Are these UDC members the white supremacists who put up all those racist monuments BLM has warned us about? How about those Confederate veterans above them? Some mighty desperate and despicable folks if you ask me.

Charlotte, Opinion, Crazy U.S. Senate Candidate in Louisiana and Alabama Newspaper

FEBRUARY 12, 2022

**  Charlotte changes more streets named for Confederate leaders.  (North Carolina)

**  Confederate statue  represents racism and should be removed.  (Opinion)

*******************************

FEBRUARY 13, 2022

**  Watch:  US Senate  candidate  burns Confederate flag in political ad.  (Louisiana.  And, he is a black man and a Democrat.  Really surprising.)

**  Alabama Memorial  Preservation Act is a bad law,  and amendment will make it worse.  (Dothan, Alabama Eagle editorial.)

And, a Third Virginia County Votes to Keep Their Confederate Monument

I just found out that there was a third Virginia County that voted to keep their Confederate monument where it is.  And that one would be Nottaway County.

There, 68% of the people voted to keep it.

Now, remember, Blacks pretty much all voted to move it and then there were the liberal white Democrats that also would vote to move it.

Kind of says something.

The other two counties were Middlesex and Matthews.

But, remember these are non-binding votes and the politicians can still remove them.

Again, I am not against removing Confederate monuments from public places, but this must be done with respect and dignity.

Nottaway County is also the home of Fort Pickett, named for Confederate Major General George E. Pickett.  It is used primarily as a Virginia National Guard training facility.  It's name  will be changed by a federal directive aimed at all military bases named after Confederates.

Personally, I think all statue removals should be put to the public vote and not a group of politicians.

Let's Just Hope the Politicians in These Three Counties Heed Public Opinion.

They Put the Statue Removal to a Vote in Two Virginia Counties and Guess What Happened?

This last Tuesday, Virginia had their elections.  I was so glad to see the Republicans do so well.  The new governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general are all Republicans and it appears that Republicans took back control of the House of Delegates.

And, then I found that two Virginia counties actually put the removal of Confederate statues to a vote.  I was very surprised that the Democrats and their black allies would do this after the results of the vote in the last election when six counties had a similar vote.

All six counties voted to leave the Confederate monuments where they were.  After that, I was sure the Democrats would never allow this to come up to a people vote and rely on politicians to make the decision.

When they put it to a public vote about whether or not to remove a Confederate statue, it would seem the majority of the people prefer to keep them where they are.  Which begs the question as to who the Virginia politicians are really representing, their constituents or special interest groups?

Remove or Not to Remove.  That Is The Question.  --Old Secesh

Virginia Counties Vote Overwhelmingly to Keep Confederate Monuments

From the November 3, 2021, Daily Press (Virginia) by Dave Ress.

Virginia voters in two counties, Matthews and Middlesex, voted overwhelmingly to keep their Confederate monuments.

Actually, the headline makes it appear that a whole lot of the counties voted to keep them, but this was just two of the 95 counties that voted.  But, either way, we'll take a victory in this lopsided war wherever we can find one.

Matthews County voters rejected a proposal to relocate the  county's Soldier's and Sailor's Monument on the courthouse green at the corner of Church and Court streets by 3,778 (80%) to 939 (20%).

In Middlesex County, the vote against moving its Confederate monument from the courthouse  grounds in Saluda was 3,229 (75%)  to 1,076 (25%).

Do remember, however, these votes are non-binding, but hopefully the politicians can see the writing on the wall.

So, Why Were So Many Democrats Shown the Door in Virginia? I'd Say Folks Are Fed Up with the Attacks on the Confederacy

The Democrats are scratching their heads trying to figure out why the voting this past Tuesday went so against them.

Many believe it was because people are upset with Joe Biden and his policies.

I sure know why I would have been anti-Democrat (and before the last election, I voted for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama).

And that is because of the Democrat and black allies war on any and everything Confederate.  What they have been doing with Confederate statues alone warrants this.  And, that is not just in Virginia.
The people of Virginia have spoken.  They're not going to get a fair shake on Confederate monuments from the Democrats.

It would appear that the majority of people in Virginia have spoken.  Hopefully the Democrats will remember this in the future.

And, remember, the Democrats were the party of Jim Crow and the Dixiecrats.  Blacks should never forget this.

Of course, now hopefully Democrats at local levels have also been shown the door.

Like I Said, Let the People Vote to Decide on Monument Removal.  --Old Secesh

Well, Maybe There's Hope for Virginia After All

I was quite interested in the Virginia elections this past Tuesday.  The Democrats controlled the state government and things these last two years have almost been worse for those of us with Confederate heritage than when we had Union armies marching all over the state and destroying most everything they could get their hands on.

In other words, the Democrats had to go.

The Republican candidates for governor, lt.gov, and attorney general all won.  Plus, it appears the Republicans have taken control back in the House of Delegates.

So, maybe there is some hope for that state.

I do not know if there was any voting by counties or towns about removal of Confederate statues, but doubt that there were.  After the voting the last time, those that hate all things Confederate would not dare to put it up to a vote of the people.  They know they would lose.

