Confederate traitors could soon be renamed  for these heroes.  (New York Times of course.  They were traitors just like our Founding Fathers.)

*************************

July 5, 2022

**  No controversies  in this year's Redman Fourth of July parade.  (Oregon.  Last year there was a Confederate flag controversy.  This year, NO flags other than U.S. and U.S. military were allowed.)

The way I look at it is that if we can't fly our flag, then they shouldn't be able to fly theirs:  Pride and BLM.

Even a Stephen Foster Statue? Lee Statue, No Confederate Flags or Others, CMA

JUNE 30, 2022

**  Why the decommissioned Stephen Foster statue is going to Los Angeles.  (Pittsburgh.  Had a black man playing a banjo at his feet.  Oh, well,)

**  JSAAHC weighs in on Lee statue lawsuit.  (Jefferson School African-American Heritage Center in Charlottesville,Virginia.  They want to "modify" it.  They shouldn't have gotten it in the first place.)

**************************

JULY 1, 2022

**  Only American  flags, U.S. military symbols in Redmond 4th of July parade.  (Oregon.  That means no Confederate , pride, BLM or MAGA allowed.  That's fair enough.  If we can't have our flag, they can't have theirs.)

**  CMA  Fest bans Confederate flag imagery at  country music fest.  (I wonder of that also applies to the other groups mention in the above headline?  So CMA goes the way of NASCAR.)

The USS Confederacy, Georgia Colleges, Black Confederates? No Confederate Flags in Christmas Parade

NOVEMBER 22, 2021

**  Historically Speaking:  Norwich's U.S. Navy frigate, the USS Confederacy.  (Imagine a ship with this name in the U.S. Navy, but it really was. Hopefully we won't have to go back into the past and change the name because it offends certain people.)

**  Georgia regents:  No college name  changes over racial history.  (A list of 75 names of buildings named after people involved with slavery, segregation or mistreatment of Indians.)

*****************************

NOVEMBER 23, 2021

**  Heritage group honors Black men it says were Confederate veterans.  (Alabama.  48th Alabama Re-enactment group. Even though some historians say black Confederates were just a myth.)

**  Confederate flag banned from flying in Mechanicsville Christmas parade.  (Virginia.  As long as anything BLM is also banned.)

**  Confederate monuments to stay in place in Bastrop until relocation plan finalized.  (Texas)

**  Next step for Confederate names task force.  (Virginia.  You know, removing the names and renaming them for Blacks.)

The Courts Seem to Be Anti-Confederate. Renaming the Bases, Damaging the Monuments and Contextualizing

SEPTEMBER 30,2021

**  Court says Georgia city can ban Confederate flags in parade.  (Alpharetta, Georgia.  Like I said in the last post, it is unlikely we'll get any help from the court systems.

**  PG trustees opt out of signing  Fort Lee name change resolution.  (Prince George County, Virginia.  They want the name changed to Fort Arthur J. Gregg, a black general.  He is deserving of the name change, but let's try not to rename EVERY Confederate-named fort after a black person as some people evidently want to happen.

*********************************

OCTOBER 1, 2021

**  Deputies looking for suspects who damaged Confederate soldier statue in Newnan, stole pieces of it.  (Newnan, Georgia.  It happened on the night of Sept. 17.  And here I was thinking it was okay to damage a Confederate statue.  Maybe there is hope after all.)

**  Virginia  guidelines for contextualizing Confederate monuments still in works.  (Just remember, the current dogma about "The Lost cause" being a racially based uprising is nothing more than the current beliefs of certain people.  What will it be ten years from now?)

**  Charlottesville will accept offers for Confederate monuments until October 15.  (Virginia.  The only offers they should consider are those from the UDC and SCV.  And all costs for removal storage and relocation should be paid for by the town or, even better, those who wanted them gone.

Of Flags, Fountains, Spray-Painting, Statues, Parades and Sad R.

SEPTEMBER 28, 2021

**  Confederate flag license plate spurs hostile workplace trial.  (Connecticut)

**  Group that donated Confederate  fountain in Helena wants it back.  (Montana.  Put there in 1916 and removed in 2017 (BGF)  (Before George Floyd) because of racial concerns.  UDC wants it back.

**  Virginia man who spray-painted Confederate monument at Arkansas' Capitol pleads guilty to misdemeanor.  You mean it is possible to arrest folks for desecrating something Confederate?  I didn't think that was possible.)

