Should Confederate Monument Removal Be an Issue?

APRIL 25th, 2023

**  How do you feel about c(C)onfederate monuments  being a campaign issue in mayor's race?  (I'd consider it an issue.  And, I also believe that any proposal to remove a Confederate monument should be put to a vote of the people, not just a small group of politicians.)

**  Activists are calling  on state leaders  to leave Confederate Memorial Day in the past.  (Two guesses as to which race these activists belong.  First one doesn't count.  Is this a racist thing?)

**  Where Jacksonville  mayoral candidates Deegan and Davis stand on Confederate monument removal.  (Florida.   A lot of this revolves around if tax dollars should be used for removal.  I have always said that those that want them removed should foot the bill.)

Robert E. Lee Statue, Cost of Removing Pedestals $1.5 Million, Racism and U.S. Capitol Attack

**  Robert E. Lee statue to exit  Richmond's wastewater plant.  (Sad R.  That's right, a further slap in the face from the mayor and his cohorts, store it at a wastewater plant.  Will this ever end.  Oh yes, and turn it over to a black museum.  One can only imagine what horrible things they are going to do with it.)

**  Removal of remaining Confederate monument pedestals could cost approximately  $1.5 million.  (Sad R.  That seems to be way high, but the money goes to a big-time mayor supporter.  Of course, the cost of all this should be paid for by people who want the monuments and their pedestals gone.  None should come from public funds.)

**  Racism's prominent role in January 6 US Capitol Attack.  (If this was racism, I would think it was in response to what the BLMers were doing during the days of riots all year during 2020.  And, let's face it, most of those rioters, looters and arsonists committing hate crimes were of one particular race of people.)

But, I agree, those pictures of them idiots attacking the Capitol is as offensive to me as the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.  A horrible day in U.S. history.

A big reason I do this blog is because you rarely hear about these things going on.  I just want people to know that just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean it is over.  And, if these attacks on any and all things Confederate ever end, so too will this blog.  I already have too many to do and would be very happy to drop this one.

**  King George  seeks to unravel 'knotty history' of  Confederate memorial.  (King George County, Virginia.)

**  In Baltimore, Harriet Tubman honored where Confederate statues once stood.  (Not that Harriet Tubman doesn't deserve recognition, but putting her statue where the Confederate ones were is just rubbing salt into the wound.  Put it elsewhere.  I also believe that the Arthur Ashe statue and that one at the art museum in Sad R. should be removed from what used to be Monument Avenue.  The art museum one should go inside and Ashe placed elsewhere.  The name Monument Avenue should also be stricken and no monuments put up there in the future.  Turn it into a park, but without a black name.)

**  Special prosecutor  to determine future of investigation into Richmond mayor's removal of Confederate monuments.  (Sad R..  That removal contract given to one of the mayor's political contributors is highly questionable.  Like they said, something stinks in Sad R..)

**  Richmond's top  prosecutor  declines to investigate Confederate statue removal contract awarded to Stoney donor.  (Sad R., Va.  Stoney is the mayor.  The donor received $1.8 million for the removals and his company was formed just a few days before the contract.  Something's rotten here if you ask me.  Kickbacks, anybody?  Must be nice to have friends in high places.)

**  Preservation of history:  Unwanted  Confederate monuments may soon find a new home.  (Ellenbrook home in Elk Garden, Virginia, will take them.  This was the home of William Alexander Stuart, a brother of Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart.  If I ever return to Virginia, I'll go there instead of Sad R.)

**  Petition wants to replace Confederate statue for Chadwick Boseman.  (Anderson, S.C..  Boseman, who just recently died, was the star of "42" about Jackie Robinson and "The Black Panther" and grew up in Anderson.  I agree that a privately funded statue of him is in order, but not replacing the Confederate statue.  Put it up somewhere else in the city.)

**  Saturday protest held over relocation of Confederate statue with no incidents.  (Weatherford, Texas)

**  Ole Miss football team protests police brutality  in front of Confederate monument.  (They probably did not know that there have been no instances where a Confederate monument attacked an Ole Miss football player.  Head football coach was with them.  Time to find a new head football coach Ole Miss.)

**  I know there are a lot of people who don't like the nickname of the University of Mississippi which is the Rebels.  Maybe they should change it to University of Mississippi Black Lives Matter or BLMers for short.

**  Public can weigh in on Confederate monument.  (Monroe, Union County, North Carolina)

**  New Orleans street honoring Confederate icon renamed for HBCU president.  (Jefferson Davis Parkway will become the the Norman C. Francis Parkway in January.   The city council will also be looking at renaming other streets named after Confederates.)

**  More 'Black Lives Matter'  signs than Confederate flags in the new Stone Mountain, Ga.  (From the Washington Post.  They have to be celebrating this, even though BLM signs mean "We're going to riot and loot at anytime.")

**  Gray calls for probe of mayor's use of $1.8 million to remove Confederate statues.  (Sad Richmond.  Did the mayor's buddy make an illegal profit on this?

**  Mississippi, last state with Confederate  symbol on its flag, has new designs for citizens' vote.  (I still wonder why the people almost always do not get the chance to vote on Confederate statue removal?  Of course, there is now talk of other states with Confederate symbols in their flags.  Go to my RoadDog's RoadLog blog for pictures of states with "Confederate" flags.)

Chicago Mayhem and Black Shootings for This Past Weekend

While the Mayoral:  "I have a right to make  sure that my home is secure"...  Green Zone was safe and secure this weekend.  Other parts of Chicago were less so.

In addition to mostly Black on Black shootings, there were several BLM marches, but at least no looting or burning.  Thanks BLM.

