Civil War II: Texas, Sad R., Kentucky, Missouri and North Carolina

**  After initial push, city's effort to eliminate Confederate names loses momentum.  (Austin, Texas)

**  Devon Henry has removed Confederate statues all over  the South.  (Sad R.  He is the one who removed most of the the Sad R. ones.  I did not know he had removed other ones than just Sad R.  In the process, he has made quite a bit of money and being a big supporter of the black mayor of Sad R. didn't hurt either.  He is the one who has had threats made on his life mentioned in the previous post.)

**  Daviess Co. judge rules on the future of Confederate statue on courthouse's lawn.  (Kentucky.  It can be moved.)

**  Resolution to recognize Civil War event approved by Jefferson City Council.  (Missouri)

**  Rep. Madison Cawthorn goes to court to stop ballot challenge, citing a pro-Confederate law.  (North Carolina)

DECEMBER 10, 2020

**  Fairfax County History Commission outlines Confederate associated names throughout Fairfax County.  (Virginia.  Came up with 650.  That sure is a lot.)

**  History Commission identifies 150 Fairfax County sites named after Confederate figures.  (Virginia.  Well, is it 650 or 150?)

DECEMBER 11, 2020

**  Omnibus negotiators may toss Confederate rider.   (A push to ban Confederate  symbols at national parks.  But, this may not pan out.  Let's hope not.  get rid of all things Confederate at Gettysburg and folks might begin to wonder who Union forces were fighting.)

**  Northampton takes no action on Confederate monument.  (Virginia)

**  Bill filed to remove Confederate flag from Alabama's state coat of arms.  (You think it will be removed?  I sure do.)

**  Removing plaques and building names with ties to Confederacy begins at VCU.  (Virginia Commonwealth University in Sad R.)

Fairfax County will have to change every last one of those horrible Confederate names.

Renaming in Jacksonville, Letting the People Decide.

AUGUST 13, 2020


**  City Council votes to rename Hemming Park and Confederate Park.  (Jacksonville, Florida.  Hopefully SPLC got this information so they can add it to their Confederate "victims" list.    Hemmings Park was named after Charles C. Hemming in 1899 after he put up a large Confederate monument in the park.  The monument was taken down in June 2020.

Hemmings Park is now James Weldon Johnson Park, named after a Civil Rights activist and NAACP leader.  He deserves an honor, but this is a slap in the face to some.

**  Court orders referendum request on Confederate statue.  (Front Royal, Virginia.  Imagine voting on an issue like that.  Let the people have the say.  A surprising turn of events out of Sad Virginia.  Why are Blacks so afraid to let the people vote?  Do they think they will lose?  Even if the people vote to let the statue remain, BLM and their white minions will "topple' the statue after defacing it.  That's the BLM Way.)

**  Talbot County votes to keep Confederate monument for now. (Maryland.The Talbot Boys who served in the Confederate Army.  Some want it to be put to a vote of the people, in other words, a referendum.  That's the way to make this sort of decision.  It should not be left up to politicians, especially Democratic ones.  We know how they will vote.)

Now, Maury Island, Mississippi to Be VERY Busy Changing Confederate/Racist Names

**  Should we rename Maury Island?   (Maury Island, Washington.  Named after William L. Maury, CSN.)

**  MIlitary leaders pressure Esper to ban Confederate flag.

**  Where did these names come from?  (Mississippi.  A real long list of Mississippi towns, counties and university buildings named after Confederates and segregationists.  reckon Mississippi will be busy changing names on this list for a real, real long time.

**  VCU committee recommends removal of Confederacy-affiliated chapel, building names, memorabilia.  (Virginia Commonwealth University)
