Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Forrest and Arkansas
AUGUST 3, 2020
** 'We always knew what it stood for': Small Texas town torn over its Confederate statue. (Marshall, Texas.)
** Greenville protests over downtown Confederate monument leads to vitriol, arrests. (Greenville, S.C. It did get tense. At least BLM had not desecrated the statue with its usual stuff. Score a point to them.)
** Decision on Gaston County Court House Confederate monument to be made Monday. (North Carolina. A vote will be taken at the courthouse. The SCV fears vandalism to it (hate crime) and if vote is to remove it, want a safe place. But, I also think those people who want it gone should pay for it. I am happy to say that looking at the statue, it does not appear that BLM has done their usual thing to it. Score another point for them.)
** Opinion: Face history of Confederate monuments and start dismantling systemic racism.
** Confederate monuments: Nathan Bedford Forrest, the general involved in the Fort Pillow massacre.
** Confederate monument draws protesters, counter-protesters to state capitol. (Little Rock, Arkansas. No violence but there were heavily-armed people on both sides. Now, that is very scary. Tempers flare and shooting is a definite possibility.)
Thanks for Not "Vandalizing" Those Monuments, BLM. --Old Secesh
