Are these UDC members the white supremacists who put up all those racist monuments BLM has warned us about? How about those Confederate veterans above them? Some mighty desperate and despicable folks if you ask me.

Sad R. Does It Again. African Art Replaces Confederate Statue, Maryland and Stone Mountain

JANUARY 25, 2022

**  Unanimous vote:  Richmond Confederate monuments going to black history museum.  (Another reason to boycott Sad R.  I can't imagine a worse place for our heritage to go.  There will be no respect there, no matter what the good old Post has to say.)

**  Simone   Leigh statue of African deity installed at site of former Confederate monument in New Orleans.  (And tell me, what does this have to do with me.  I worship no African deities.  Simone Leigh is a black artist.))

**  Opinion:    How many Marylanders fought for the rebels  was overstated.  (Again, consider the source, the Washington Post.)

**  Stone Mountain  leaders grappling with business losses at the park's resort hotel.  (Georgia.  It's that Confederate thing, you know.  And, of course, that virus thing.)

Confederadication: Washington Post Again, Alabama and the Rev.

JANUARY 24, 2022

**  Opinion:  Confederate heritage should not decide the fate of toppled monuments.  (Can you imagine the Washington Post saying something like this?  Amazing.)

**  Trial delayed  for man accused  of Selma Confederate monument theft.  (Alabama.  You mean it is actually wrong to do something illegal these days.  Who'd have "figgered."

**  We are in a Civil War; it is a war of good versus evil; and Democrats are the Confederate South.

**  Activist  pastor pushes back on claims he's not kin to  Robert E. Lee.  (That Rev. Rob. E. Lee again.)

Bricks, Prom Dresses, Sculptures and Bills

JANUARY 23, 2022

**  Township defends rejection of Black Lives Matter brick.  (Allendale, Michigan)**

**  Missouri jail officer defends wearing  Confederate flag to prom.  (The prom?  Really?  Turns out she wore it back in 2013.  That's Pre-G.F. you know.)

**  Sculpture  sitting at what used to be  Lee Circle unveiled.  (New Orleans.  Of course, it has to do with Blacks., in case you're wondering.)

**  Alabama bills:  Felony to move, deface, alter historic monuments.  (Wonder where this ones is going?)

A New Battle to Preserve Part of the Cedar Creek Battlefied in Virginia

JANUARY 22, 2022

**  3 Charlotte streets officially drop names tied to slavery, Confederacy.  (North Carolina.  Only one of the three were renamed for Blacks.  And that name, the Montford Point Street is entirely a good one as that was where black Marines trained during WW II.)

I don't mind the changing of names of streets or other items so long as they are not ALL renamed for Blacks.

**  Proposed  Virginia Sheetz on Civil War site draws opposition.  (Middletown, Virginia.  This is where a the Battle of Cedar Creek was fought on October 19, 1864,  and the proposed 19.5-acre site is considered a key part of the battlefield.)

Now, this is what I should be writing about  in this blog, not the hurtful stuff that I normally cover.  I wonder how the other side feels about the loss of an actual battle site.)

**  Georgia judge will consider blocking Confederate monument's removal.    (Brunswick, Georgia)

**  Vienna poised to hold hearing  over street named after Confederate general.  (Virginia.  Wade Hampton Drive.)

**  US Supreme Court asked to hear Richmond Confederate statue case.

**  Fixing Statuary Hall can't fix U.S. democracy alone, but it can help.  (Washington Post.  Go ahead and guess what they want to be done.)

Controversial Dent "Wildman" Myers Dies, Owned a Confederate Memorabilia Shop on Kennesaw, Georgia

JANUARY 19, 2022

**  Kennesaw  Confederate  souvenir shop owner Dent Myers dies.  (Georgia.  Dent "Wildman" Myers has died.  He was a real character and complete Confederate.  All those "Woke" and ultra leftist people who "visited" his lace and tried to make him realize how wrong he was never succeeded.  He was unreconstructed to the end.  I was fortunate to meet him back in the 1970s.  Not a person I'll ever forget.)

**  Florida lawmaker introduces a bill to remove three c(C)onfederate holidays from state law.  (A Democratic white woman.)

**  Owner of controversial Kennesaw Confederate memorabilia shop dies.  (Did I mention his shop was controversial or that he was controversial.  The more controversial, the more "Wildman" liked it.)

Celebrating Lee and King Birthdays on the Same Day?

JANUARY 18, 2022

**  Alabama 1 of 2 states still combining King-Lee holiday.

**  Renewed effort to drop Confederate general from King-Lee holiday.  (Alabama)

**  Florida lawmakers want to remove three state holidays honoring  the Confederacy. (They will probably replace the Confederate ones with black ones, of course.)

I agree that the two birthdays should not be commemorated on the same day.  However, whose birthday was commemorated first?

Civil War II: Racist Statues? England Wants Alabama to Drop Davis Holiday? Savannah, Fort Bragg and Alabama

JANUARY 16, 2022

**  What happened to all those racist statues we took down.  (The Daily Beast.  Sure surprised they would say something like that.)

