**  Lawyers square off over Confederate monument.  

**  Confederate statue to be moved in Charlottesville.  (Virginia)

**  County Confederate soldier statue to be relocated  to Shenandoah Valley battlefield.   (Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia.  Will be given to the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation to place on one of their battlefields.

This is a good alternative.  But, public money will be used to pay for expenses.  I think those people who want it gone should pay for it being gone.  Put your money where your mouth is.)

** Fate of Confederate statue in front of Nelson Co.  courthouse remains undecided.  (Virginia)

**  Virginia House of Delegates votes to make it easier for cities to take down Confederate statues.  (Democrats again.  That is one reason I'll not be voting for any this year.  Also, there are two speakers we need to get out of office who happen to be Democrat.  One in D.C. and one here in Illinois.  I voted for Hillary Clinton in the last election and Obama the election before that.)

**  Asheville's shrouded Confederate monument, unveiled by wind, won't be recovered because of cost; city.  (North Carolina.  The Vance monument.  But city says they will soon have it gone.  Good old Asheville, the Virginia Wanna Be North Carolina city.)

**  Flying high:  American flags replace Confederate flags on I-40.  (North Carolina.  Big Confederate flags at either end of the county have been replaced by U.S. and Christian flags.)

The State of Confederate Statues in North Carolina-- Part 2

Here is a list of removed Confederate statues in North Carolina, compliments of the Southern Poverty Law Center:

**  ANSON COUNTY (1):  Statue stood in front of the Wadesboro Courthouse.  Removed July 8 and expected to go to private property.

**  ASHEVILLE AND BUNCOMBE COUNTY  (2):  Removed two statues, the second one on July  24.  They are looking to remove a third statue.  These two places will also have to change their names because they are named after slave owners.

**  CHARLOTTE 1:   A Confederate reunion marker came down after a June 21 order for removal near  Grady Cole Center.

**  DURHAM (1):  The base was carted away August 14, three years after "protesters" toppled the statue after Charlottesville.

**  FAYETTEVILLE (1):  A statue started to be removed June  27.  It reportedly had private owners and would go into storage.

**  LOUISBURG  (1):  June 30, the town started to dismantle a Confederate statue to be placed in a cemetery.

**  Marching home:  Confederate monument foe works with Stuart descendant to send statue to general's birthplace.  (Sad Richmond, Va.  Sad Richmond City Councilman Michael Jones, a black minister, is throwing his support to James E. B. Stuart of Richmond, the general's great-great grandson, in his attempt to move it to Patrick Co., Va.

The statue is covered in red paint and at one time even had a noose placed around its neck.  I thought BLMers didn't like nooses.  Oh well.  Here's hoping the statue gets moved to Patrick County.  Here's hoping that BLM doesn't go after it there.)

**  Despite Confederate monument  removals, debate over  effigies in Georgia still red-hot.   (Of the original 211 monuments in the state,  a dozen have been removed.  Contains a map showing where statues still stand and where they have been removed.  The article starts with the words "Georgia has exorcised some of its ghosts in recent years...."  How do you think the writer stands?)

**  Asheville Confederate Vance monument to be 'replaced' by George Floyd hologram:  task force.  Will be shown on the shrouded Vance monument.   (Asheville, N.C.    Sure hope they are not trying to make a hero out of him.  What happened was a travesty to justice, but he was in no way an honorable or good man.  But, considering the city, this doesn't surprise me.  I'm wondering if they have started plans to rename the city and county since they were both named after plantation owners and you know they had the "S" word.)

**  Michigan  inn removes  Norwegian flag  as residents falsely believe  it's the Confederate flag: report.  (I still get a good chuckle out of this one.  Duh!!!)

**  VMI will not remove Confederate statues or rename buildings.  (Finally, a college with a backbone that is not bowing to its militant and revisionist professors.  Good for you, VMI.  Maybe there is some hope for Virginia.)

**  Portsmouth City Council unanimously votes in favor of relocating Confederate  monument.  (Virginia, sad Virginia.  I saw a picture of the monument.  BLM must be really proud of their work.)

** Gaston has plenty to say about Confederate monument.  (North Carolina.  County commissioners want to put it to a referendum, something BLMers don't want.  The relocation of any monument should be put to public vote.)

**  Lawmaker criticized for honoring Confederate, KKK figure.  (Alabama.  State Representative Will Dismukes Republican.  On his Facebook page attended and spoke at a Nathan Bedford Forrest birthday observance.  I kind of figured that with the headline that this would be about Forrest.  Democrats, of course, mortified.  Even Republicans on his case.  It was okay to honor Forrest for over a hundred years, but not now?)

