Are these UDC members the white supremacists who put up all those racist monuments BLM has warned us about? How about those Confederate veterans above them? Some mighty desperate and despicable folks if you ask me.

I Will Be Skipping Ahead to Attacks on the Confederacy to October 8th

I am running so far behind on these attacks that I will skip ahead to October 8th and once I get caught up to the current dates, will go back and add in the ones I have skipped.

Why It's Civil War II. School, Pension Tax, That Confederate Monument Ransom, Flags and Fort Sumter

APRIL 14, 2021

**  Atlanta school to drop Confederate general's name and honor Hank Aaron.  (Nathan Bedford Forrest)

**  A new use for Confederate pension tax.  (Alabama)

**  In Confederate monument ransom plot, New Orleans police arrest  third suspect.

**  Mayor's anti-hate  policy would impact the Confederate  flag in Richmond.  (Big surprise this happening in Sad R.  The Confederate flag banned on city property.  However he did not say anything about the equally racist BLM material.)

**  After publicly dumping  its Confederate flag, Mississippi accused of quietly  continuing 'Confederate Heritage Month."

** New legislation aims to replace Confederate Flag Day with Arkansas Day.

**  160 years later, US still fighting  over Civil War.  (Fort Sumter was fired upon April 12, 1861 and surrendered the next day.  No kidding about the war still being fought.  That is why I call this blog Civil War II.  There was a World War I and a World War II, just as there now is with the Civil War.)

Civil War II: Are We in the Midst of a Civil War? Even in Michigan, Protests Erupt in Violence in Texas, West Point

JULY 27, 2020

**  Protesters push for Confederate statue removal.  (Allendale Township, Michigan.)

**  Competing rallies meet in downtown St. Augustine over removal of Confederate monument.  (Florida)

**  Judge says Confederate monument will be removed after protest groups clash in Weatherford.  (Texas.  There was definitely the possibility of violence there.)

**  The history behind Confederate monuments in America.   (Channel 5 NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.  A very fair assessment of the history.  Not one-sided at all.  When I saw it was going to be a UNC-Greensboro professor talking about it, I wasn't sure, but he was fair.  Well worth watching.)

**  Violence breaks out between pro & anti Confederate demonstrators  Weatherford.  (Texas.  Several videos accompanied the article. Watch them.  There were idiots on both sides, but tempers are flaring on both sides, not just in Weatherford, but all over.)

**  Bill would require  renaming West Point dorm, roads, gate named for Confederate generals.  (Too bad.  These names were okay for so long, but now with BLM, not okay.)

**  Rick Roberts:  "These people  are trying to take your country away from you."  (WBAP AM News Talk.  Conservative view  point but says  the country is in the midst of a civil war and it is heating up.  Blames the Democrats and BLM.  Worth a listen.)

It Has to Stop.  Step 1:   Confederate Statues on Public Property Must Be Removed and in a Dignified Way (and No Protesters Partying  Over It.  Step 2:  The Deglorification of BLM and Revealing What It Really Is.  Maybe Rename Them the Brown Shirts.

This way, both sides get something.

Second Civil War: The Groundswell Continues

These are headlines from U.S. media.

June 3, 2020

**  The history behind Birmingham monuments  damaged during the George Floyd protest.

**  Confederate monument in Alabama partially removed.

**  Confederate monument removed in Florida as US anti-racism protests continue.

**  Monuments across the United States re-emerged as targets of rage over weekend of widespread protest.  (Photo of a man who taped himself to Confederate statue in Colorado.)

**  Admiral Raphael Semmes  statue in downtown Mobile vandalized overnight.

***********************************

June 4, 2020

**  George Floyd protests  renew calls to scrap Confederate emblem from Mississippi flag.

**  Protesters have been really successful at getting statues with racist history removed.

**  Cities remove racist monuments  before protesters can topple them.   (Wouldn't "protesters" toppling statues be a hate crime?)

**  Protesters damage businesses, monument in downtown Birmingham.  (Well, Birmingham.  What else can I say.  Is it still a protest when they break into a business and loot it?)

***********************************

June 5, 2020

**  Birmingham mayor  slapped with state lawsuit after tearing down Confederate monument.  (Finally, some good news.)

**  Top military  leaders speak out about racism  in wake of George Floyd's  death in police custody.

Help, I Can't Keep Up

Bring back those good old days in April, in the early stages of the coronavirus, when all these incessant attacks on all things Confederate by the new Tyranny of the Blacks took a vacation.

I only had to write four blog entries that month about this mess.

Now, I find it impossible to keep up with the affronts that you see everywhere.  I have to wonder if there is one single Confederate statue anywhere which hasn't had a hate crime committed against it.

If the attacks would stop, this blog would also stop.

But, I don't think it will last much longer because I am fairly sure that by the end of this year, maybe before, every single Confederate statue, memorial, name, flag and everything else will be gone as we have an updated version of November 9-10. 1938.

