Are these UDC members the white supremacists who put up all those racist monuments BLM has warned us about? How about those Confederate veterans above them? Some mighty desperate and despicable folks if you ask me.

Civil War II: USNA, Kentucky and a Statue Victory?

FEBRUARY 18, 2023

**  Navy removes  Confederate name from Naval Academy.  (Maury Hall becomes Carter Hall, named after former President Jimmy Carter.  This is an acceptable renaming.  Of course, he was  from the South, so that could be a problem with certain folk.)

**  State representative  files legislation to remove Confederate  holidays from  state law.  (Kentucky)

**  Tennessee Historical Commission denies  request to remove Confederate memorial from Centennial Park.  (Nashville.  Does this mean we might have won one?  What will NAACP, BLM and SPLC say about this.  Bet they won't like this decision.)

FEBRUARY 21, 2022

**  'Dixie':  The Confederate  anthem that was written by a Yankee.

**  Fairfax County  is set to finalize report on  renaming Confederate highways, districts.  (Virginia)

FEBRUARY 22, 2022

**  NAACP of Robeson County requests removal of Confederate statue outside courthouse.  (North Carolina.  Imagine them wanting something like that.  What about BLM things?)

**  Tom Emery:  Several U.S. presidents had Confederate ties.  (John Tyler, Franklin Pierce, Zachary Taylor.)

**  Cordele City Commissioners  vote to remove Confederate statue.  (Georgia)

**  Confederate street name in Austin to be renamed after  black educator.  (Texas.  She deserves the honor, but why do they have to rename all Confederate streets after black people?)

The Second Civil War: Panels, Letters, Flags, Bills, Pedestals, Storage and a Cemetery

MARCH 16, 2021

**  A key panel has voted to remove a bust of Confederate  Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest from the Tennessee Capitol.  (A Key Panel?  What is a key panel?  Is that where you keep your keys?  I have a key hook.)

**  Letter:  How can you fly a Confederate flag and call yourself a Patriot?   (Chuckle)

**  House committee  approves bill critics say  aims to keep Confederate monuments  on state Capitol grounds.  (West Virginia)

**  Fort Myers quoted in the range of $60,000 to remove Robert E. Lee pedestal.  (Florida.  That seems to be a tad high.  Real high.  Someone's looking to get rich.  Must be a mayor's bud.  Let the BLMers and their white minions at it.  They'll do it for free.  But messy, very, very messy.  Maybe a $10 donation to take a whack at it with a sledge hammer.)

***********************************

MARCH 17, 2021

**  Virginia Beach Confederate monument still in storage, committee didn't   support either proposal to move it.  (Virginia.)

**  $200,000 worth of damage  done to presidents, Confederate graves at Virginia Cemetery.  (Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.  More than 18,000 Confederate soldiers, generals and Jefferson Davis buried there.  No damage to president Monroe and Tyler graves.  No damage done to any clearly Confederate graves either.  Richmond police chief and mayor up in arms about it.  Which is kind of funny considering what they have allowed to happen to Confederate monuments in that city.)

University of Virginia and Thomas Jefferson-- Part 2: 'Contextualize'

While removing the George Rogers Clark statue and changing names of other Confederate/slave owner-named places, the university has to reach a decision as to what to do about its connection with its founder, Thomas Jefferson.

A big reason the university is what it is today is because of what Mr. Jefferson prescribed for its construction and aims back in the early 1800s.

The Univ. of Virginia Board of Visitors also voted to "contextualize" the statue of Thomas Jefferson-- primary author of the Declaration of Independence, third president of the United States and UVA's founder.  The statue is located on the north side of the university's rotunda.

In a press release, the school "acknowledged Jefferson's contributions to the University and the nation, but also pointed out that he owned slaves and used slave labor at UVA, in direct contradiction to the ideals of liberty and equality he professed."

I have seen this so-called context on other statues.  Sadly, what this means is a whole lot of opinions that are now in vogue, but down the line will not be.  I could accept something along these lines.  Besides his accomplishments, it should say: "Jefferson owned slaves which was legal in the country at that time and also he had slaves do a lot of the construction of this school.  His view of liberty and equality reflected the general views of most white people at the time and they did not believe in that for black people."

