SEPTEMBER 26, 2020
** Subcommittee formed ton address confederate statues and buildings in Danville. (Virginia. Hey, Confederate is a proper name!)
** Protesters make a stand, after Cleveland City officials provide Confederate statue update. (Tennessee)
** Request for Confederate flag ban heading to Stratford city hall. (Canada)
** William & Mary renames two buildings named for former governor, Confederate naval commander. (Virginia, of course. Trinkle Hall named for former governor Elbert Lee Trinkle, who signed Jim Crow laws and Maury Hall named after Mathew Fontaine Maury.
There are also buildings on campus named after Confederate generals Benjamin Stoddert Ewell and William Taliaferro who had a lot to do with the school. Perhaps William & Mary should go one step further and tear down any buildings built by slave labor.)
** Pushing away from Confederate imagery, Richland High School changes name from 'Rebels' to 'Royals.' (Texas. But wait, didn't we fight the American Revolution against a royal named King George?)