That's the Night of the Broken Glass which the Nazis used on the Jews for those of you unaware of history.  Who is a Nazi now?

The Floyd Tragedy Has Caused Open Season on Confederate Memorials

That much enjoyed respite that we had when the Confederate-haters took a break during the coronavirus pandemic has come to an end.  Part of this is due to the relaxing of the restrictions that were emplaced for it, but the biggest thing has been the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.

So many Confederate monuments had hate crimes committed against them (and not vandalism as the media likes to call it) and then we had the situation in Birmingham, Alabama with that city's mayor who needs to be arrested and then the college professor who sent out directions on how to topple obelisks to rioters.

What is wrong with that city?

Too bad, I was enjoying not having to do this blog, but looks like that time is over.

We See What They're All About Now

This past weekend proved beyond a doubt what these Confederate haters are all about.  Do they know that they have all but guaranteed the re-election of their anathema to the U.S. presidency?

They are just as bad as the white supremacists, American Nazis and KKK.  And, supposedly they are against those groups.

SPLC Shows Its Racist Tendencies Over Statue Removal-- Part 1

From the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) May 2, 2020, post "Weekend Read:  Even as Southern states continue honoring Confederate holidays, monuments are being removed" by Brad Bennett.

This group is right up there with the NAACP in its tendency to be hateful of any and all things Confederate.  In other words, reverse racism?

They are upset that some Southern states continue to honor their Confederate heritage but the recent signing of the bill in Virginia to remove "White Supremacy" monuments and they are extremely happy about this.  The overall plan is to remove any and all things Confederate.

Those statues and monuments have never mean racism to me nor does it to many whose ancestors fought for the Confederacy.  By the SPLC's definition, I must be a white supremacist and I sure was unaware of that.

The organization has spent a lot of time and money compiling an exhaustive list of all things Confederate and they want them all gone.

I Will Be Taking a Break from This Blog for Awhile

Because of the Virus and the marked decrease in attacks of the Confederacy, I will do something I have been thinking about the last several days, and that is to stop this blog for awhile.

That is, until the haters ramp up their attacks again.

And, it sure would be nice if they just stop the attacks after the virus pandemic is gone.  If they do, this blog will cease.

Come on guys, I could sure use the break of not having to do this blog.

They're Back: The Second Civil War Continues

A couple weeks ago, I noticed there was just one alert for Confederate in my e-mail.  That was great.  Maybe, these continued attack on all-things Confederate were becoming to an end.

And, then, I went several days with no alerts at all.

I kind of doubted that the attacks had stopped, but couldn't help but hope they had.  It would give me nothing but pleasure to end this blog.  "The war is over, man, Wormer dropped the big one."  I don't have enough time to do my other seven blogs.  One less would be wonderful.

It was either that, or perhaps someone doesn't want me to be writing about all the attacks as many people rarely hear anything about it.

But as long as the Civil War II or Second Civil War continues, I have to continue this blog.

Oh, Well.  I Was Kind Of Hoping This Would Be Over.  --Old Secesh

Actually Just One Headline in Confederate Google Alert Today

And, I wrote about it yesterday:

**  Trump tweet, political divisions fuel rising discourse about new US Civil War.

This is about the possibility of a new Civil War breaking out.

It has not been just one headline since before the murders in Charleston, S.C..

Of courser,if this is what it is going to be in the future, with one or no headlines about these attacks that might mean this Civil War is over.

Here's Hoping It's Over.  --Old Secesh

(Not CW II) and Skipped Days

Just a word about when you see (Not CW II) behind a headline on the list, as in the case of yesterday.  This means the article does not deal with the current Civil War where groups are seeking to wipe out Confederate heritage.  These are the articles I wish my whole Google Alerts for Confederate would be about.

This is the history of the First American Civil War.

Also, I will not be doing a days's lists of Google Alerts for Confederate, but that doesn't mean there were not any.  generally, I get at least eight and more a day.  Before yesterday's post from October 29, I had skipped Oct. 27 and 28.

The main purpose of this blog is to show that these attacks continue even if your local media isn't covering it.  Plus, these are not just from the Southern States, but North and West as well.

Confederate Battle Flag Has Divisive History-- Part 2: The Three National Flags

Continued from October 11, 2019.  Just click on the Flag's Divisive History label to see other posts.

"The banner has become more popular than the Confederacy's first official flag, the Stars and Bars, which resembled the United States' Stars and Stripes, but with three wide red and white stripes and with a blue square union with seven white stars.

"In 1863, the battle flag was officially recognized by the Confederate Congress, turning it into a political symbol, as it has been ever since."

At that time, it was incorporated into a larger white banner as a square in the upper left hand corner as the Confederacy's second national banner.  Then, a red bar was added at the opposite end of the banner so that  the flag would not be seen as a surrender flag when hanging limp.

