**  Letter:  Local pastor says Confederate monument, flag at county courthouse. (Albertville, Alabama.  The pastor is a white man.)

**  25 House Republicans abandon support for troops to protect Confederate monuments.  (66 House Republicans voted against overriding Trump's veto and 25 of them had previously supported the bill.)

**  Myron B. Pitts:    Fort Bragg name to become a thing of the past -- good.  (Suggests other names.  Some are actually white people.  I don't mind changing the fort names. just please don't name every single one after a black person.  After all, whites have had something to do with the U.S. Army over the years, believe it or not.)

**  SC Heritage Act lawsuit protecting  Confederate monuments sparks top Republican fight.

The Second Civil War: Wish If You Must. A Poet, House and 'Sylva Sam'

**  Wish.com removes most Confederate merchandise, citing policy against hate, but still sells items, but it still sells items glorifying dictators.  (Yep.)

**  A poet reflects on how we reckon -- or how we fail to reckon -- with the legacy of slavery.

**  House overwhelmingly  votes to override Trump's veto of the defense bill that he refused to sign because it renames Confederate bases.  (Big surprise that a bunch of Democrats would do something like that.)

**  Plywood covers part of  statue as 'Sylva Sam' awaits modifications.  (Jackson County, N.C.  The statue will remain.  But the Confederate flag on the base and some words will be removed.  I'm okay with compromise.  Of course with BLM, there can be no compromise.)

**  Fake body bags lined up outside Alabama court house in protest over  SCOTUS justice.  (Marshall County, Alabama.   County named after John Marshall, U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) who was a slave owner.  Reckon the county name will have to be changed now.)

**  New York state bans sale of Confederate flags.

**  The Woke see no evil -- and nothing but evil.  (I don't know about the suddenly "Woke" people.)

**  White supremacist's statue off Louisiana high court steps.  (Edward  White.  Also a member of U.S. Supreme Court.  His crimes:  Fought for the Confederacy and upheld racial segregation laws.)

**  Arlington House, the Robert E. Lee memorial, must be renamed. (Washington Post.  Big surprise they'd say that.    Excuse me, but wasn't the reason for Arlington National Cemetery being there a slap in the face to Lee in the first place?  Does this mean the name of the cemetery must also be changed?)

**  Top stories of 2020:    Push to rename Fort Bragg, installations named after Confederate generals.  (Fayetteville, North Carolina)

**  Activists don't want Confederate monuments, larger issues to be swept under the rug in 2021.  (But, why weren't the activists out there activating against Confederate monuments before Floyd?  Did they know those statues were there and had been for over 100 years?  Inquiring minds want to know.)

You'd kind of think "They" might take a day off today.  But, NO!!!!

**  Confederate monuments at Park Service get a reprieve.  ("Those" people want all Confederate statues and markers at National Battlefields taken down.  Then, who were the "good guys" fighting?)

**  'Body Bags' of slaves latest weapon in Confederate flag fight.  (Marshall County, Alabama.  They represent slaves owned by John Marshall, the county's namesake.  Gets me to wondering.  How much work can you get out of a dead slave?  Probably not too much.  Why would Marshall kill his slaves.  Inquiring minds want to know.)

John Marshall was the U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice and owned 200 slaves during his lifetime.  Must have been a really bad man.

**  Top stories of 2020, No. 7:  Confederate statues removed, park renamed.  (Wilmington, North Carolina)

**  Tullahoma alderman won't apologize for  family Christmas party photo with Confederate flag.  (Tullahoma, Tennessee.  Those who are upset obviously weren't invited to the party.)

Trump Vetoes Defense Bill. Big Surprise There. 'Roll Tide' and 'Gator Bait', A Big Surprise from Virginia

**  From 'Roll Tide' to 'Gator Bait', college football reckons with problematic traditions.  (These are Confederate or Antebellum-related.  Very interesting article.  I will write about it soon in my Saw the Elephant: Civil War blog.

**  Show of force on US streets and crisis at Fort Hood tested army secretary this year.  Also renaming Confederate bases.

