Why I Do This Blog. Those Charlottesville Statues Again, Texas, Sad R's Mayor

A big reason I do this blog is because you rarely hear about these things going on.  I just want people to know that just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean it is over.  And, if these attacks on any and all things Confederate ever end, so too will this blog.  I already have too many to do and would be very happy to drop this one.

Most of the Confederate-named bases received the names before World War II.  That was an awful long-time for people not to be offended.  Was it a sudden-woke offense?

**  VMI to relocate Confederate statue.  (Lexington, Virginia Military Institute.  A very sad day when this venerable institution no longer wants to be connected to a man who essentially is VMI, Stonewall Jackson.)

**  Marshall County to spend $3,000 to protect Confederate monument, flag.  (Albertville, Alabama  This money should come from BLM, even though the fences are going up because of BLM activity.)

**  Alabama County plans fence  to protect Confederate monument.  (Albertville, Alabama.)

**  General election results for moving Confederate symbols in Franklin and Halifax counties on Nov. 3, 2020.  (North Carolina.  It will certainly be interesting to see how voting of statue removals shows tomorrow.  My thought is that most of the votes will go toward keeping the monuments, but, we will see.)

**  At VMI, black cadets endure lynching  threats, Klan  memories and Confederate veneration.  (Virginia Military Institute.  If this is true, the offenders should be kicked out of school.  There is no room for that behavior at any school, especially a military one.

**  The battle fought at Gettysburg is far from over.

SEPTEMBER 21, 2020

**  These Confederate statues were removed.  But where did they go?  (NBC News.  Since the death of George Floyd, 130 Confederate statues and tributes to divisive persons have come down, not all Confederate.

In only 365 cases have the statues been transported to new homes or were awaiting new homes or owners.  Three of them, an early 1900s Nashville politician and two in Madison, Wisconsin, who have been determined not to be white supremacists,  will be repaired and returned to their spots.

**  VCU students weigh in on plan to remove Confederate names, symbols.

**  University in former Confederate capital will remove all Confederate names, symbols from campus.  (That would be Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).  Was there a former Confederate capital at that spot?  If there ever was, it is surely gone now.)

**  Protesters in Ridgefield, Vancouver,  rally in support of black lives.  (Canada.  Jefferson Davis Park has two markers for the Jefferson Davis Highway.  For Black Lives Matter and in honor of Dr. King's "I Have A Dream" speech.

**  Confederate statues would be removed from national parks in Gettysburg, elsewhere under Minn.  lawmaker's bill.  (U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum, D. Minnesota.  Imagine a Democrat doing something like this?)

**  Virginia Supreme Court gives Richmond green light  to remove city-owned  Confederate statues.  (There you go, Sad R.  Get that Lee statue down immediately.  You should be embarrassed at what you let BLM do to it.  Shows your class.  Since Sad Richmond is so gung-ho to remove all connection it has to the Confederacy, I am already crossing out the name of that city in all my books.

Last night, I was reading a book about the bread riots that took place in that city and just substituted the word "Sad" whenever the "R" word came up.  I doubt that I will ever go there again.)

**  Laura topples Confederate statue  after parish votes to keep it.  ((Lake Charles, Louisiana.  BLM extremely mad that they didn't get to do it.  But even Mother Nature seems to be against us.  A lot of Confederate markers in Wilmington, N.C. have recently been knocked down by hurricanes.)

**  By the way, congratulations to Wilmington, N.C., for becoming the country's first World War II Heritage City.

**  People hurl racist epithets at protesters outside Confederate  memorial in Clark County.  (Washington. The protesters here are BLMers and their white minions.   I see that BLM got a taste of language much like they give everyone else.  They didn't appreciate it.  Sorry guys.  At least none of their homes or businesses were looted and torched.  Sad to see defenders sinking to BLM level.)

**  Report:  59 Confederate  symbols removed since George Floyd's death.  (An updated report from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) who has a very complete list of all Confederate items that need to be removed, a "hit list" as it were.  However, I see that they have not yet compiled a list of demonstrations that have taken place since George Floyd's murder.  In addition, they need to show the ones that ended up in riots, looting and burnings and I would also like to see losses in stores.  Come on SPLC, you can do it!)

**  Also, 16 schools and parks have been renamed.  Mississippi retired its state flag and a town in South Dakota removed the Confederate flag from its police shield.

**  New panels will share how and why Gettysburg's Confederate monuments were erected.  Always interesting story as to how any monuments get erected.  Good idea as long as they don't start citing people's opinions and stick to the facts.)

**  VERIFY:  Yes, Maryland's state flag has a Confederate symbol.  (Marylanders who fought for the Confederacy used the Crossland Banner.  Now, this flag has to go.)

**  Letter:  Confederate flag is a symbol of hate.  (I'm beginning to think BLM flags and banners are also symbols of hate.)

**  NAN Georgia leads peaceful rally  for the removal of Confederate statue.  (Augusta)

**  Decades ago, a press association dedicated a plaque to a Civil War-era journalist who supported slavery.  Now it wants it removed.  (Plaque at Fortress Monroe for John Mitchell, Irish freedom fighter.)

**  Figard:  Don't forget the actual Confederate heritage.  (slavery)

**  Opinion:  US House voted to remove rebel monuments from Gettysburg.  The Senate must stop this.  (Passed House July 24 by a 224-189 vote.  has a provision to have all Confederate "commemorative works"--  every monument, statue and possibly all informational  brigade and regiment markers, removed not just at Gettysburg, but all National Parks in the U.S.  This is why Democrats must be stopped.)

**  It's Time for us to change  the course of history.  (About a Confederate monument in Galveston, Texas.)

**   Williamson County may form committee to discuss removal of Confederate statues.  (Texas)

**  St. Augustine passes motion to move Confederate monument.  (Florida)

**  Construction crews removing the base of Confederate monument in front of courthouse.  (Durham, N.C.  The statue was toppled by BLMers and their white minions in August 2017 after the Charlottesville, Va. confrontation.  What was left was removed for public safety.)

**  Virginia judge grants new  injunction against removal of Confederate statue.  (The Lee statue in Sad Richmond will remain up for at least another 90 days.  This should be a great embarrassment to the city the way it allowed it to be desecrated.  I wish it was down now.  It hurts to see it standing there covered with all that obscenity and all those BLM hate crimes.  You know that in most U.S. places, if you even "vandalize" a public monument, you'd get arrested.  However, it seems to be okay to do that in Sad Richmond.)

**  Officials delay decision on Kentucky Confederate statue.   (Daviess County.  A statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis was removed from the Capitol grounds on June 13.)

**  Gettysburg, Penn. weighs in  on Gettysburg, SD's reckoning  with confederate symbols.  (Confederate  A George Floyd relative wants Confederate flag taken off the South Dakota town's insignia.  Remember, all it takes is one black person to get things started.)

**  Confederate battle flag would be banned  at all DOD  sites under House plan.

**  After Confederate flag incident, Craftsbury residents look to officials to act.  (Vermont.  A BLM protest was going on and three people in a truck came by with a Confederate and a Don't Tread on Me flag.  It was their protest.  So, one side can have a protest, but the other can't.

Also, a BLM mural on a road was vandalized.  I'm surprised this wasn't classified as a hate crime.)
