Fort Sill, Weatherford, KU, Streets, Will Dismukes and Billy Graham
JULY 30, 2020
** Fort Sill -- Could it become Fort Truman. (Harry Truman posted here before he went off to WW I. Probably not because it is named for Union brigadier general Joshua Woodrow Sill. Article gives when Confederate-named bases came into being and possible new names.
Another thing, BLM may decide Fort Sill needs to be renamed for a black person. In that case it just might be renamed. How about Fort Tubman or Fort Douglass?)
** Parker County commissioners vote to keep Confederate statue. (Weatherford, Texas There were violent clashes over it already. I am shocked that another group of politicians stood up to BLM.)
** KU expert advocates renaming of Confederate named US military posts. (As in Kansas University. So surprising that a college professor would say something like this. About as surprising as a BLMer saying something like that.)
** Confederate monuments: General Albert Pike joined in an effort to expel free blacks from Arkansas.
** More than fifty Williamson County streets named for Confederates. (Tennessee. Of course, this is really a hit list for BLM.)
** Will Dismukes resigns as Baptist pastor but no plans to leave legislature after KKK leader celebration. (Alabama. A very biased article.)
** In overheard call, Trump asks senator to preserve the name of Fort Lee.
** Panel approves model of Billy Graham statue for US Capitol. (North Carolina Will replace one for Governor Charles Aycock who was a white supremacist. Known as the "Education Governor" for advocacy of N.C. schools.)
