A Big Stink Being Raised About Confederate Heritage Month

APRIL 15, 2022

**  Mississippi gov again proclaims Confederate Heritage month.  (So, why are some folks making such a big deal about this?  If some folks can commemorate Juneteenth or Harriett Tubman's birthday, why can't some others commemorate their ancestors.  If a person doesn't like the holiday, then they don't have to do anything about it.)

**  Civil rights group condemns  Gov. Tate Reeves' proclamation of Confederate Heritage Month.  (Two guesses who?  The good folks over at the very racist Southern Poverty Law Center.  I would expect them to do no less.)

**  Our view:  Gov. embarrasses  us all with Confederate  Heritage  Month proclamation.  (Columbus, Mississippi Dispatch.  Really sad when a newspaper takes this sort of hatred approach to news.)

**  Madison County makes April  Confederate History and Heritage Month.  (Texas)

It is amazing that some politicians have the backbone to stand up against certain groups and their minions on this issue.

APRIL 12, 2022

**  Gov. Reeves declares April Confederate Heritage Month.  (Mississippi.  April is the traditional Confederate Heritage Month.)

**  Perquimans  board oks language for signs at monument.  (North Carolina)

The signs say the statue was erected to honor the Civil war dead and also will say that some on the county opposed secession and the Confederacy and that some of them were Blacks.  An acceptable context signage.)

**  Military base could be  renamed for Lawrence Joel.  His name could replace a Confederate soldier's.  (Lawrence Joel from Winston-Salem, N.C. and recipient of the Medal of Honor.  A deserving candidate.  Just don't name all the bases after Blacks.)

**  SPLC report:  Dozens of Confederate  monuments were removed in 2021, but hundreds remain.  (That has to really stick it to dear old SPLC.  Sorry guys.)

And, you know, they still haven't made a lost (they really love making lists, especially anti-Confederate ones).  I'm still waiting for that list that gives stats on the number of BLM riots and damage done during 2020.

**  Rep. Murphy campaigns to rename Fort Benning after Oveido's SFC Alwyn Cashe.  (A very deserving black Medal of Honor recipient.  However, I am hoping not every single Confederate-named fort gets renamed for black people)

**  City Council  will discuss final disposition of Charlottesville's Confederate statues.  (Virginia.  And, believe me, it won't be good.)

**  New Orleans urged to switch street name from Confederate to music legend.  (Robert E. Lee Boulevard to Allen Toussaint.)

**  Northam to remove  Lee statue pedestal, transfer land to city.  (Virginia governor.  That pedestal should have come down as soon as the statue was removed.  What the city and state allowed to be done to it is an embarrassment.)

Well, Maybe There's Hope for Virginia After All

I was quite interested in the Virginia elections this past Tuesday.  The Democrats controlled the state government and things these last two years have almost been worse for those of us with Confederate heritage than when we had Union armies marching all over the state and destroying most everything they could get their hands on.

In other words, the Democrats had to go.

The Republican candidates for governor, lt.gov, and attorney general all won.  Plus, it appears the Republicans have taken control back in the House of Delegates.

So, maybe there is some hope for that state.

I do not know if there was any voting by counties or towns about removal of Confederate statues, but doubt that there were.  After the voting the last time, those that hate all things Confederate would not dare to put it up to a vote of the people.  They know they would lose.

The Democrats and their allies are behind all this Hate Confederate Campaign that so abounds in your state.  It is now time to show how you feel and vote them out of power.  It won't be easy because their allies are sticking 100% behind them, but a solid turnout and vote could turn the trick.

Why Must Every Confederate Statue Removed Be Replaced by a Black Statue? Is This the New Law of the Land? Memphis, Texas

**  Statue of Confederate leader removed from US Capitol.  (Virginia's Robert E. Lee statue.  Will be replaced by a black woman named Barbara Johns.  She is deserving of recognition.  But. why must all Confederate statues be replaced by black statues?  Is that the new law?    And guess what speaker of the house applauded this?

Hopefully Virginians will notice this is a move from their Democratic governor and all his Democratic legislators and will remember this when elections come up next year.)

**  Three years after Confederate statues removed, activists say the work isn't over.  (That was one real slick move Memphis pulled off to get rid of those statues and park names.  They should write a book on how to skirt the law and get away with it.  Again, I have to wonder how you get to be an activists.  Are you awakened one night by your fairy godmother who twangs you on the head with her magic wand and "Bingo, you're an activist?")

**  Protesters call Gainesville 'Most racist small town in Confederate States of America.'  (Texas.  I see they have "decorated" the statue there with their hate messages.  Isn't that illegal to destroy or deface public property.  Oh yes, they are BLM so that doesn't matter.)

