** Utah college votes to nix Confederate-tied 'Dixie' name. (Dixie State University How dumb can you get. Didn't they make a movie about them? Maybe the one called "Dumb and Dumber."
Now they'll just be called State University. Next, someone will point out that universities do tests on animals without the animals' permission, so that will be dropped and they will just be called State. Then, someone will say that State refers to state governments that carry out executions of criminals, so that will have to be dropped.
Then they will be called just __________ . A Dixie State of Mind as Bocephus would say.)
Next thing you know, they'll have to change the name of the famous Mason-Dixon line markers to Mason-Martin Luther King Jr. line markers.
** Confederate monument outside Mississippi courthouse to remain after tie vote on moving it. (Gulfport, Harrison County. I am surprised. I didn't think that was possible. Harrison County joins two other counties, Lafayette and Lee counties where county supervisors have voted not to move their statues.
Forrest County supervisors put the issue on the Nov. 3 ballot and a majority of the people voted to keep their statue where it was.