**  England pushes for Alabama to drop Jefferson Davis holiday.  (Kind of thought England was more on our side during the war.)

**  Savannah leaders say Martin Luther King Jr. monument marks progress made and to be had.

Confederate Traitors? Jim Crow, Confederacy, Flaggers and That Va. Gov.

JANUARY 15, 2022

**  Federal government facilitates donations to an organization that praises Confederate traitors.  (Sons of Confederate Veterans.  This was in the Washington Post.  Do you think maybe this might be just a little biased?  Yep, just like our Founding Fathers were traitors.)

**  It turns out Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is a Jim Crow Confederate, according to Biden.  (Arizona.  In the federalist.)

**  Maya Wiley cites Confederacy in argument to allow noncitizens to vote.

**  Virginia Flaggers protest in Lexington.

**  Northam on highlights, controversies and his future.  (Virginia governor.  He is glad he took Confederate statues down.  About the only reason I'd want to move to this state would be to vote against him.)

Does Every Replaced Statue and Renamed Road Have to Be of Black People?

JANUARY 10, 2022

**  Tapper:  Confederate statues in Congress are 'Tributes to traitors,' honors 'Political Violence.'  (Jake Tapper is a CNN anchor.)

*********************************

JANUARY 11, 2022

**  The Jan. 6  insurrectionists begging for pardons sound  an awful lot like Confederate soldiers.

**  Journalist finds 'astounding' similarities between MAGA rioters and defeated Confederate soldiers.

**  Statue of Mary McLeod Bethune  to replace Confederate general at US Capitol.  (A worthy move, especially since Confederate General Kirby Smith really didn't have that much to do with Florida.  I just fear that every single one of the statues to be replaced in the Capitol will be a black person.)

**  New Orleans  City Council votes to rename Robert E. Lee  Blvd after musician Allen Toussaint.  (Again, an acceptable renaming, but do all roads and streets renamed have to be of black people?)

I'm in favor of some of them being named for Blacks, but definitely not all of them.

That Virginia State Senator's $300,000 Reward for Committing a Hate Crime. An Infamous Statue? A Second Civil War?

JANUARY 8, 2022

**  Sen. Lucas says she'll donate $300K Confederate monument settlement to charity.  (Remember her.  She is the black Virginia state senator from Portsmouth, Virginia, who incited the crowd to commit hate crimes on the Confederate statue.  She was arrested for it (her crime) and sued the city and police chief for it and the city gave in and awarded her $300,000.  How about that, You Too Can Get Paid to Commit a Hate Crime.  At least she is not keeping the ill-gotten money.)

**  Richmond's infamous Robert E. Lee statue may go to a black  history museum.  (Hyperallegetic.  Infamous?)

**  Marcano:  My talk with a racist.  (Dayton Daily New.  An interesting interview.  Give it a read.)

Civil War II: Something Fishy in Sad R. Sorry, I Didn't See Many Confederate Flags January 6

JANUARY 7, 2022

**  Richmond, Va., awards contract to remove  Confederate monument pedestals.  (Sad. R.  As I pointed out before, a close friend of the mayor started a company just to remove Confederate stuff and stands to reap a whole lot of money.  Ain't politics great.  Right, buddy.)

**  'That was a blow' Cory Booker  describes seeing Confederate flags on Jan. 6th.  (A black senator from New Jersey.  He didn't like it at all.)

**  Makeshift noose and c(C)onfederate flags told her this was something different.  (Cori Bush, U.S. Rep. from Missouri.  A black woman.   I don't know, but I didn't see many Confederate flags in the crowd.  There were a whole lot of U.S. and Trump flags though.  I also did not see any nooses.  Sounds a bit Bubba W. to me.)

What's Happening to the Confederate Monuments, There Are Still Confederates in the U.S. Capitol

JANUARY 7, 2022

**  Here's what is going on with fallen Confederate monuments.  (A look at various statue situations.)

**  The Capitol insurrection, the Lost Cause and the Confederate flag.

**  There are still Confederates in the U.S. Capitol.  (Statues)

**  Final Richmond monument removal of Confederate  Gen. A.P. Hill's statue, his remains set.  (His remains are buried under the statue.  Sad R.  Personally, I don't think I'll ever visit Richmond again.)

Robert E. Lee Statue, Cost of Removing Pedestals $1.5 Million, Racism and U.S. Capitol Attack

JANUARY 6, 2022

**  Robert E. Lee statue to exit  Richmond's wastewater plant.  (Sad R.  That's right, a further slap in the face from the mayor and his cohorts, store it at a wastewater plant.  Will this ever end.  Oh yes, and turn it over to a black museum.  One can only imagine what horrible things they are going to do with it.)