Okay, Virginia. Here's Your Opportunity to Send a Message to the Democrats. Get Out and Vote for Anyone But a Democrat.

The Democrats and their allies are behind all this Hate Confederate Campaign that so abounds in your state.  It is now time to show how you feel and vote them out of power.  It won't be easy because their allies are sticking 100% behind them, but a solid turnout and vote could turn the trick.

Vote for anybody but a Democrat.

Hey, Virginia, Here's Your Chance to Vote the Bums Out

I see that this Tuesday, November 2, is election time in your state.  Unfortunately, the current governor evidently is not running for reelection as I didn't see his name listed.  That is one person I'd really like to see shown the door.

However, there is a Democrat  running for governor.  If you are tired of the Democrats running roughshod over your Confederate heritage, perhaps it is time to do something about it.

And, evidently all members of the House of Delegates are also up for election and/or reelection.

After the local voting on removal of Confederate monuments earlier this year, there is little chance the Democrats will put it up for a people's vote anymore, so here's your chance to head them off at the pass.

Why Must Every Confederate Statue Removed Be Replaced by a Black Statue? Is This the New Law of the Land? Memphis, Texas

DECEMBER 22, 2020

**  Statue of Confederate leader removed from US Capitol.  (Virginia's Robert E. Lee statue.  Will be replaced by a black woman named Barbara Johns.  She is deserving of recognition.  But. why must all Confederate statues be replaced by black statues?  Is that the new law?    And guess what speaker of the house applauded this?

Hopefully Virginians will notice this is a move from their Democratic governor and all his Democratic legislators and will remember this when elections come up next year.)

**  Three years after Confederate statues removed, activists say the work isn't over.  (That was one real slick move Memphis pulled off to get rid of those statues and park names.  They should write a book on how to skirt the law and get away with it.  Again, I have to wonder how you get to be an activists.  Are you awakened one night by your fairy godmother who twangs you on the head with her magic wand and "Bingo, you're an activist?")

**  Protesters call Gainesville 'Most racist small town in Confederate States of America.'  (Texas.  I see they have "decorated" the statue there with their hate messages.  Isn't that illegal to destroy or deface public property.  Oh yes, they are BLM so that doesn't matter.)

And, Unlike BLM, I Will Abide By What the People Vote

The sad thing about the people voting in the few places where it happened Tuesday, is that if BLM lose, and the people vote to let the statues remain, they will continue committing hate crimes on the monuments and demanding their removal until they can get some of the spineless politicians to do their dirty work.

On the other hand, I am fully willing to abide by the vote.  If the people vote to remove them, then remove them.  And that will be that.

However, the monuments must be removed to a museum, cemetery or some other site deemed acceptable to either the SCV or UDC.

Confederadication or Voting?

NOVEMBER 2, 2020

**  Trump, Biden to share ballot with magic mushrooms, sex education and the Confederate flag.

**  Mississippi Board says county can remove Confederate statue.  (Lowndes County)

**  Alabama county plans fence to protect Confederate monument.  (Marshall County, near Birmingham.)

**  Election 2020:  Future of confederate monument at Halifax courthouse a local standout at Tuesday's presidential election..  (Come on Gazette-Virginian.  You must know that Confederate is a proper name.)

**  City set to vote on monument's future.  (Brunswick)

A Deeply Troubling Election, Cities Preparing for BLM Riots and Looting

It was with much consternation that I saw news clips over this past weekend about Chicago's preparations for tomorrow's election.  It is going to be all forces out to prevent anticipated rioting depending upon the election's outcome.

It is a sad day that this country has come to this.

And, we know who will be doing the burning, looting and rioting.  They have already done it twice in Chicago since he end of May.

Rest assured, if Joe Biden wins, Trump supporters will not be out in the streets rioting.  But, if Donald Trump wins, you can bet that BLM and their white minions will be doing their usual thing.  And that is burning, looting and rioting.

Media will be out in force on those streets.  Always makes for good ratings.

It Must Be Nice to Have Friends in High Places, Right Devon? Wait Till You Hear What Happened in Sad Richmond!

AUGUST 17, 2020

**  Proposed effort  could revive Mississippi's Confederate-themed state flag.  (Oh, No!!  Say It Ain't So!!  Well, actually, the state should have left it up to the voters at a referendum in November.  Same with Confederate statue removals.  Never leave the question up to a spineless group of politicians who are afraid to stand up to Blacks and their BLM strike force.)

**  Fort Myers' Robert E. Lee statue will stay down for now.  (Florida.  Trying to find out who owns it.  This was primarily an effort by the local NAACP riding on the groundswell of George Floyd protest.)

**  Report:  Mayor hired political donor to remove statues.  (Sad Richmond's (Va.) Sad Mayor  agreed to pay $1.8 million to a firm linked to one of his political donors.  The firm, NAH LLC was created ten days before the sad mayor  ordered the statue removal.  Reports have this as a shell company for the contracting firm of Devon Henry who has contributed $4,000 to the sad mayor since 2016.)

**   (Well, looks like time for sad Richmond to do some more removing.)

**  Carroll County retired Mississippi state flag but won't budge on Confederate flag.  (Carrollton.  Still flies on courthouse grounds.)