**  From Plato to Confederate statues:  Students study why  some iconic images are broken.  (DePauw University)

**  Remains of Confederate Gen. A.P. Hill could be reinterred to Culpepper's  Fairview Cemetery.  (Right now they are still in Sad R.  believe me, the sooner we can get all vestiges of the Confederacy out of that town the better.)

**  Court says city can ban Confederate flag in veterans parade.  (Imagine our justice system saying something like that.)

Confederadication: National Cathedral, Charlottesville, Black Monuments, Fort Belvoir, Parades

SEPTEMBER 24, 2021

**  National Cathedral commissions racial-justice themed windows to replace Confederate  iconography.  (Washington, D.C.  Really.  Now in religion?)

**  Charlottesville  starts next step  in bidding process for Confederate statues.  (Virginia.  There should be no bidding.  The statues should be turned over to the SCV and/or UDC for them to decide what to do with them.  All expenses for relocation should be paid for by Charlottesville, or better yet, those who want them gone.)

**  Monuments  marking end of slavery replace Robert E. Lee statue in Virginia.  (Sad R., of course.  The new city law would seem to be only monuments to Blacks can be put up now.  Eventually, I'm sure Monumentless Avenue will have nothing but black statues.)

**  Input sought for new military base  names, including Fort Belvoir.  (Virginia.  Belvoir was the name of a plantation and you know that means slaves.)

**************************************

SEPTEMBER 25, 2021

**  Confederate group fights to wave battle flag in Georgia parade.  (Alpharetta, Georgia.  Banned the Confederate flag.   SCV challenging the ban.  If Confederate flags not allowed, then no other flag except U.S. or state should be allowed either.)

Confederadication: Jacksonville, Maryland, Belle Boyd's Grave, Boy Scouts, Fort Bragg and Monumentless Avenue in Sad R.

SEPTEMBER 15, 2021

**  Rally calls for removal of Confederate monuments in Jacksonville.  (Florida.  About two dozen people.  That is one huge rally.)

**  Last Confederate monument  on Md. public land set to come down.  (Maryland.  The Talbot Boys monument.  This was in the Washington Post.  Do you suppose they are happy about this?)

**  Confederate spy's grave still stands.  (Kilburn City, (Wisconsin Dells) Wisconsin   Belle Boyd's grave site.  The writer, a college student seems to be a real Confederate hater.)

**  Scout official:  Confederate flags flown by  troop in Peach Days parade an honest mistake.  (Utah.  Boy Scouts)

**  Public suggest renaming Fort Bragg after Union General Edward Bragg.  (Like I said, a good idea.)

**  2020-21:  When Confederate monuments came down from Monument Avenue in Richmond.  (Now it's Monumentless Avenue in Sad R.  Too bad the Blacks didn't just make their own avenue to honor their people.)

Tuskegee Councilman Commits a Hate Crime. Faith Parade, Sam and Stephen Probably Okay, South Carolina, Charlottesville and California

JULY 8, 2021

**  'Enough': Tuskegee Councilman Johnny Ford takes saw to Confederate monument in town square.   (Alabama.  He is guilty of a hate crime and should be prosecuted as such.  Not surprisingly, he is a black man and former mayor as well.  Also, time for a recall. Like the Virginia state senator, there is a legal and illegal way to do things.  They ought to know.)

**  Confederate re-enactor groups draw ire at Faith, NC  July 4th parade.  (Wonder who was angry?)

**  Statues of Sam Houston and Stephen  F. Austin likely to stay at US Capitol  despite  House vote.  (Texas.  Wouldn't that make Der Nance mad?)

********************************

JULY 9, 2021

**  Confederate flag to fly again in rally at South Carolina Capitol.

**  Charlottesville officials won't disclose when they plan to remove Confederate statues.  (Virginia.  The sooner the better.  Charlottesville is in the same group with Asheville, N.C. and Richmond, Va.  And, one other positive in their removal is that BLM and their ilk won't get the opportunity to commit hate crimes against them anymore.)

**  Carmel proclaims itself an inclusive city in response to a Confederate flag.  (California.  Confederates need to be included as well.)

