MAY 22, 2021

**  Final remnants of Confederate monuments in Richmond could be gone this summer.  (Sad R.  Again, they can't be gone fast enough for me.  I wish they were already completely gone and then the rewriting of history books could begin and erase the name Sad R. from Civil War history.  It just didn't happen.  And someone please hurry up an take that Lee statue down.  What the city and its BLMers have done is a complete disgrace to them.  Price tag for removals so far stands at $232,000.)

Why Not Rename Fort Bragg After the Union General Bragg, Not the Confederate One? A Surprise Vote on School Names in Jacksonville

MAY 20, 2021

**  King George Confederate monument will be discussed in June.  (Virginia)

**  Wisconsin senator proposes renaming  Fort Bragg after  Union cousin of Confederate general.  (A state senator wants it named after Braxton Bragg's  cousin, Union General  Edward Stuyvesant  Bragg of Wisconsin.  Good idea.  That way they wouldn't have to go through all that expense of changing the name.  I had never heard of this Union general and will have to do some more research.)

**  Duval  County school stakeholders vote to rename  5 schools named for Confederate leaders.  (Jacksonville, Florida.  I bet everyone of them will be named after black folks.  Well, that was my thought at first, but looking at the new names, they definitely aren't:

Stonewall Jackson Elementary to  Westside Academy

Jefferson Davis Middle School to Westside Middle School

J.E.B. Middle School to  Westside Middle School (However these last two are the same name.)

Robert E. Lee High School to Riverside High School

**  What's in a name?  (In June, Washington & Lee University in Virginia will announce whether they will change their name.  In other words, drop the Lee.  Lee was a big reason the school survived after the war.  He is buried on the campus.  They could change its name to Woke University or Cancel Culture University.  So sad.   But, hey, it's Virginia.  What else could you expect from that state?  Of course, something will have to be done about that horrible Washington guy because, you know, he owned you-know-whats.)

What to Do With Stone Mountain. Confederate Memorial Day and Jacksonville

APRIL 27, 2021

**  Georgia park with giant Confederate  carving proposes changes.  (Stone Mountain, Georgia.   These are some of the proposals:  Publicly acknowledge that the park was a KKK gathering place, relocate Confederate flags and remove the carving from the logo.  These are acceptable to me.  Of course, BLM, SPLC and other groups want the carvings destroyed altogether.  I would absolutely oppose destroying the carvings.)

**  Confederate Memorial Day remains legal holiday in Florida, other Southern states.  (I imagine this might gall some folks.)

**  What's happening to Jacksonville's Confederate  monuments?  Group finalizes proposals.  (Florida.  They are still standing, but the white mayor says they have to go.)

**  Bid to end Arkansas' Confederate Flag Day fails before panel.

**  Committee recommends  city repurpose Jacksonville Confederate monuments rather than remove.  (Florida)

**  Gov. Reeves  said he wanted t promote unity.  Then he declared Confederate Memorial Day.  (Mississippi)