Sad Richmond's Sad Mayor Was Elected in 2016 for a Four-Year Term.  So, Evidently He Is Up for Re-election This Year.  Hopefully, There Will be Some Folks Upset Enough About the Confederate Statues That They Let Him Know in a Few Months.  --Old Secesh

Civil War II: Trump, Bases, Flags, Texas, Democrats and Michigan

JULY 21, 2020

**  Trump argues Confederate base names, battle flags should stay.

**  Committees call for removal of Confederate memorials  on Capitol grounds.  (Texas.  Seven on the grounds.)

**  'Time is overdue':  Group of Democrats call for removal of Confederate  monuments at Texas Capitol.  (There you go again.  Democrats.  Hopefully those of you who admire the Confederacy will remember this in the voting booth.  Democrats must be defeated.)

**  Grand Lege students  won't be allowed to display Confederate flag on vehicles, in school.  (Michigan.  Hopefully, this will also apply to anything BLM as well.)

**  Pensacola attorneys say there are no legal grounds to stop Confederate monument removal.  (Florida)

Are We Going to Have an Election with Racial Overtones? You Betcha

JULY 20, 2020

**  'I don't care  what the military says:'  Trump says.  (Somehow not a presidential-style quote.  But, I tell you, if all this Confederadication doesn't stop soon, I may have to vote for all Republicans, including the top spot, and I'd really rather not.  We need a cease fire BLMers and Democrats!!!)

**  Rep. McEachin urges officials to reconsider renaming Army bases honoring Confederates.  Wants the names of Fort Lee and Pickett changed immediately.  Wants Fort Lee named for a black officer.(Black Democrat.  Like I said before, I am in favor of renaming the Army bases, but with the costs of doing that to be paid by the people who demand them changed.  Plus, none to be renamed after any Black person, other than Colin Powell, for at least ten years.)

**  Tom Cotton defends Portland arrests by federal agents  comparing them to Fort Sumter.  (Republican senator from Arkansas.  The situation in Portland seems to be out of control.  The mayor and governor of the state should really crackdown on these rioters. Is this going to be one racial presidential election or what?)

**  SC lawmaker:  Move a Confederate  monument, lose state money.  (Republican representative Bill Taylor.)

**  From the last article, from July 1, 2020.  Orangeburg City Council votes in favor of removing Confederate statue, renaming John C. Calhoun Drive.  Because of SC Confederate statue protection law, both moves go to the state government.

12 Days to Virginia's Confederate Statue Orgy

Let the parties and celebrations begin in that poor deluded state.  And, I am sure a certain group of people and their minions will be ecstatic beyond themselves.  I just don't know how things got so bad in Virginia.  But, much of it can be traced to the Democratic party after they gained control of the state government.

Sadly, since I don't live in that state (and right now sure am glad I don't) I am unable to vote in their election in November.  However, as far as voting for Democrats at any level here in Illinois, those people will not be receiving my votes, other than our McHenry County Board chairman.  And, I should point out that I usually vote for quite a few Democrats.

Last election, I voted for Hillary Clinton and the one before that, I voted for Barack Obama.  I also voted for Obama when he ran for U.S. senator and Carole Mosely-Braun when she ran for that office.

I am hoping that in November, I won't have to vote for the Republican, but if Joe Biden doesn't come out against the desecration of Confederate monuments, I may be forced to do exactly that.

SCV Helps Restore Grave Sites at "Vandalized" Cemetery, Confederate Railroad to Perform, Some Candidates Stand to Keep Confederate Monuments

February 9, 2020

**  Historians, funeral workers reassemble graves of Confederate soldiers at Alva cemetery.  (Florida.  Members of the USS Hannah Daughters of the American Revolution and the Sons of Confederate Veterans.  No one is currently accused of the hate crime.)

**  Confederate flag an unwelcome symbol in local community.

**  Award-winning country band 'Confederate Railroad' coming to Elizabethton.  (Tennessee.  Hopefully Illinois' Gov. Toilets won't hear about it."

**  Candidates divided on Confederate monument, unified in valuing family.  (Denton, Texas    At least there were some who said the monuments should remain standing.  That takes a lot of courage in these days.)

About That Proposed USCT Monument in Richmond, Virginia

In the last post, I mentioned that the Richmond City Council, which has been doing everything it can do to have the Confederate statues on Monument Avenue removed, is thinking about putting a new statue up there to honor black soldiers from the USCT (United States Colored Troops).

Again, I always support anything that relates to history.  However, I stand completely opposed to this current effort to remove all Confederate statues, memorials and plaques from all public spaces (and even private).  I am hoping that this current movement by Virginia Democrats to push this agenda does not mean I will have to vote for Republicans in the next election.  I would rather pick and choose my candidates as usual.

Anyway, I got to wondering about the USCT regiment that the Richmond City Council wants to be placed on Monument Avenue, especially in regards to the 14 Medals of Honor they received so did some research.

I will write about that research in my Saw the Elephant: Civil War blog later today.  To view it, go to My Blogs column to the right of this and click on it.
