Are these UDC members the white supremacists who put up all those racist monuments BLM has warned us about? How about those Confederate veterans above them? Some mighty desperate and despicable folks if you ask me.

It Started in Pittsboro Back in August of 2017-- Part 1

From the August 18, 2017,  Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer  "Rumors bring group to aid of Pittsboro's Confederate monument" by Tammy Grubb.

And this was over two years ago.

Rumors that another Confederate statue might be coming down sparked a group of Chatham County (N.C.) to action Thursday.  Several Pittsboro residents were spotted during rush hour sitting along the base of the Confederate statue in front of the county courthouse.

Sunday, there was a vigil attended by about 30 person in solidarity with the victims of the protest in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday.

Former Pittsboro mayor Randy Voller has called for conversation on the statue's future.  News coverage of his interview seemed to lead to the rumor that the statue was to be taken down according to Voller.

The monument's future was not the only reason he  spoke to the board, but also the toppling of the Durham Confederate statue as well.