I Could Accept This as Context.  --Old Secesh

Is This Why the Democrats Don't Want the Public Voting on Removal of Confederate Statues? Is This What Is Happening in the U.S.?

JULY 26, 2020

**   Texas Republicans divided in House vote to remove  Confederate statues from US Capitol.  (From the Texan.  Explains how the state statues come to be in the US Capitol Building.

**  From the above article.  Polls.  Should Confederate monuments be removed from public spaces?

A June Quinnipiac poll:    Yes:  52%  No:  44%
A June Harvard poll:   Yes:  42%   No:  58%
A July UT-Tyler poll:  Yes:  38%   No:  43%

No wonder Democrats don't want the issue put to public.  They might lose.

"Congress is acting in a manner divergent from the mob-style justice being countenanced in various cities across the country."

"After nearly two months of civic unrest and riots over the killing of George Floyd the U.S. House voted to remove statues of Confederate figures from the U.S. Capitol grounds."  (So happy to find anyone in the media saying that we are having riots over this.  Usually it is described as a demonstration.)

"Across the nation, a growing movement of iconoclasm mixed with street justice has led to numerous statues being defaced  or even outright destroyed."

"While many have focused on effigies of Confederate figures, others gave targeted  the likeness of  abolitionists  Matthias Baldwin and Hans Christian Heg, and even former president Thomas Jefferson."

Pentagon Breaks With Trump, Fort Hood, Interesting Presidential Race Shaping Up

JULY 17, 2020

**  In an apparent break with Trump, , Pentagon effectively bans Confederate flag from U.S. military installations.

**  National Mounted Warrior Museum planned for Fort Hood, Texas.  (Well, if the fort is still named that by the time it is built.  This will be a museum for cavalry and mechanized troops.)

**  Lawmakers leverage defense bill to address police reform, racial injustice.  (What does this have to do with the military?)

**  Vicksburg trip shows why we shouldn't rust to tear down statues, even of Confederates.  (How nice of them.)

**  Biden  spokesman accuses Trump of 'openly embracing the causes of white supremacists.'  (And, the Democrats openly embrace a group guilty of hate crimes, rioting, looting and arson.)

The Second Civil War: Josephus Daniels, US Presidents from the 18th and 19th Centuries and the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74)

You might be wondering exactly why Josephus Daniels and John C. Stenmis and some U.S. presidents are now targets of the radical left, BLMers and their white minions are going against these people.

JUNE 23, 2020

**  Name military bases for heroes, not racist traitors, says veteran.  Opinion.

**  It's time to rename bases.

**  City manager had Daniels marker removed.  (Wilson, N.C.  Josephus Daniels marker.  20th century Secretary of Navy and ambassador.  Removed for racist views.  Interesting story.)

********************************

JUNE 24, 2020

**  Don't delay.  Rename Army bases that honor Confederate soldiers.

**  Statues of US presidents, other historic  figures re-examined as Confederate statues come down.

**  Mayoral candidate  Danny Meeks offers to move Portsmouth Confederate monument for free.

12 Days to Virginia's Confederate Statue Orgy

Let the parties and celebrations begin in that poor deluded state.  And, I am sure a certain group of people and their minions will be ecstatic beyond themselves.  I just don't know how things got so bad in Virginia.  But, much of it can be traced to the Democratic party after they gained control of the state government.

Sadly, since I don't live in that state (and right now sure am glad I don't) I am unable to vote in their election in November.  However, as far as voting for Democrats at any level here in Illinois, those people will not be receiving my votes, other than our McHenry County Board chairman.  And, I should point out that I usually vote for quite a few Democrats.

Last election, I voted for Hillary Clinton and the one before that, I voted for Barack Obama.  I also voted for Obama when he ran for U.S. senator and Carole Mosely-Braun when she ran for that office.

I am hoping that in November, I won't have to vote for the Republican, but if Joe Biden doesn't come out against the desecration of Confederate monuments, I may be forced to do exactly that.

A Real Sad State of Affairs.  --Old Secesh