**  Trump vetoes colossal $740 billion defense bill, breaking with Republican-led Senate.  (He did as he said he would do, evidently.  Again, I am in favor of renaming the bases, but, please not all black people.  Regardless of how good a man the Confederate officers were, the fact is that they still chose to fight their country.)

**  Fort Benning is named for a slave-owning secessionist.  That could soon change.  (Georgia)

**  Warner:  'I look forward' to overriding Trump's veto of defense partly over Confederate issue.  (Senator Mark Warner of Virginia.  From Virginia?  Surprise.  He's a Democrat?  Another surprise.)

**  With hate crimes on the rise, GOP senators go all-in for racist statues.  (Yep.  Lots of hate crimes being committed against Confederate statues and symbols these days.)

Taking a Long Look at the Alabama State Coat of Arms

I was looking at the Alabama State Coat of Arms in the picture section to the right of this and have come to the conclusion that other things need to be taken off it because they might offend some people.

Right now, there is a movement among black legislators in that state, and of course BLM, to remove the Confederate flag because it offends them.

In that case, they also need to remove the Spanish flag because the things they did to the Indians in the new world were too numerous to even get into.  France and British were also bad to the Indians.  Plus, all three countries have done bad things in their history.

Plus, eagles have been known to swoop down and grab fish and other small animals, even other birds.  Well, we can't have them either.

Then, there's that ship at the top of it with cannons.  Ships with cannons kill people on other ships and land.

Then, there is that state motto "Audemus Jura Nostra Defendere" which means "We dare to defend our rights."  Oops, they dared to defend their right to own slaves according to BLM.

So, all that has to go.

Will Virginia's George Washington Statue in the U.S. Capitol Come Down Next? A Legislator With Backbone, Imagine That?

DECEMBER 23, 2020

**  Virginia removes Confederate statue from US Capitol.  (Robert E. Lee, of course.  He will be replaced by a black woman.  That leaves a statue of George Washington who I'm sure the state will want removed because he owned you-know-what.  He will have to be replaced by another black person, of course.  Well, at least BLM wasn't able to get to it and commit their hate crimes on it like they did with the Sad R. statue.) 

I actually am in favor of removing all Confederate statues from the U.S. Capitol because they did fight against the United States. Just, try to replace at least a few of them with someone who isn't a black person.

**  Arizona  state senator-elect Wendy Rogers praises Robert E. Lee.  (She said he was a great leader and patriot.  Anybody who thinks Lee was not a great leader, well, they also think George Floyd was a paragon of virtue and a wonderful person.  Finally, another legislator with some backbone who doesn't now down to BLM.)

**  Confederate statues still standing  in U.S. Capitol.  (There are ten of them.  This was by the Newsy site.  I'm surprised those great list makers at SPLC didn't make this one.)

**  Walker County commissioners  vote to keep Confederate monument at courthouse.  (Huntsville, Texas.   Wow, we won one, but for how long?  BLM's not going to like this and will demand to have final say.)

**  Parrott:  Keep John Mosby's name on Route 50 in Loudoun.  (Virginia)

**  Rally planned over Putnam County Confederate statue removal.  (Florida.  Demanding it be relocated.  Commission has already voted 4-1 to remove it.  Impatient little cusses, ain't they?)

**  VA (Veterans Administration) has no plans to rename hospital that honors Confederate.  (Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond.  Will the last Confederate out of Sad R. please turn out the lights.  We can't get all things Confederate out of that town fast enough.  And, please take down the disgrace that you have allowed to take place at the Lee Statue.)

**  Decision to remove NCFL (North Central Florida) Confederate monument frustrates both sides.  (Palatka, Putnam County.  It has already been decided that the statue will be removed, but the stipulation that BLMers don't like is that those who want it removed must come up with $200,000 privately raised funds to do so.  Hey, you want it removed, YOU PAY FOR IT.  Cut and simple.  

Like the one lady said, "Either ante up or shut up."   Agreed.