**  New New York law bans  sale of Confederate flags on state property.  (I'm sure they sold a whole lot of Confederate flags on state property before this law.)

**  Vote set on Confederate monument.  (Walker County, Texas.  Since the vote will be by politicians, we know how this vote will go.  They're all afraid to stand up to BLM probably for fear of rioting.

**  Confederate Christmas ornaments  are smaller than statues -- but they send the same racist message.  (So, we've come to this.  Does BLM know no boundaries?   BLM should leave "them" ornaments alone and stick to what they know:  rioting, looting, burning and committing hate crimes.)

**  Changing the name of Dixie State University supported by the board.  (Utah.  In 2009, the school's nickname changed from Rebels to Red Storm.)

Smith who served in the Confederate Army and  a memorial to VMI cadets who fought as a unit at the Battle of New Market.  (This is a very disturbing thing.  That Virginia governor had a hand in this.  About time for a recall if you ask me.  But, how could the council do this?)

**  Protests continue  in Albertville after confederate flag removed and put back up.  (Alabama.  Come on guys.  Proper Name!!)

**  Fate of Tarboro's Confederate remains unknown.  (North Carolina)

**  Seventeen members of West Virginia's Senate call the phrase "Black Lives Matter" as hate speech.   (I agree with that.)

**  Confederate flag, swastikas and other hate symbols banned from Howard County school system property.  (Maryland.  I also say that anything BLM is also a hate symbol and should be banned.  They stand for riots, arson, looting and hate crimes.  Any school that bans the Confederate flag should also ban anything with BLM on it.)

**  Jury to hold trial on Virginia Gov. Northam's plans to remove Confederate Robert E. Lee.  (The Sad Va. Governor.)

**  Front Royal group wants Confederate statue voted off courthouse lawn. (Virginia)

**  Jefferson City  Council votes to remove Confederate marker.  (Missouri.  Marker to Confederate General Sterling Price.)

**  Following Lexington, N.C. among leading states for Confederate symbols removed.  (Nothing at all to be proud of.  North Carolina ranks second-most with 19 after Virginia's 40.  102 removed overall according to SPLC who has a hit-list of Confederate symbols it wants removed.  But, they won't make a list of BLM riots, looting, arson and hate crimes.)

Let's face it, BLM and SPLC are two very racist groups.

At least, Confederate flags and statues have not been rioting, looting, burning, confronting police and committing hate crimes like BLM.

Did You Hear the One About the Virginia Senator Charged With Two Felonies For What She Did at the Portsmouth Statue Hate Crime?

AUGUST 18, 2020


**  BREAKING:  Sen. Lucas charged with two felonies for June incident  at Portsmouth Confederate monument.   (Senator Louise Lucas, Democrat and a black woman.  Conspiracy to commit  a felony and injury to a monument in excess of $1,000.  Also warrants have been issued for a Portsmouth school board member, NAACP members and even members of the public defenders office.  I am shocked by this as I thought BLM had carte blanche to do whatever they want to Confederate statues, especially in a state like Virginia.  So, there is some law in the state after all.)

A video accompanies the article which shows BLM doing their BLM thing on that monument.  A real hate crime in other words.  Part of the video supposedly showed what the state senator did to get charged, but I didn't really see her doing anything wrong.  But just the fact that she was present when crimes were being committed and supporting the crimes is enough in my book to arrest her.

This is one video you need to watch.  I don't know why the police just stood by and watched, although I am glad they are now finally taking action.  Watch the whole video (which takes a minute to upload.  There is even a complete list of people charged so far.

The state governor, rather than being shocked and demanding her resignation, is supporting her.  But, then again, he is a Democrat and one of those white people who are pledged to BLM.  Plus, he is a committed supporter of Confederadication.

**  Liverpool, site of the last surrender in US Civil War, grapples with its Confederate links.  (A very interesting, but skewed account by a real Confederate-hater.  I'll be taking the non-hate stuff out and writing about it in my Civil War Navy blog.)

**  City removes Confederate  monument from Bicentennial Park in Williamsburg.  (Virginia)

**  Hit  'em where it hurts--  how economic  threats are a potent tool for changing people's minds about the Confederate flag.  (In other words, if you don't like Confederate flags or statues, boycott.  That is exactly what I do to any Southern city removing statues.  I don't go there anymore.  And, I'm thinking before long that I won't be able to go anywhere in the former Confederacy.  Oh well.  I may never be able to go to Virginia again.)
