Are these UDC members the white supremacists who put up all those racist monuments BLM has warned us about? How about those Confederate veterans above them? Some mighty desperate and despicable folks if you ask me.

States with Most Confederate Memorials

DECEMBER 20, 2022

**  States with most Confederate memorials.  (73 Confederate monuments were removed or renamed in 2021.  There are still 723 of them left.   This has to really upset SPLC and the Washington Post.))

**  West Point commences remediation efforts.  (There are 13 Confederate assets and memorabilia that need to be removed.  Personally, I would like to see the Confederate Armstron cannon captured at Fort Fisher and on display at the Point's Trophy Point returned to the fort.  I could definitely live with that.  Hey, after all it is CONFEDERATE!!)

**  West Point to remove monuments to Confederate alumni.

The USS Confederacy, Georgia Colleges, Black Confederates? No Confederate Flags in Christmas Parade

NOVEMBER 22, 2021

**  Historically Speaking:  Norwich's U.S. Navy frigate, the USS Confederacy.  (Imagine a ship with this name in the U.S. Navy, but it really was. Hopefully we won't have to go back into the past and change the name because it offends certain people.)

**  Georgia regents:  No college name  changes over racial history.  (A list of 75 names of buildings named after people involved with slavery, segregation or mistreatment of Indians.)

NOVEMBER 23, 2021

**  Heritage group honors Black men it says were Confederate veterans.  (Alabama.  48th Alabama Re-enactment group. Even though some historians say black Confederates were just a myth.)

**  Confederate flag banned from flying in Mechanicsville Christmas parade.  (Virginia.  As long as anything BLM is also banned.)

**  Confederate monuments to stay in place in Bastrop until relocation plan finalized.  (Texas)

**  Next step for Confederate names task force.  (Virginia.  You know, removing the names and renaming them for Blacks.)

Lynching Memorial Okayed for Mississippi Town. No More SCV Vanity Plates in NC. North Carolina, South Carolina, Hate Crime and Confederate Flag

FEBRUARY 2, 2021

**  Lynching memorial approved for Lafayette County Courthouse.  (Oxford, Mississippi.  Seven black lynchings occurred in the the county, (three at the square or near it).  I am all in favor of any historical monument, even one showing the sad side of human nature.  The Confederate monument in the square still stands so it is okay with me as long as this is paid for by private citizens, not the town.)

**  North Carolina stops issuing Confederate license plates.  (These are Sons of Confederate Veterans plates. As long as they take a look at others that some might find offensive.  Hopefully there are no BLM license plates.  I see there are quite a few black fraternity and sorority plates, but since they advance education they are okay.)

**  Pasquotank to talk  future of Confederate monument in Monday meeting.  (North Carolina)

**  Police:  Charleston Battery  Confederate monument vandalized.  (South Carolina.  The Confederate Defenders monument.  BLM written on it.  This is not vandalism.  This is a hate crime.)

**  Pitt County commissioners vote to move Confederate statue that was removed last year from courthouse.  (Greenville, North Carolina.  It will be moved to private property.  The movement should be paid for by those wanting it gone.  No public funds should be used.)

**  Sons of Southern Cross sue Van Buren mayor over Confederate flag at Christmas parade.  (Arkansas.  They can't have the flag in parade.)

What's In a Name. Was It a Riot or Demonstration? Only Her Hairdresser Knows for Sure.

JANUARY 16, 2021

**  How the Civil War got its name.    (From the Jan. 15, 2021, JStor Daily.  What happened on January 6 at the U.S. Capitol has been called a riot or insurrection.  What BLM did last summer is called peaceful demonstrations or, at worst, civil unrest.  All could be considered demonstrations.  Hopefully the media will come up with a common terminology for events such as we witnessed Jan. 6 and last summer and apply it equally to both sides.

Well, there has also been huge differences in what the conflict we today call the Civil War has been called.  This is and that applied to both at the time it was fought and up to today.  A very interesting article.)

**  Panel to consider Fort Polk name change.

**  Lawsuit  filed against city of Van Buren, mayor, for barring Confederate flag from Christmas parade.  (Arkansas)

**  A year of racial reckoning, black lawmakers believe they can finally  eliminate Confederate Heroes Day in Texas.

Tennessee Governor, Wake Forest Christmas Parade, "Removing Monuments Will Not Lessen Racial Divide"

March 13, 2020

**  House OKs letting Tennessee governor not sign Confederate general day.  (Governor Bill Lee won't have to sign bill honoring Nathan Bedford Forrest.)

**  Letter to the Editor:  New event spreading fear, not cheer.  (SCV commander writing about their exclusion from the Wake Forest Christmas parade.  Not sure who came up with the headline which was confusing.)

**  Removing monuments will not lessen racial divide.   (Staunton, Va. Opinion page.    This person is very right.  If anything, it is making it worse.)

**  Confederate statues gone for good.

"I Feel So Bad for the Children" and Guilty Folks at UNC

December 7, 2019

**  Media piles on Nikki Haley  after misinterpreted Confederate flag remarks go viral.

**  University of Mississippi approves plan to relocate Confederate monument.

**  UNC faculty votes to condemn Silent Sam settlement giving$2.5 million to Confederate heritage group.  No surprise here.  They encouraged and supported students to commit the hate crime destroying the statue.

**  State officials may move Old Miss Confederate monument, but won't scrap it.

**  UNC students march, protest Confederate monument settlement.  They have only themselves to blame.  They tore the statue down.  I have to wonder why they haven't been expelled for criminal activity.

December 5, 2019

**  Wake Forest cancels Christmas parade after threat of anti-Confederate threats.  (North Carolina)  Isn't this the saddest news for a Christmas parade?

About Those Christmas Parades in North Carolina

In the past several days, one parade was canceled and one received the go-light.  Both North Carolina towns are near Raleigh, the state capital.

Garner canceled theirs, but Wake Forest will still have their annual parade.

The Wake Forest parade (Wake Forest Univ. was originally located here before it moved to Winston-Salem) has included the Sons of Confederate Veterans for decades.  The parade will go on as planned.

The City of Garner, however, canceled their parade, which has had Confederate re-enactment groups for many years,  But fears that their appearance might cause "those people" who hate all things Confederate to cause problems and disrupt it with confrontations caused the city council to cancel it this year.

It is too bad when a group can disrupt an annual, peaceful event simply through threat as "those people" do now.

Kudus to Wake Forest for standing up to "those people."  Disruptions and confrontations will not be coming from Confederate re-enactors.

Confederacy Under Attack: UNC Gives "Silent Sam" to SCV

November 28, 2019

**  University of North Carolina gives 'Silent Sam' statue, toppled by protesters in 2018, to Confederate group.

**  Alabama Supreme Court rules that Birmingham cannot cover Confederate statue in Linn Park.

**  'It's a disgrace':  UNC will give Silent Sam to Sons of Confederate Veterans after suit.

**  Controversy surrounding Confederate group prompts Garner (N.C.)  to cancel Christmas parade.  People opposed to the Sons of Confederate Veterans have been making social posts against their participation so parade was canceled for fear of confrontation.

**  Even though I've already written about "Silent Sam" being turned over to the SCV twice, I couldn't help but like this headline:  "Confederate group nabs  statue toppled at UNC."  There you go, nabbing again.