Why Must Every Confederate Statue Removed Be Replaced by a Black Statue? Is This the New Law of the Land? Memphis, Texas

DECEMBER 22, 2020

**  Statue of Confederate leader removed from US Capitol.  (Virginia's Robert E. Lee statue.  Will be replaced by a black woman named Barbara Johns.  She is deserving of recognition.  But. why must all Confederate statues be replaced by black statues?  Is that the new law?    And guess what speaker of the house applauded this?

Hopefully Virginians will notice this is a move from their Democratic governor and all his Democratic legislators and will remember this when elections come up next year.)

**  Three years after Confederate statues removed, activists say the work isn't over.  (That was one real slick move Memphis pulled off to get rid of those statues and park names.  They should write a book on how to skirt the law and get away with it.  Again, I have to wonder how you get to be an activists.  Are you awakened one night by your fairy godmother who twangs you on the head with her magic wand and "Bingo, you're an activist?")

**  Protesters call Gainesville 'Most racist small town in Confederate States of America.'  (Texas.  I see they have "decorated" the statue there with their hate messages.  Isn't that illegal to destroy or deface public property.  Oh yes, they are BLM so that doesn't matter.)

The False Cause, St. Augustine, Indian Wars, Lee Removed from Capitol

**  Review:  New book seeks to differentiate between Confederate history and historic memory.   (With a book titles "The False Cause:  Fraud, Fabrication, and White Supremacy in Confederate Memory" you can kind of guess whose side Adam N. Domby is on.  Required reading for NAACP, BLM and SPLC.)

**  Letters:  Confederate memorial should have stayed put.  (St. Augustine, Fla., removed Gem Loring statue in the pre-dawn hours.  Why is it that so many Confederate statues come down during the night time?  Isn't that when the bad guys operate?)

**  Resolution to remove 'Indian War' cannon on Decatur City Commission agenda.  (Decatur, Georgia.  In June they removed the Confederate obelisk.  The removal of Indians  following the Creek Indian War of 1836.  It was placed by the UDC.)

**  Confederate  Gen. Robert E. Lee statue removed from U.S. Capitol.  (Taken shortly after 4 am.  Again, a night-time removal of a Confederate statue.  Night-time is the right time for criminals and other deluded people.  This at orders of the Va. governor, quite a piece of work.)

**  Cuomo salutes Confederate flag censors.  (New York governor)

**  New New York law bans  sale of Confederate flags on state property.  (I'm sure they sold a whole lot of Confederate flags on state property before this law.)

**  Vote set on Confederate monument.  (Walker County, Texas.  Since the vote will be by politicians, we know how this vote will go.  They're all afraid to stand up to BLM probably for fear of rioting.

**  Confederate Christmas ornaments  are smaller than statues -- but they send the same racist message.  (So, we've come to this.  Does BLM know no boundaries?   BLM should leave "them" ornaments alone and stick to what they know:  rioting, looting, burning and committing hate crimes.)

**  Changing the name of Dixie State University supported by the board.  (Utah.  In 2009, the school's nickname changed from Rebels to Red Storm.)

**  Patrick J. Buchanan:  After Lee, it's Lincoln's turn.  (A school district in San Francisco wants the name of Lincoln Highway changed for crimes against Indians.)

**  Nation's largest Muslim advocacy group supports removal of Confederate  memorial from Marshall County Courthouse.  (Albertville, Alabama.  Council On American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).  How about supporting an end to terrorist operations, ISIS and other terrorist groups?  You'd kind of think Muslims had enough of their own problems where they wouldn't get involved with stuff in our county.)

**  Educate and advocate:  Activists in Lafayette, La.,  lead movement to remove Confederate statue, confront long history of white supremacy.  (SPLC.  Hey Guys, still waiting for you list of BLM riots, arson, looting and hate crimes.  Let's get to it!!)

**  Virginia museum will lead efforts to reimagine Richmond Avenue once  lined with Confederate monuments.  (Virginia Museum of  of Fine Arts in Sad R.  A very racist museum responsible for that statue across the street.  Of course this means that every statue put up on the avenue now will HAVE to be a black person.  That's not racist at all, is it?)