**  Proposed effort  could revive Mississippi's Confederate-themed state flag.  (Oh, No!!  Say It Ain't So!!  Well, actually, the state should have left it up to the voters at a referendum in November.  Same with Confederate statue removals.  Never leave the question up to a spineless group of politicians who are afraid to stand up to Blacks and their BLM strike force.)

**  Fort Myers' Robert E. Lee statue will stay down for now.  (Florida.  Trying to find out who owns it.  This was primarily an effort by the local NAACP riding on the groundswell of George Floyd protest.)

**  Report:  Mayor hired political donor to remove statues.  (Sad Richmond's (Va.) Sad Mayor  agreed to pay $1.8 million to a firm linked to one of his political donors.  The firm, NAH LLC was created ten days before the sad mayor  ordered the statue removal.  Reports have this as a shell company for the contracting firm of Devon Henry who has contributed $4,000 to the sad mayor since 2016.)

**  Carroll County retired Mississippi state flag but won't budge on Confederate flag.  (Carrollton.  Still flies on courthouse grounds.)

Black Lives Matter Strikes Again in Chicago: Riots and Looting, Part 2

Part 1 took place at the end of May.

What did the girl on that movie say, "They're Back!"   Again, media didn't mention BLM in connection to these riots and looting, but it was their baby.

They struck again.  The Loop and parts of Chicago were attacked by a mob of Black Lives Matter rioters intent on looting last night. Didn't they loot and burn enough two months ago?  Was there a new and larger HD TV available, a new I-phone, more fancy jewelry?

Reports say downtown Chicago looks like a war zone again.  At least the media is finally referring to what happened as riots and nor demonstrations.

Hopefully this will awaken people to the knowledge of exactly what kind of organization we have with BLM.  Hey folks! This is what they do!!

Hopefully the mayor has come to the realization that these are not outside agitators hijacking a peaceful protest.  Hopefully the Cook County states attorney won't be letting these guilty people go as she usually does.

Let the police do their job.  Be tough and all those BLM signs need to be taken down.

**  On the Other hand:  Looking for the 'Lost Cause.'

**  Judge starts new injunction barring Lee statue removal.  (This refers to the Lee statue in Sad Richmond on the former Monument Avenue.  I am against this.  After what BLM has done to it with their hate crimes, it is an embarrassment.  It needs to come down sooner, not later.  If you have seen a recent picture of it, you will know what I'm talking about.

I know that certain people are ecstatic when they see their work on the statue.  All it does for me is makes me angrier and dislike those people even more.

Sad Richmond has removed eleven monuments from the former avenue and other sites around the city.  That Sad Mayor is a real piece of work.  A black man by the way.)

**  Gaston Co. commissioners support  relocation of Confederate monument.  (North Carolina.  It will be gifted to the local SCV camp.  The county has set aside $200,000 for its relocation and the SCV has six months  to find a location and move it.  I still say that public money should not be used to move the statue.  The money should come from those who want it moved.)

**  Lee County confederate monument  to remain.  (Tupelo, Mississippi.  For some reason the radio station who had the news didn't know Confederate is a proper name and should be capitalized.  This is sure going to rile BLM.)

Central Camera in Chicago Getting Ready to Reopen After Store Was Looted and Burned By BLM in Chicago Riots on May 30-- Part 1

Owner stood by helpless while watching BLM rioters loot and then set fire to his 121-year-old business.

Owner Don Flesch, whose grandfather started Central Camera in 1899 said he plans to reopen in the former Kramer's Health Foods space by September 1.  This will only be a temporary spot while the former location at 230 S. Wabash Avenue, which was burned after being looted by BLM is rebuilt.  The store had been at this site since 1929.

Said Mr. Flesch:  "We have a lease and we want to stay in our place.  We've been there for 91 years."

Central Camera was one of the many businesses around the city that sustained heavy damage and looting (and some were burned) amid the response to George Floyd's death.  (Nowhere in the article was anything mentioned about BLM, surprisingly.  But since this was BLM's riot, they were the ones responsible.  I know that Chicago's mayor keeps trying to say the looting, burning and rioting was done by outside agitators who "hijacked the peaceful demonstration," but BLM has to take responsibility.)

**  Did Portland's mayor actually stand with rioters on the 55th day of riots in his city and raise his fist and yell "Black Lives Matter."  It's Seattle all over again.  Something must be wrong with the water out in the Pacific Northwest.  Perhaps drinking too many Starbucks.

Not only is he not stopping the riots, he is abetting them.  As the guy once said, "Inconceivable!!"   Another Democrat.  What is wrong with the Democrat mayors across the United States like Seattle, Richmond, Birmingham, etc.?

I understand he got tear gassed like a common rioter.)

**  Asheville, N.C., votes for slavery reparations.  City Council votes 7-0 for it.  Six members are Democrats, two are Blacks and four are women.  Asheville is in  Buncombe County.

Buncombe County named after American Revolution soldier Edward Buncombe  who was also a plantation owner.  The name of the county will have to be changed.  You know.  Plantations mean you-know-what.

And, Asheville was named after Samuel Ashe (1725-1813), 9th governor of the state of North Carolina.  North Carolina had slaves back then.  As such, Asheville will HAVE to change its name.  Oh, yes, by the way, Samuel Ashe was a rich man and he had a PLANTATION.  That means he had you-know-what (the "S" word).

Oh yes, something else about Asheville that you should know.  Not only is the name now offensive to Blacks, but the earliest white settler was killed by Indians and then avenged, so there were bad things done to Indians.  So, now the name must be changed for what they did to the Indians.

Asheville now needs to change its name as well as Buncombe Couty, where Asheville is located.

Plus, they should be working on ways to come up with those reparations for their sin of the "S" word.