Confederadication: Flag Leads to Controversy in Oregon. Virginia, South Carolina, California, North Carolina and Florida

JULY 7, 2021

**  Confederate flag flown during  Redmond 4th of July  parade leads to controversy. (Redmond, Oregon.  Well, it was Oregon and we know about that state.)

**  Loudon County Board votes to begin process to rename Confederate roads, area.  (Virginia.  Now, it would have surprised me more if they had chosen not to rename the roads.  Everybody gush now.)

**  Dueling rallies planned for SC  State House on anniversary of Confederate flag removal.

**  Elk Grove school district's superintendent condemns  2 employees  for displaying Confederate flag. (What did he condemn them to?)

**  North Carolina  Appeals Court denies Asheville bond for Confederate  Vance monument.

**  'Where They Stood' photo project  shows what happened to Florida's Confederate  statues.

Lynching Memorial Okayed for Mississippi Town. No More SCV Vanity Plates in NC. North Carolina, South Carolina, Hate Crime and Confederate Flag

FEBRUARY 2, 2021

**  Lynching memorial approved for Lafayette County Courthouse.  (Oxford, Mississippi.  Seven black lynchings occurred in the the county, (three at the square or near it).  I am all in favor of any historical monument, even one showing the sad side of human nature.  The Confederate monument in the square still stands so it is okay with me as long as this is paid for by private citizens, not the town.)

**  North Carolina stops issuing Confederate license plates.  (These are Sons of Confederate Veterans plates. As long as they take a look at others that some might find offensive.  Hopefully there are no BLM license plates.  I see there are quite a few black fraternity and sorority plates, but since they advance education they are okay.)

**  Pasquotank to talk  future of Confederate monument in Monday meeting.  (North Carolina)

**  Police:  Charleston Battery  Confederate monument vandalized.  (South Carolina.  The Confederate Defenders monument.  BLM written on it.  This is not vandalism.  This is a hate crime.)

**  Pitt County commissioners vote to move Confederate statue that was removed last year from courthouse.  (Greenville, North Carolina.  It will be moved to private property.  The movement should be paid for by those wanting it gone.  No public funds should be used.)

**  Sons of Southern Cross sue Van Buren mayor over Confederate flag at Christmas parade.  (Arkansas.  They can't have the flag in parade.)

Tennessee Governor, Wake Forest Christmas Parade, "Removing Monuments Will Not Lessen Racial Divide"

March 13, 2020

**  House OKs letting Tennessee governor not sign Confederate general day.  (Governor Bill Lee won't have to sign bill honoring Nathan Bedford Forrest.)

**  Letter to the Editor:  New event spreading fear, not cheer.  (SCV commander writing about their exclusion from the Wake Forest Christmas parade.  Not sure who came up with the headline which was confusing.)

**  Removing monuments will not lessen racial divide.   (Staunton, Va. Opinion page.    This person is very right.  If anything, it is making it worse.)

Coast Guard, Two Views, "Honoring Traitors?"

March 6, 2020

**  Coast Guard commandant  sees growing role for Coasties on coronavirus, waffles on Confederate imagery.  (The Coast Guard has not banned Confederate imagery but gives local commanders discretion to deal with it.)

**  Two Views:  Exhalting  the Confederacy in parade is bizarre and confusing.  (An anti-Confederate view.)

**  Two Views:  Honor All Texas veterans, or just some Texas veterans.  (A pro-Confederate view.)

**  You thought you were done honoring traitors?  Not so fast there, Stonewall.  (Esquire)

Virginia Statues, Tucson Parade, and a High School Basketball Game

March 5, 2020

**  Bills that would allow localities to move Confederate monuments takes steps  forward in House, Senate.  (Virginia--  The bill passed both houses already, but with each adding provisions.  Right now they are trying to get the revisions aligned.  I was wondering why the governor hadn't signed it already and every monument removed already.)

**  Tucson Rodeo Parade to ban Confederate 'battle flag'; won't change color guard.  (The mayor and a new council woman objected.  The battle flag is banned, but not the First National Flag which will still be in the color guard of the parade.  Not too bad of a deal for the SCV which can just use the First National or Bonnie Blue Flag.)

**  Confederate veterans are part of Arizona's history.

**  Confederate flag displayed, racial taunts to students at Armstrong basketball game.  (Richmond, Va.--  Armstrong is a primarily black school.  They were playing Central High School in Woodstock, which is primarily a white school.  There is no excuse for what the students at Central did.)

