What's Racist and What's Not. Replacing Confederate Statues with Black Ones Is Rubbing Salt Into the Wound

**  As Confederate statues come down, statues of Black heroes go up.  (From the Black Wall Street Times.  Is the media here somewhat racist?  What if there was a White Wall Street Times?  Do You think Blacks would call that racist?  A racist is a racist is a racist, no matter what color they are.

And, replacing Confederate statues with black statues. That's rubbing salt into a still-sore wound.  Mighty racist of them, don't you think?

And, I firmly believe that statues to Blacks should be put up as they have been too long overlooked.  Especially Buffalo Soldiers and Ida B. Wells among many others.  I would have liked for the Confederate ones to have remained and joined by black ones.

Same with Black Caucuses.

Even Kansas? Is Defacing Also a Hate Crime? Ida B. Wells Statue, Virginia, Tennessee and That Proper Name Thing Again

**  Wichita Confederate war memorial defaced in latest  skirmish over Civil War remembrance.  (Kansas.  Defacing is another name for a hate crime.  Vandalism?)

**  In PNW, Confederate flag controversies are not new.  (Pacific Northwest)

**  Forever on Beale:  Ida B. Wells statue in Memphis.  (Tennessee.  A new statue of her at the corner of Beale and Fourth streets.  Well-deserved.  Sad that this is one of the first statues of her put up anywhere.  The woman was amazing.  So, Memphis gets a little reprieve from its racist hatred of all things Confederate.)

**  Roanoke County  judge orders removal of Confederate monument.  (Virginia.  Imagine someone in our "judicial system" saying something like that.)

**  Collierville  residents divided over removal of confederate (Confederate)  monument in Town Square Park.  (Tennessee.  Once called Confederate Park.  (Looks like WATN would know about proper names.)

We'd Like to Welcome Chicago's Italians to Our World

It was just a matter of time before all this historical revisionism and how horrible our ancestors were flowed over to something other than Confederate and in just the past few days, it has happened to Chicago's people of Italian descent (notice I don't say Italian-American because I find the hyphenated American words offensive).

Way back, it was a day off school called Columbus Day.  Then, it became Indigenous Peoples-Columbus Day.  Now, by Chicago Public Schools decree, it is just Indigenous Peoples Day.

And, with Columbus being an Italian sailing for Spain, he is kind of special to Italian people.  But, because of what happened to the Indigenous People (Indians), that is  no longer acceptable to many.  The Italians in Chicago are up in arms.  They consider it a slap in the face.

They are already mad because the name of Balbo Drive has been changed to Ida B. Wells Road.  Italo Balbo to honor his 1933 trans-Atlantic flight.  There are also those who want the Balbo statue taken down.  All this because of Balbo's connections to Fascism and Mussolini.
