** Why Confederates shouldn't be honored. (Editorial from the Roanoke Times, Virginia. Figures.)
** The fate of Confederate monuments should be clear: We know why they were built and why they have to come down. (New Republic. Sorry guys. Those statues were built for the same reason the Union statues are on Northern courthouse squares and parks. They honored those who risked all to defend what they believed in. And since most Confederate soldiers did not own slaves, I kind of think that was not what they believed in. Might it have something to do with their homes being invaded by enemy troops?)
** The last article cited data from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) who keep a "hit list" of anything Confederate that they want removed. I am wondering what comments those listing folks have made about the killing of the Chicago police officer and wounding of another by that pair of non-white suspects? Probably nothing.)
** Proposed Emmett Till statue: Photos. Clarion (Mississippi Ledger. Well worth looking at. I am in favor of this statue. Justice was not served here.)