**  Removal of remaining Confederate monument pedestals could cost approximately  $1.5 million.  (Sad R.  That seems to be way high, but the money goes to a big-time mayor supporter.  Of course, the cost of all this should be paid for by people who want the monuments and their pedestals gone.  None should come from public funds.)

**  Racism's prominent role in January 6 US Capitol Attack.  (If this was racism, I would think it was in response to what the BLMers were doing during the days of riots all year during 2020.  And, let's face it, most of those rioters, looters and arsonists committing hate crimes were of one particular race of people.)

But, I agree, those pictures of them idiots attacking the Capitol is as offensive to me as the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.  A horrible day in U.S. history.

The Second Civil War: Two Time Capsules, Politics As Usual in Sad R. Storage at the Wastewater Plant

JANUARY 4, 2022

**  Two time capsules found at removed Confederate statue base.  (Sad R.)

****************************

JANUARY 5, 2022

**  Finishing the job:  Contractor who helped remove  Richmond's Confederate statues tapped for pedestal removal.  (Sad R.  Team  Henry Enterprises.  I seem to remember that this company is headed up by a big supporter of the black Richmond.  He has given money to the mayor's campaigns and is a black man as well.  Politics as usual?)

**  Robert E. Lee statue to exit Richmond's wastewater plant.  (As a further slap in the face, Richmond's mayor ordered it and others to be kept at the city's wastewater plant.  And, now will be turning it over to a black museum.  What a guy!)

Black Soldiers Monument, Confederate Monument Stays, Pedestal Gone and He's Guilty

JANUARY 3, 2022

**  Black Soldiers Monument not moving to courthouse.  (Perquimans County, N.C.  Owners prefer to have it remain where it is.)

**  Confederate monument staying at Perquimans Courthouse.  (N.C.  Will be put in context with signage, however.  A fair compromise in my books, as long as that context is not too BLM or Woke.)

**  Pedestal where Lee statue in Richmond fully removed.  (And, about time.)

The Pedestal's Gone... Finally

JANUARY 2, 2022

**  Northam and Stoney to give Richmond's Confederate monument remains to Black History Museum.  (Sad R. and Sad Va.  These are the fellows who need to be voted out of office the next election.)

**  Pedestal of Robert E. Lee statue in Virginia  capital fully removed.  (Thank goodness for that.  What the city and state allowed the hate-crimers to do to it created a huge eyesore.  Now, where will the folks who like to write swear words and hate words on property write them?  I feel so sorry for those folks.)

About the Sad R. Monuments Going to the Black Museum

JANUARY 1, 2022

**  Richmond's Confederate monuments to be given to city's Black History Museum.  (Sad R.  Yet another slap in the face from the mayor and governor.)

**  Museums to seek public  input on Confederate monuments' fate.  (I'm sure they'll only listen to black ideas.

I am confidant that whatever they come up with will only make me madder than I already am about all this.  These monuments should have been given over to UDC and SCV.  Obviously, all costs of removing, storage and relocating (after repairs have been made) should be paid by the cities and counties involved.  Even better, the folks who wanted them removed should be made to pay expenses.  Put your money where you mouths are.

Confederadication: Virginia, Renaming, Removing Sad R's Black History Museum

DECEMBER 30,2021

**  Here's all the NoVa places with Confederate ties renamed in 2021.  (Northern Virginia.  Since it was Sad v., there were quite a few.)

*******************************

DECEMBER 31, 2021

**  Lee's statue will  move to  Richmond's Black History Museum.  (Where it will be desecrated.  A big mistake and slap in the face.  All Confederate statues should be returned to UDC and SCV or battlefields.)

**  Confederate  veterans group miffed Black History Museum in Richmond will get statues.  (SCV.  And the Black History Museum didn't even put in a request for the statues.  This is the mayor and governor getting another slap in the face to Confederates.)

I'd still like to know that if there was a White History Museum, would certain folks consider that to be racist.

**  Confederate statue in Danville moved to museum in Meade County.  (Kentucky.)

About That Famous R. E. Lee Time Capsule. Don't Turn Confederate Statues Over too Black Organizations.

DECEMBER 29, 2021

**  Time capsule found at Confederate  Gen. Robert E. Lee statue reveals Civil War-era artifacts.  (Sad R.  Well, at least they have the right one this time.  It is kind of strange that with all the clamor to bring this statue and the others down that they'd be that interested in a time capsule that his for that "Lost Cause" thing they so hate.)

I am so happy that they finally got around to removing the pedestal.  What Sad R. and the state had allowed hate groups to do to the pedestal had really turned it into an eyesore.  At least those hate groups were usually able to spell expletives correctly.

********************************

DECEMBER 30, 2021

**  Confederate monuments are removed as Americans consider how to remember the past.  (NPR)

**  Robert E, Lee and other Confederate  statues could go to Richmond's Black History Museum.  (Sad R.  This would be a mistake.  There is no way a black museum is going to treat anything Confederate respectfully.  What they will do to them will be nothing short of a hate crime.

By the way. if we had a White History Museum, would that be considered racist?)