"But, John Coski, a historian at the American Civil War Museum, who documented the banner's divisive history in his 2005 book, 'The Confederate Battle Flag:  America's Most Embattled Emblem,' warns against simplifying what it stands for."

The Confederacy Under Attack, Oct. 18, 2019-- Part 2: Adding Historic Markers By Confederate Statues

**  Historic markers unveiled near Confederate statue in downtown Franklin.

To me, this is an acceptable compromise in the removal of status question.

**  'Never to return':  Greenspace wants Confederate statues out of Shelby County.

**  Author dismisses concept of Black Confederate soldiers.

**  Two hot topics:  a ruling regarding Confederate statues in Memphis and residency requirements.

**  Franklin's new historical markers reflect African Americans in city's Civil War legacy.

Heritage Attacks Continue, Oct. 15-- Part 2: About the Confederate Capitals

**  Man behind I-20 Confederate flags says he'll run for senate.

**  Opinion:  Nathan Bedford Forrest, it's time for Tennessee to stop celebrating you.

**  An honest interpretation of John Castleman  could help us reconcile our slavery, Civil War.

**  All three capitals of the Confederacy now have black mayors.  Okay, I knew  Montgomery and Richmond.  But what was the third Confederate capital?

The third one was Danville, Virginia, which was the capital for a very short time after the Confederate government fled from Richmond.   Interesting.

**  Book Review:  "Life in Jefferson Davis' Navy."  Review of a new book on the Confederate Navy.  Anything Navy is my primary interest in the First Civil War.  Real Civil War history.

**  Letter:  Keep Confederate  monument where it is.

**  Lt. Governor Rutherford:  Confederate plaque part of Maryland's 'complex' history.

**  John Schneider including 'Dukes of Hazzard' Confederate flag controversy in new movie.  For those of you who don't know, there are those who want the flag on the roof of their car removed.

The Confederacy Under Attack, October 14, 2019: And Don't Forget The Indian Confederacy

Oct. 14, 2019, Google Alerts for Confederate.

**  Indigenous history:  The Iroquois Confederacy.    I wonder if they will come under attack because of the "C" word.

**  7 Rebels' gravesites designated cemetery.    Real Civil War history.

**  Civil War historian to speak at Thomas Entrepreneural Hub.

**  Ford dealership in South Carolina goes full Confederate.

**  Glenn Boyce's Ole Miss:  An inside look at the new chancellor's involvement....

Confederate Battle Flag Has Divisive History-- Part 1

And, there was a time back in the 70s and 80s when I flew a Confederate and U.S. flag from the top of my garage and thought nothing of it and NEVER had anyone complain about it.  I also had a Confederate flag belt buckle that I wore to school every day and a SCV sticker, prominently featuring a Confederate battle flag (the proper battle flag with square dimensions instead of rectangular which was the Confederate Navy flag (or jack). on my truck cap.

Sure couldn't do that any more.

From the October 28, 2018, Chicago Tribune  "Confederate battle flag has divisive history, expert says" by Frances Stead Sellers, Washington Post.

"The distinctive configuration of white stars mounted on a blue 'X' and set against a field of red is now widely known as the Confederate flag.  But it was originally the battle flag of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia."

The Confederacy Under Attack, Sept. 25, 2019: Some More On That Cop

**  Confederate Railroad headlines Hokes Bluff City Fest.    For those of you who don't know, Confederate Railroad is a popular country band who was booked to play at the Illinois State Fair in August but our governor had them banned because of the name.

**  Upcoming October programs at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.  Okay, some more REAL Civil War stuff.

**  Cop fired over KKK, Confederate memorabilia:  "I'm just a Dukes of Hazzard fan boy."  You definitely shouldn't get fired for Confederate memorabilia.  KKK stuff is another category, though.

**  West Newbury selectmen aim for parade guidelines by January.  This involves Confederate flags in their Memorial Day parade for 2020.

What Is This Civil War II?

We had a World War I and then a World War II.  We also had a Civil War (1861-1865) which was the only Civil War until essentially those murders in Charleston, S.C. on June 17, 2015.  This is the date I consider the start of Civil War II, though it had been going on for years before that, especially with the beginning of the Civil War Sesquicentennial in 2011.

June 17, 2015 was essentially April 12, 1861, with the firing on Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor.  It started the First Civil War.

I was writing about this continuing War on the Confederacy, or Civil War II as I call it, in my Saw the Elephant: Civil War blog, the last several months with three straight days worth of what my Google Alerts said.  It gives you the continuity and severity of those attacks.  Again, just because you don't continually read about these in your local newspaper, doesn't mean they aren't happening.

However, now that I have this new blog, I can write about Civil War II right here and keep Saw the Elephant to the First Civil War.