The Second Civil War: Army-Marines, Tucson, Raleigh and Whose Side is HuffPost On?

March 1, 2020

**  Army won't follow Marine Corps and rename Confederate bases.  (Glad to hear it, but I always wondered why so many Army bases were named after Confederates.  You'd think they'd be named after Union generals.)

**  Tucson council member, mayor seek removal of Confederate flags from rodeo parade.  (SCV float.  A picture of the float sure didn't appear to be a white supremacist rally.  Like waving a red flag in front of a bull, you know.)

**  The Army doesn't plan on renaming the 10 installations named  for Confederate leaders.  (And, if you'd like to know what the ten are, feel free to go to the Southern Poverty Law Center site to find out their names.  They keep close watch on anything and everything Confederate in hopes of removal.)

**  Hilton Hotel to host neo-Confederate group conference on the last day of Black History Month.  (HuffPost.  That would be the SCV.  Well, we now know where the Huff stands on all this.  There's that Neo-Nazi mention again.)

The Huff thinks this institute meeting is just the most horrible thing.  However, the article just thought the destruction of the Silent Sam statue was just a case of protesters voicing their beliefs and not students committing a hate crime.

**  YpsiFest move blames on disputes over parking, youth attendance and confederate flags.  (Ypsilanti, Michigan--  Excuse me, Confederate.)

**  Protesters against Sons of Confederate Veterans conference turn against police.  (Raleigh, N.C.--   The police were there to prevent them from getting out of hand and committing criminal acts.  Some didn't like that.)

A Couple Stories Giving a Different View on the Statues As a Woman and Comedians "Dis"

February 29, 2020

**  Confederate monuments speak truth to power.  (From the Richmond Free Press by H.V. Traywick Jr..    A very interesting article /opinion piece.  The Richmond Free Press is a black newspaper, so it was somewhat of a shock to read this in it.

Give it a read as it puts forth some interesting information.

**  Santa Cruz:  Confederate flags are why I refuse to walk in the Tucson Rodeo Parade.  (Tucson, Arizona.  "The Confederate flag is a symbol of oppression, slavery and white supremacy" says Lane Santa Cruz.  Well, we'll certainly miss seeing you in that parade, Mrs. Santa Cruz.

**  Letter to the Editor:  Confederate  memorials like any other war memorials.  (Anniston Star (Alabama) by Billy Price.--  Also giving "Our Side" of the story.  Give it a read.

**  NWA Editorial:  Raising a red flag.  (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette--  About those flags in the Eureka Cemetery.  Against placing the Confederate flags at the graves of Confederate veterans.

**  Comedians 'honor' white nationalist Rep. Steve King with his own Confederate statue.  (Obviously, considering the source, not too flattering."

Civil War II: What Has Happened to Virginia? Has the Whole State Forgotten Its History? Are They Trying to Cover It Up?

February 19, 2020

**  Debunking some of the myths surrounding the Confederate narrative.  (A S.C. college professor wrote this book.

**  Should I speak up about a worker's Confederate battle flag?

**  Camp:  The Southern belle needs a costume change.  (From the UVA student newspaper.  Very anti-Confederate.   Southern belles represent "a warped form of 19th century fact."  Of course, not surprisingly, UVA is in Charlottesville.)

**  Battlefield Battles:  Proposed African-American history museum draws criticism.  (Virginia--  The criticism is by Blacks who say they didn't have input and are afraid it is a Confederate ploy.  But, I am surprised Blacks wouldn't want a museum about them.)

**  Editorial:  First step for monument removal -- check.  (Loudon Va. Times-Mirror--   They applaud the Virginia legislators for putting fate of statues in local hands, rather than state.  But, the problem here is that local cities in Virginia seem to be in the control of Blacks and/or their white minions, who will get rid of this history as fast as they can.

I would support a local referendum by the people on statue removal.  If the people choose to remove it, then remove it.  But, don't leave it up to local governing bodies.

**  Father disturbed when his two-year-old catches racist figurine during Mardi Gras parade.  (WBRZ Baton Rouge, La.--  Among the beads thrown from a float was a caricature of a black man holding a watermelon.  This is a racist thing.  It shouldn't have been thrown.  Of course, though, I doubt that a 2-year-old would be as traumatized by it as was his father.