**  Newly elected Texas GOP  Chairman Allen West  stands up for monuments, opposes mask  mandates.  (And, he was a former Army officer and U.S. Representative.  And, he is a black man who describes himself as a super conservative.  I don't know about his stance on masks, but he is a breath of fresh air in the political arena, along with Will Dismukes.  So great to find politicians who are not dupes of BLM.)

**  Activists demand stop to Confederate displays at Charleston battery, criticize enforcement.  (South Carolina.  But they think their BLM displays aren't offensive.  Really?)

**  Confederate section of cemetery damaged.    (Oakland Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Spray painted "Black Lives Matter" and "F*** Trump" on obelisk marking the site where 900 unknown Confederates are buried.)

**  Opinion:  I'm an archaeologist.  I don't worry removing monuments  will erase history.  (Never though I'd hear an archaeologist say something like this.)

**  Vance monument in downtown Asheville shrouded.  (North Carolina.  Asheville the new Richmond, Va.  The new "Sad" town in North Carolina.  I am wondering when they will be changing the city name and county name because they were named after plantation owners.  You know, the "S" Word.)

**  Did Portland's mayor actually stand with rioters on the 55th day of riots in his city and raise his fist and yell "Black Lives Matter."  It's Seattle all over again.  Something must be wrong with the water out in the Pacific Northwest.  Perhaps drinking too many Starbucks.

Not only is he not stopping the riots, he is abetting them.  As the guy once said, "Inconceivable!!"   Another Democrat.  What is wrong with the Democrat mayors across the United States like Seattle, Richmond, Birmingham, etc.?

I understand he got tear gassed like a common rioter.)

**  Asheville, N.C., votes for slavery reparations.  City Council votes 7-0 for it.  Six members are Democrats, two are Blacks and four are women.  Asheville is in  Buncombe County.

Buncombe County named after American Revolution soldier Edward Buncombe  who was also a plantation owner.  The name of the county will have to be changed.  You know.  Plantations mean you-know-what.

And, Asheville was named after Samuel Ashe (1725-1813), 9th governor of the state of North Carolina.  North Carolina had slaves back then.  As such, Asheville will HAVE to change its name.  Oh, yes, by the way, Samuel Ashe was a rich man and he had a PLANTATION.  That means he had you-know-what (the "S" word).

Oh yes, something else about Asheville that you should know.  Not only is the name now offensive to Blacks, but the earliest white settler was killed by Indians and then avenged, so there were bad things done to Indians.  So, now the name must be changed for what they did to the Indians.

Asheville now needs to change its name as well as Buncombe Couty, where Asheville is located.

Plus, they should be working on ways to come up with those reparations for their sin of the "S" word.

**  (Seriously, I heard that Asheville, N.C., has agreed to pay reparations to Blacks for slavery.  I'd recommend $5,000,000 to every black person, guys and gals. That'd about cover their pain and agony.)

**  Navy says 'absolutely' no chance new warship will be named after  former Confederate Navy  officer.  (USS Brooke and a new class of frigates.  However, there was already a USS Brooke named for that officer which operated from 1966 to 1988.  It was the lead ship of the class.  John Mercer Brook was a U.S. Navy officer who joined the Confederacy.)

**  Confederate names  don't belong on Montgomery's Black schools, social justice group says.  (Alabama.  I agree with them.  If the majority of a school's students are Blacks, the name should come off immediately.  However, the cost of name change should be borne by those who want it changed.  No public money should be spent.

I also noticed it was Black schools in the headline.  Is this a new way Blacks want to be referred to?  I always thought that Black, when used as an adjective, was not capitalized.  You know, black people, white people.)

**  Yes, take down the Confederate statues.  But the founders are different.  (Washington Post.  Well, at least they are putting the Founders in a different category.)

**  The most 2020 protest just happened in Fort Mill.   But what will the town do?  (South Carolina.  It was done by a virtual meeting.  Letters were written and read by city council.  It was not violent.  Sorry BLM.)

**  Confederate monument removed from Buncombe County Courthouse.  (Asheville, N.C.    Figures, Asheville is the Sad Richmond/Charlottesville of North Carolina.)

**  Trump asked  why Black people  have been killed by police:  'So are white people'.  (Well, true.  Of course, the real big reason why some Blacks are injured or killed by the police is that they break the law and then resist arrest on the rare occasion they are caught.  Their chances of a bad outcome in this situation drop greatly when they cooperate.  In other words, cooperate with the police if they stop you.  Try to out-polite them if you can. Watch Chris Rock's "Eight Ways Not To Get Your Ass Kicked By the Police" video.  If you follow his advice, you probably will not have a bad problem.)

**  Anthropologist hates Confederate statues but isn't eager to dump them.  They can teach a meaningful lesson.
